Bollywood has always loved a good story about actresses not getting along. Anushka once shared why it feels awkward when she meets Deepika in person, and it's not for the reasons people think.
'We supposed to be fighting with each other'
Anushka once spoke openly about this awkwardness during a roundtable chat with Rajeev Masand. The discussion also had Deepika Padukone and Richa Chadha. In that chat, Anushka explained why things get uncomfortable when she bumps into Deepika.
She said, 'Deepika and I are supposed to be fighting with each other. We are supposed to not get along with each other. There is no reason why that would happen. I've never had a spat with her.'
Anushka further added, 'I've never had a there's nothing that has happened. So what is this not getting along? You know, we've gone to the same college. We come from the same city. In fact, we have a history. But no it is created bywhat happens when so much of it is spoken about.
When you meet each other, it's awkward like me.'
Same city, same college, same stories
What makes all these rumours even stranger is that Anushka and Deepika have so much in common. Both actresses come from Bengaluru. They also studied in the same college, Mount Carmel College.
Anushka pointed out that they even share a history. Yet, despite these clear connections, people still try to find problems where there are none. This constant gossip is exactly why it sometimes feels odd when the two actresses see each other face-to-face.

The Ranveer Singh angle
A lot of the chatter around Anushka and Deepika had also been linked to Ranveer Singh. In 2010, Anushka starred with Ranveer in 'Band Baaja Baaraat'. After the film, there were strong rumours that the two might have been dating. However, neither of them ever admitted to being in a relationship. Reports later claimed that if they were together, they eventually went their separate ways.
Things are very different now. Anushka is happily married to cricketer
.
They are proud parents to two kids, Vamika and Akaay. Meanwhile, Deepika is married to Ranveer Singh, and the couple became parents to baby girl Dua.
Busy with their own lives
On the work front, both actresses are in different phases of their careers. Anushka was last seen doing a small cameo in the OTT film 'Qala'. Right now, she seems happy focusing on her family and enjoying motherhood.
Deepika, on the other hand, has some exciting films lined up. Though she has stepped away from 'Spirit', reportedly she will be seen next with

Rashmika Mandanna Says She's Open To Long Shoot Hours Amid Deepika Padukone's Spirit Row: 'Personal Choice'

Last Updated: Rashmika Mandanna reacts to ongoing debate on working hours amid Deepika Padukone's exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit. The conversation around long working hours in the Indian film industry continues to grow louder—and actor Rashmika Mandanna is the latest star to weigh in. Her comments come amid a wave of reactions following reports of Deepika Padukone's alleged fallout with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga over fixed work schedules on the now-shelved Spirit. Addressing the controversy, Mandanna spoke about the importance of clear communication before signing on to a film, during an interview with Mojo Story. 'Today the whole country is debating about flexible hours, but that is for discussion amongst the teams and figuring out what works for them. It's their personal choices," she said, stressing that mutual understanding within the team is key. The Animal actor also reflected on her cross-industry experience, pointing out how shooting schedules differ across regions. 'I do work in multiple industries, like the South – Telugu, Kannada, or Tamil, where we work 9 am to 6 pm. In Hindi, it's a 9 am to 9 pm shift. I am open to both because this is what my film requires," she shared. But she didn't shy away from addressing the more extreme side of filming schedules. 'Some films you can start 9 am to 9 pm, but they carry on till the next day, so you're working like 36 hours. There are much worse scenarios happening where you are working 2-3 days without going home," Mandanna revealed. Deepika Padukone-Sandeep Reddy Vanga Spirit Controversy The issue was recently brought to the forefront after reports surfaced that Deepika Padukone opted out of Spirit due to disagreements over her request for fixed hours. Deepika, a new mother, is reportedly seeking to balance her work and personal life by reducing her working hours. This decision led to her exit from the film, which would have been her second collaboration with Prabhas after their recent project, Kalki 2898 AD. The situation sparked industry-wide discussions about actor welfare and reasonable work conditions. Following Deepika's exit, Triptii Dimri was confirmed to play a part in the film. Mandanna, who worked with Vanga on the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal, acknowledged the broader need for realistic expectations, especially in high-pressure shoots. Rashmika Mandanna was most recently seen in Kuberaa, which released on June 20. First Published:

When Anushka Sharma reacted to losing her debut award to Asin: 'I got very upset...'

The year 2008 marked the arrival of two different yet impactful female leads in Bollywood—Anushka Sharma, who made her debut with Shah Rukh Khan in 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi,' and Asin, who was in the movie with Aamir Khan in 'Ghajini. ' Both performances were lauded, both films were box office successes, and both actresses were nominated. Although when the envelope opened, it was Asin who took home the trophy. 'I was very upset… I cried like a child' In a resurfaced 2018 interview on 'Look Who's Talking With Niranjan,' Anushka candidly recalled her heartbreak, saying, 'I'm very upset they didn't give it to me. I made my calculation, you know. Asin had already done Ghajini in Tamil, Telugu, and maybe Kannada. She's already been an actress for many years. Obviously, they won't give it to her! Debut toh mera hua hai, main nayi hoon, maine nayi film mein kaam kiya hai. I need the encouragement.' In spite of clapping for Asin during the ceremony, Anushka admitted she was devastated afterwards, as she said, 'I cried like a child—as if I didn't get a certificate in school.' The 'debut' debate: Fresh face vs. first Hindi film Anushka's frustration was not just all personal; it became a larger industry debate. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo The question though lies what truly defines a debut? While 'Ghajini' was Asin's first Hindi film, she was already a popular star in South Indian cinema. Anushka, on the other hand, was a complete newcomer, stepping into the spotlight with no prior screen experience. This distinction, Anushka felt, should have mattered. She emphasised, 'She's already an actress. I was new. I needed the encouragement.' A-Sin or just a sin? In a cheeky moment on 'Koffee With Karan,' Anushka even referred to Asin as 'A-Sin,' a pun that reflected her lingering disappointment. While said as a joke, it ignored how deeply the moment had affected her. Where they stand today Asin stepped away from acting after 'All Is Well,' choosing to focus on family life. Anushka, meanwhile, has shaped herself into one of the Bollywood's most respected actors and producers. Her upcoming film 'Chakda 'Xpress,' which is based on the cricketer Jhulan Goswami, is among the most expected biopics in recent memory.
