Alfie commits a national atrocity by trying to get rid of an EastEnders legend
Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) has tried to do something truly, truly awful in EastEnders – and failed miserably. Wanting to make his mark on The Queen Vic, he prepared to get rid of Walford icon Tracey the barmaid (Jane Slaughter). Silent Tracey has graced the BBC soap since the very first episode – becoming quite the fan-favourite during that time. The character is, of course, one of the many named supporting characters that help cement Albert Square as a real life area in East London. Originally operating a flower stall on the Bridge Street Market, she was taken on as barmaid by Frank Butcher (Mike Reid) in 1989. Her presence in the pub often helps explain other characters' absence from work, allowing them to be at the centre of the drama elsewhere. On a number of occasions that position has been threatened, though without fail, our Trace' always worms her way back into the fold. In tonight's episode, just 24 hours after learning he was the new landlord of the new pub, Alfie decided that he was going to have to make some staffing cuts to be able to afford their new venture. Waltzing into Walford East, he told Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) that he was resigning from his role at the Minute Mart. In disbelief, Ravi told him that he actually didn't have a job to resign from after doing a disappearing act some weeks ago. As viewers know, he headed to Barcelona to track down estranged step-daughter Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan), to no avail. Alfie tried to sweeten the deal, saying he had a perfect replacement. …Tracey! Ravi was furious that he was prepared to ditch such a valued member of staff, who has given decades of her life to the boozer. Nevertheless, Alf' continued with his decision to ditch her and headed back to the pub to break the difficult news. Tracey brushed him off, saying that she'd turned down Ravi's job offer and was more than happy to stay at The Vic. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Emmerdale legend released from prison as a shock decision is made
Joe Tate's (Ned Porteous) meddling has caused a feud to form between Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Sam Dingle (James Hooton) in Emmerdale. Joe was put in charge of Kim Tate's (Claire King) grand plan a few days ago. As she left for Dubai, Joe decided to focus on getting Butlers Farm from Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb). He pounced on his prey after learning that Moira had received more bad news from the water company. Due to Moira being in a vulnerable position when Joe put forward the idea of her selling, it meant she was very tempted. Moira changed her mind on signing the contract when she discovered Joe had paid Noel from the water company to deliberately reject her appeal. She then faced a nightmare when two teens broke into a barn, and immediately thought that Joe was responsible for organising it. At Home Farm, Joe told Moira that his plans, as ruthless as they are, never involve putting children in danger. Moira didn't believe him and went to punch Joe, but poor Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) got in the way. Moira was arrested and taken to the station in this evening's episode and while this was happening, Cain was on the warpath. He found Lydia and told her to lie to the police if she got questioned about Moira hitting her. Lydia was unsure about this, but Cain threatened her and said she didn't have a choice. While Cain was playing bad cop, Joe took a different approach. He spoke to Lydia and Sam and said that he likes them both, and said Moira shouldn't get away with an act of violence. More Trending Moira ended up getting released from prison due to the complaint getting dropped. Unfortunately though, that wasn't the end of the matter. In the pub, Cain and Sam continued to argue. Cain felt frustrated over Sam's loyalty to the Tates, while Sam looked at his brother differently after his confrontation with Lydia. Former drummer shares why he doesn't regret what happened OASIS TRUTH Oasis drummer Tony McCarroll reveals real reason he was sacked from band & makes surprise admission about Liam Gallagher Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) HE famously got the sack from Oasis in 1995 – less than a year after the band released their massive debut album, Definitely Maybe. And now former drummer Tony McCarroll admits he would definitely love to make amends with Noel Gallagher, who was the one to give him the boot. Sign up for the Entertainment newsletter Sign up 9 Oasis line-up of, from left to right, Bonehead, Liam, Noel, Tony McCarroll and Paul McGuigan Credit: Getty At a fan event in Newcastle, Tony, said: 'Would I sit down and have a cup of tea, a Rich Tea, with Noel, and go, 'What the fk happened, mate?'. I would.' Recalling the clash that saw him sacked, Tony said: 'There was an incident in Paris. I was next door to Noel's hotel room, which I didn't know. 'I had an argument with some girl I was with and the next day we were doing the soundcheck. 'I just finished my bit, and he turned around and, in front of everybody, he went, 'You fing keep me awake again, you're getting fing sacked, mate'. 'Probably the most stupid thing I've ever done in my life, but I fronted him and said, 'You won't f*ing speak to me like that again, no chance'. It was only a matter of weeks later I got the P45.' Although the row meant Tony was kicked out of the band, he insists he doesn't regret standing up for himself, adding: 'What sort of man would it make me if I didn't? "Everybody was under threat every day, but it was just bravado. 'I never saw it being something serious like losing your position in the band.' While Tony, who these days teaches drumming, has not spoken to Noel since their clash, he said he's been in touch with Liam and guitarist Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs. 