SHOCK & GORE I visited grim, gory London Dungeons & was frightened out of my wits – it's a perfect day out with teenage kids
THE door slams shut as we enter the waiting lift . . .
Everything goes black and starts to shake.

Could we actually be stuck here? After a bit too long, the door creaks open and we pile out with relief.
My 15-year-old daughter Dulci and I have come to The London Dungeon for the afternoon to be frightened out of our wits!
We start by moving through a dense corridor where we are stalked by some eerie screams. We're scared already, so link arms. Then the 90-minute tour begins.
As we enter a series of rooms, the grimmest, goriest stories of London's history are played out before us, by actors who are more convincing than they need to be.

We're in London's notorious Newgate prison, where a witch in a cage is loudly proclaiming her innocence.
It's not the most salubrious of places. But wait, it's pitch black again. Oh no, now what's going on?
Well, that would spoil it, wouldn't it? Let's just say it's an immersive experience.

Dulci deals with it by keeping her eyes firmly shut. By now we are holding hands — very tightly. We find ourselves in Mrs Lovett's pie shop.
She is besties with Sweeney Todd, the crazed and murderous demon barber.
Her hearty-looking pies are filled with . . . no, let's not go there. But the blood and gore theme has just got started.

There is a dead body before us lying on a slab. Who knew an audience at an autopsy of a plague victim with a deranged surgeon could be so much fun?

In fact, it is the highlight of the afternoon for Dulci. What is so glorious about The London Dungeon experience is that you know something scary is around the corner, but you can't figure out what.
You can't even get any respite in the loos — as there are screams and wails in there, too. We had a memorable experience and Dulci said it was just the right level of scariness.
Afterwards, it was surreal emerging into the light on the South Bank, with the Houses of Parliament standing serene across the river.
Reassuring, under the circumstances.

Strictly star investigated over drug use on show 'also suspected of drinking'

The BBC has reportedly launched a probe to investigate claims of cocaine use by two stars of Strictly Come Dancing, with a fresh claim one of the stars involved was also drinking on the show. According to The Sun, a celebrity has alleged that it was 'well known on the show that two stars took cocaine.' In response to the allegations, BBC bosses are said to have launched an enquiry using external lawyers. The claims were reportedly made in March by law firm Russells, on behalf of former contestant and opera singer Wynne Evans. According to the tabloid, other sources have also reported allegations of drug use to the BBC. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your show in the link we'll send you so we can get TV news tailored to you. The publication has since reported that one of the stars involved in the probe was also suspected of drinking, after other cast and crew smelled alcohol on their breath. A TV insider told the tabloid: 'The person in question is renowned for loving to party. 'On a very physical show like Strictly, with lots of sets and moving parts, the idea of someone being intoxicated in any way is wholly unacceptable.' The publication also claimed that the BBC was set to offer the two stars involved in the drugs probe the opportunity to attend rehab. A BBC spokesperson previously told Metro: 'We have clear protocols and policies in place for dealing with any serious complaint raised with us.' Of the claims, the BBC's spokesperson continued: 'We would always encourage people to speak to us if they have concerns. 'It would not be appropriate for us to comment further.' As a part of the probe, former contestants, cast and crew alike will all be given the opportunity to speak to law firm Pinsent Masons about their concerns. This comes as a celebrity source told The Sun that it is 'well known on the show that two stars took cocaine…it was talked about widely among the cast'. Meanwhile, one Strictly star allegedly described another person on the show as being 'off their face.' The Sun has not named the stars who have been accused of taking cocaine. This comes at a fraught time for the BBC – and less than a year after its investigation into allegations of bullying on the Strictly set concluded. A probe was launched into claims of misconduct by professional Giovanni Pernice, who was forced to step down amid claims that he had bullied actress Amanda Abbington during their rehearsals together. After months of investigating, the BBC upheld two moments of 'inappropriate behaviour of sexual banter in the workplace' The investigation uncovered no findings relating to physical aggression, but complaints of verbal bullying and harassment were upheld, according to the PA news agency. More recently, the BBC dropped former Strictly contestant Wynne Evans from his BBC Wales rolling contract after a series of controversies. The singer sparked furore when his professional dance partner Katya Jones appeared to move his hand from her waist – which he said was .just a body language experiment that was picked up on'. The pair maintained that this was a 'silly joke' which had simply misfired, but the opera singer was struck with more controversy when reports emerged that he'd made an 'unacceptable joke' about Strictly Live host Janette Manrara. More Trending Evans subsequently apologised, describing himself as 'deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate action caused' and would take a break from the public eye for 'self-reflection' and to 'prioritise my wellbeing'. Metro contacted the BBC for comment on this story. A version of this story was originally published on August 3. View More » Strictly Come Dancing returns to the BBC this autumn. Got a story? Love Island fans convinced show couple have secretly SPLIT after spotting tell-tale sign

