Whether you're a gardening expert or a novice beginner, there's no reason why you can't create your own orchard in your backyard or on your patio.
If you've been yearning for fresh, homegrown fruit during the summer months, there's no need to worry about your experience or your budget, as this Fruit Tree Collection at Thompson & Morgan comes to the rescue.
This set includes five covetable fruit trees: apples, pears, cherries, and plums. Thanks to this special offer, it is also budget-friendly at £49.99, down from £84.95.
Perfect for keeping in pots on your patio or decking, or for planting straight into your garden, this mini fruit tree set is a great, wallet-friendly way to start creating your own little orchard that's set to keep your fruit bowl full for seasons to come.
These patio fruit trees have been specifically chosen for their dwarf habit, which makes them ideal for growing in large containers, regardless of what space is available.
The 5-piece set includes a Golden Delicious apple tree, an easy-to-grow variety that produces masses of attractive golden-green apples that store well over a long period after harvesting, making them great for use in cooking or eating cold.
This gala tree is another apple tree in the collection. It is a reliable cultivar that produces attractive, red-flowered fruits that boast a surprisingly sweet flavour when eaten straight from the tree or used to make a delicious juicing apple.
The bundle also includes the best-known of all pear trees, the Conference, which produces excellent fruit that can be enjoyed as a dessert pear but also tastes exceptional when cooked. The long, bell-shaped fruits with firm flesh can be eaten hard or fully ripe, and they have a smooth, juicy flavour.
The collection is also stocked with a self-fertile Black Amber plum tree, which promises to yield plenty of rounded, firm purple fruits with a deliciously juicy texture. The last tree in the set is this self-fertile Sylvia cherry tree, a dwarf cherry tree that is sure to be an ideal plant for the patio, where it makes a great focal point in spring as pale pink cherry blossom cloaks the branches.
This set is available for the reduced price of £49.99 at Thompson & Morgan, Dobies, or Suttons, or you can find a similar set on Amazon for the slightly lower price of £39.99.
Raking in plenty of reviews, one 5-star rater beams about this set, writing: "Arrived very fast and well packed in first class condition, planted out and are growing away very happily."
A third chimes in: "Usual excellent condition of plants securely and safely packaged. Ideal mini orchard for limited space."
While this shopper shares: "Superbly packaged really healthy looking plants."

Builth Wells Rotary recognises unsung heroes in community

Unsung heroes in Builth Wells have been honoured for their public service. Builth Wells Rotary awarded community service awards this year to three groups and individuals for their dedication to public service. Honoured on this occasion were St Mary's Church Bell Ringers, Richard Morgan for his services to Scouting, and Gwyn and Lisa Davies of The Fountain Inn, Builth Wells. The awards were presented by Robert Evans, Builth Wells Rotary president. St Mary's Bell Ringers have been providing a familiar sound in the town since 1812, ringing their bells regularly for various occasions. With a group of about eight volunteers, they not only perform for Sunday services and other community events but also contribute in maintaining the flower beds around the town war memorial, becoming integral elements of the community. Mr Morgan, in his role as group chair of the 1st Builth Wells Scout Group, has been noted for his tireless contribution to maintain the presence of scouting in the town, even project managing the hut renovation since March 2020. He has also been an active member of Builth Fest Carnival Committee since 2016, a parent governor at Llanelwedd CinW Primary School since February 2020. In 2018, Mr Morgan walked from Llandudno to Cardiff along with two friends to raise funds for Powys Sands and the Forget Me Not Suite at Hereford Hospital. Known for their warm hospitality at The Fountain Inn in Builth Wells, Mr and Mrs Davies have been lauded for initiating and organising support for cancer research, including the popular Christmas Tractor Run for Bracken Trust.

‘Massive' pastel blue Hydrangea that ‘blooms 30 flowers in first season' is now half-price

Add a dazzling dash of colour to your garden with this 'massive' powder blue hydrangea plant that's currently on offer for half its normal price thanks to this gardening deal Hydrangeas are beautiful plants that sprout up everywhere in the summer season. They earn pride of place in gardens thanks to their large size and vibrant colours, which transform any outside space into a floral display. A monster of a plant, as they can be expected to throw out up to 30 strong flower heads during their first flowering season in your garden. A wonderful Hydrangea variety with huge flowers, often found in high-class florist bouquets, it has really massive blooms that elevate any garden, border or patio. And right now, green-thumbed shoppers can get their hands on a delicate and stunning pastel blue specimen for half its normal price, as it plummets all the way down to £19.99 in this Gardening Express sale. Hydrangeas offer masses of healthy growth each year and quickly establish, producing massive, bright flower clusters even when planted in a dull, shady spot. This makes them a great choice for sprucing up any area, whether you'd like to brighten a boring border or create a vibrant and eye-catching centrepiece in your backyard. This large-flowered mop-head variety has huge powder blue blooms, up to the size of a football when fully established. These blooms literally cover the plant all summer before fading to an attractive purple-burgundy shade during the autumn season. On heavily alkaline soils, the blooms will turn from Blue to pink and can even be pale lavender mauve somewhere between the two, depending on the soil pH. These are larger plants and great value for a specimen of such size and age. For best results season after season, it's recommended that you cut this plant near ground level over winter each year so you can watch it throw up masses of strong new stems and big blooms each summer. These plants are very strong and ready to grow away with vigour, no matter where you plant them. The special Hydrangeas are guaranteed chunky, healthy plants that will flower well all summer and into early Autumn, so you can enjoy the array of colour in your outdoor area for nearly half of the year. Looking beautiful in summer, these are supplied as fully-established XXXL plants in approx 10 litre containers that are ready to simply be planted and left alone. Sit back and relax and watch as these huge plants transform flower beds, borders or patio planters with their generous size, high yield of flowers and bold colours. If you'd prefer to shop elsewhere at full price, Gardener's Dream is offering this Hydrangea 'Blue Ballad' for £26.23, or Thompson & Morgan has this Hydrangea macrophylla 'Blue Danube' from £29.99, as does Dobies for the same price.