'Everyone thinks Liam's a nutcase, but he's a shockingly nice guy,' Tony explained. Incredible on stage footage shows thousands of Oasis fans going wild at sold out Wembley gig 'A lot of that stuff is bravado. It might be nervousness, something about him where he just can't deal with whatever it is, people in his face.' He added of being left behind as the band rocketed to fame: 'If the roles were swapped, what do you do? You keep going. 'They were on the way to superstardom, the stadium gigs forever.' Tony has not yet seen Oasis on their sellout reunion tour, which will see them play Wembley Stadium tonight and at the weekend. But the musician, who drummed on all of Definitely Maybe, as well as hit singles Whatever and Some Might Say, is still immensely proud of his role. Tony said: 'I wish I had a few more quid, but I've got to be proud and happy that I've made my mark. 'We were The Beatles of the Nineties. It was mayhem.' 9 Former drummer Tony McCarroll famously got the sack from Oasis in 1995 Credit: Garrett White NEW TUNE'S NO RAYE OF SUNSHINE 9 Raye poses in a black swimsuit on Instagram RAYE looks hot here but she's been taking inspiration from the cold for her new album. The Escapism singer posed in a black swimsuit on Instagram as she opened up about how 'personal aches and pains' have helped her new song The Winter Woman. It is expected to feature on the follow-up to her 2023 debut album My 21st Century Blues, which won her six Brit Awards, as she admitted that her sadness means her new record is now starting to take shape. She explained: 'I know it's July, but I've been writing this song called The Winter Woman. 'The sad feelings we wrestle with do make great songs I think, and considering this seems to be a chapter in my life where I am swimming through some personal aches and pains, I'd say this album is now beginning to move swimmingly. The actress, who plays Runway assistant Andrea Sachs, was seen hot-footing down a road in New York for one scene. And I've no doubt she was legging it from her mega-bitch boss Miranda Priestly, played by the brilliant Meryl Streep. The pair are reprising their roles, alongside Stanley Tucci's Nigel Kipling, for the follow-up to the hit 2006 film. She admitted she learnt to dance for the audition and added: 'I had to convince Madonna that I can dance and sing, and sing with her.' ALESHA'S IN IT FOR THE LOVE 9 Alesha Dixon is back in the studio making new music Credit: Getty ALESHA DIXON is already back in the studio working on new tunes – just a year after dropping her comeback single Ransom. The Britain's Got Talent judge shared a video of herself recording a new song in a London music studio i with fans on Instagram. It's been ten years since Alesha's last album, Do It For Love, and last year she told Bizarre's Howell she's just putting out the tunes she wants to make. Alesha, right, said. 'I'm an independent artist so it's a lot, energetically, for me to put myself back out there. 'At this point in my life and career, it's just about what makes me feel good.' With October marking a decade since Do It For Love, we're really hoping that she'll release something to coincide with the anniversary. LULU is returning to the stage in a new musical of To Sir, With Love, 58 years after starring in the original movie with Sidney Poitier. The Beatles legend was seen greeting fans outside the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall before helping to honour a number of leading figures in the entertainment world who were made LIPA companions yesterday. The Wombats, who met and formed at LIPA, were honoured by Paul during the ceremony, along with actors James Nesbitt and Adrian Lester. Paul also handed out an honour to movie director Sam Mendes. It's certainly perfect timing for the pair to get together, with Sam's four film biopics about the Fab Four currently in pre-production. From what I've heard, the films are already coming together brilliantly, with stars, Paul Mescal, Harris Dickinson, Joseph Quinn and Barry Keoghan preparing to start filming in the coming months. ZARA'S HOT TIFF TRACK 9 Swedish singer Zara Larsson has lined up a very surprising collaboration Credit: Splash ZARA LARSSON has worked with everyone from MNEK to David Guetta and Clean Bandit. Now the Swedish singer has lined up a very surprising collaboration – and I think it will go down a storm with her fans. Insiders have told me Zara has called on reality TV sensation Tiffany 'New York' Pollard for a new single called Hot And Sexy. She became an internet sensation on a series of shows in the US before a stint on Celebrity Big Brother here in 2016, where she clashed with Gemma Collins. She also went viral during her infamous 'David's dead' breakdown, where she mistakenly believed their housemate David Gest had died, after Angie Bowie told her that her ex-husband, rock star David, had passed away. A source said: 'Zara is a big fan of Tiffany's and has seen the cultural significance of what she does. 'On TikTok, Tiffany is off the charts and Zara approached her to see if she wanted to team up. 'Tiff helped write the track as well as singing alongside Zara on it. 'It's such a fun, upbeat song – it's going to be massive. 'Zara had so much fun working with her. 'They're going to be firm friends for life.' Tiff is outspoken, feisty and isn't afraid to tell you exactly what she's thinking. I'm here for this new pop star era, and you can bet her fans will lose their minds when Hot And Sexy drops. NET CATFISH FREE TICKETS CATFISH AND THE BOTTLEMEN fans have been snapping up tickets for their homecoming show in Cardiff on Friday – after they were given away for free. The Welsh band have struggled to fill the city's Principality Stadium, with Ticketmaster teaming up with voucher websites to get bums on seats. Fans clamoured to grab their tickets, with one writing on a ticket deal website: 'Never see many of these in the principality stadium, bagged 3 tickets.' Another wrote: 'Bloody hell, going but should have waited. 'Great band and an absolute no brainer at this price.' Fans are now keeping a close eye on this Sunday's gig at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, as plenty of seats are still available. I expect Ticketmaster will be dishing out the same freebie codes too.