Eagle-eyed viewers think it is all over for one recently rekindled pair who were dumped from the ITV2 show just days before the final. In a telling move, Conor failed to acknowledge or thank his villa partner Megan in his post-villa social media message. Taking to Instagram after being booted and just moments before the final, Conor wrote: "The craziest 8 weeks of my life. Thank you so much for all the support. "Hope I did all you guys proud, especially my Irish people." Conor went on to share a series of snaps with his fellow axed Islanders but failed to post a photo with Megan. He further congratulated winners Toni and Cach in another social media snub to Megan. Viewers watching along at home were also left trying to spot them together in the audience with many claiming they could not be seen - fuelling further speculation that the pair could have secretly split over the weekend. One fan wrote online: "I havent seen Conor and Megan together all night!!" As another added: "Anyone spotted that Conor and Megan were sat apart?!" Elsewhere, when Megan was brought up to the sofa to be interviewed by Maya, she was not joined by Conor. Love Island champs Toni and Cach reveal how they'll spend £50k winnings as they beat Shakira and Harry Fellow couples Tommy and Lucy and Ben and Andrada were featured together in the segment. Megan and Conor were dumped from the villa just days before the final after failing to be voted as one of the most compatible couples in the villa. Following their show axe, fans noticed how Megan and Conor did also tellingly not return for the show's final vote - which resulted in the axe of Dejon and Meg. On Sunday night, 18 former Islanders returned to the villa to vote out one couple from the new bottom two, which comprised of Angel & Ty and Meg & Dejon. Fans quickly noticed the couple's absence and questioned why they did not take part despite still being in Spain and appearing on After Sun. The Sun can now reveal the real reason why Megan and Conor were absent from casting a vote with the other Islanders. "They were dumped as part of the public vote that also decided who was in the bottom two couples - so it wouldn't have been fair to let them vote," a source told the The Sun. "The vote was only for people who had been axed in previous dumpings, not the current one." 4 Megan was not joined by Conor in her first screen interview Credit: Shutterstock Editorial

Chloe Ayling's undiagnosed condition that ‘explains so much' revealed 8 years after she was kidnapped & put in suitcase

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) CHLOE Ayling's undiagnosed condition has been revealed eight years after she was kidnapped and put in a suitcase. A new BBC documentary that aired last night has shed light on the horrific episode as the British model says people still don't believe her story. Chloe Ayling has been accused by trolls online of staging her own kidnapping, in a horror which she says "never ends". The outlandish events she described in addition to her unemotional retelling of the story sparked questions on whether it was all a publicity stunt. Her heartbreaking documentary - entitled My Unbelievable Kidnapping - poses an interesting new theory. It takes viewers through the terrifying mission to save the model from Herba's clutches, as well as her appearance on Big Brother just a year after being kidnapped. Towards the end of the documentary, she receives a formal diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder which she said explained so much - not just about her reactions during her ordeal but about her life before and since. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental condition that affects how people communicate, interact with others, and behave. "I had a lot of difficulties with communication,' she explains in the documentary, while poring over childhood pictures. "I'd react in the wrong way. If I was being told off I would smile. I just had the wrong reactions to things. "My mum would come with me on school trips because I wouldn't be able to say what I wanted or express how I was feeling. "For ages I just said I'm not an emotional person, but now I realise that no matter now hard I try, I just can't express emotion." Chilling moment glamour model Chloe Ayling was kidnapped is recreated in first look at show on Big Brother star's ordeal Trolls claimed she lacked emotion after she delivered a statement from her mother's house. She emerged from the house with a smile and dressed in a revealing vest top and tiny pair of shorts that seemed at odds with the seriousness of the situation. Chloe, now 28, has spent years fighting to convince others about what happened. Upon arriving at the "studio" on that day in 2017, she was driven to a remote warehouse in Truin by Lukasz Herba. 9 She was held in a village in Turin Credit: Ray Collins - The Sun 9 Police reconstructed the kidnapping as part of their investigation Credit: Enterprise News and Pictures Herba was a 30-year-old computer programmer from Oldbury, West Midlands, who held Chloe hostage for a week. He was eventually arrested and jailed for his crime. Despite Herba being jailed, the model revealed that she still faces backlash online for speaking out about his crime. The documentary follows Chloe's recovery from the incident, as well as how she dealt with the scrutiny over a photograph of her shown holding her kidnapper's hand in an Italian village. Speaking about how she remained so calm in CCTV footage, Chloe said: "I had to get him on side to be able to get out. "I want to show a victim doesn't have to fit into a typical box to be believed." A TV series dramatising the event was released on the BBC last year, entitled Kidnapped: The Chloe Ayling Story. It depicts how she was held in the farm house for six days, while her kidnapper demanded €300,000 (£265,000) in ransom money. Herba and his brother Michael were eventually arrested though and handed 16-year prison sentences. 9 Chloe was a successful model before the kidnapping Credit: chloeayling97/Instagram 9 Chloe appeared on Big Brother a year after the kidknapping Credit: Rex Features 9 She says the fallout from the kidnapping 'never ends' Credit: Refer to Caption
