It noted that the counsel for the Centre has informed "that investigation has been carried out by the investigating agency and even it is in the process of completion of the investigation and filing of charge sheet against the culprits/accused."
The Centre's counsel placed before the court two sets of sealed covered envelopes, containing a detailed progress report on the investigation, the order noted, "The two sealed covered envelopes said to contain the detailed progress report are taken on record."

"Keeping in view the status in this matter, one month's time is granted for submitting the detailed report in terms of charge sheet under Section 173 of CrPC and corresponding provision of BNSS Act, 2023," the HC said.
"It is made clear that if there is no progress made, the matter would be viewed seriously," it added.
The matter was listed for the next hearing on August 28.
The HC had on July 9 directed the NIA to submit a detailed progress report in the case.
Three women and three children, including a 10-month-old, were abducted on November 11 during an attack at a security camp in the Borobekra area of Jiribam district.
Two civilians were also killed in the attack.
The bullet-riddled bodies of the six persons were recovered from the Barak river along the Manipur-Assam border on November 15.

ED calls Michel's plea for release in AgustaWestland case 'misleading'
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday informed a court that the plea of alleged middleman Christian Michel James for release in the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper case was "misleading and devoid of any merits." Special judge Sanjay Jindal was hearing James' plea for release on the ground that he had undergone the maximum period of sentence of seven years for the purported offences. The EDs in its reply said, "That with respect to the submissions made by the accused Christian Michel James that he has already undergone the period of maximum sentence prescribed for the offences for which he was extradited to India from United Arab Emirates, so, he is entitled to be released by virtue of the provisions of section 436 A of CrPC it is most respectfully submitted that the aforesaid submissions are misleading and devoid of any merits." Section 436 A of the erstwhile CrPC deals with maximum period for which an under trial prisoner can be detained. The ED reply said under the prevention of money laundering act (PMLA) provision, the the maximum sentence prescribed for the offence of money laundering was seven years. "The date of the arrest in the present case being December 22, 2018, the maximum period of imprisonment provided for the offence has yet not expired and therefore the present entitlement sought by the accused under the provisions of section 436A of CrPC is premature and is therefore liable to be dismissed," it added. On August 4, the ED and CBI opposed the plea of Michel's counsel Aljo K Joseph that he was entitled to be released under provisions of Section 436A of the CrPC. James was extradited from Dubai in December 2018 and was subsequently arrested by the CBI and the ED. He was granted bail in the CBI case by the Supreme Court on February 18 this year. Two weeks later, he was granted bail in the ED case by the Delhi High Court. Michel, however, has not furnished bail bonds and remains in Tihar prison, awaiting the renewal of his passport. The ED chargesheet led against James in June 2016 alleged that he received 30 million euros (about Rs 225 crore) from AgustaWestland. Trial ends in ‘12 working days', man gets life for friend's murder
Meerut: A court in Bulandshahr on Tuesday convicted a 25-year-old man and sentenced him to life in jail for killing his friend on March 15 this year. The trial - under UP Police's 'Operation Conviction' initiative - began on July 16 and was completed in just 12 working days. Akash Kumar, 23, from Khurja, Bulandshahr, used to work with his friend Rahul Kumar, 25, and sold helmets in Delhi. It is alleged that Akash used to often mock Rahul's struggling financial situation. Things turned ugly in Holi when both returned home. Rahul had invited Akash for drinks in an empty farm in Gothni village. "An argument broke out between the two, and in a fit of rage, Rahul struck Akash's head and face with a sharp, heavy object before fleeing. His body was found the next morning," said ADGC Vijay Sharma. The ADGC added an FIR was registered under BNS section 103 (1) (murder) on March 16, and nine witnesses were produced in the court of ADJ-III Varun Mohit Nigam. Police arrested Rahul soon after the incident, and the weapon used in the murder was also found. The film is being backed by producer Sahil Seth under the banner of Cinedust 18 Films Pvt. Ltd. In a significant verdict delivered on July 31, 2025, the special NIA court in Mumbai acquitted all seven accused, citing that the prosecution had failed to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt. The case was originally handled by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad before being transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in 2011.
