Time of India6 days ago
Lucknow: UP govt has begun a detailed review of facilities at all police training centres in the state following a massive protest by women constable trainees against lack of amenities at the training centre in Gorakhpur on Wednesday.
Principal secretary, home, Sanjay Prasad and DGP Rajeev Krishna held a high-level video conference with senior police officials and PAC commandants to assess the situation at all 29 PAC battalion-based training centres on Thursday. They directed officials to fix shortcomings immediately and ensure that all recruits receive quality foundational training supported by adequate amenities.
"We will ensure that all listed SOPs are followed and effective communication is established between training centre officials and the trainees," DGP told TOI.
The state govt has mandated that all training centres get uninterrupted water and electricity supply, safe accommodation, proper sanitation, and enhanced security—particularly for women recruits. Special instructions have been issued to ensure the presence of women wardens, guarantee privacy, and establishing a robust feedback and grievance redressal mechanism.
Taking the Gorakhpur incident seriously, the govt suspended 26th Battalion Commandant Anand Kumar and RTC in-charge Platoon Commander Sanjay Rai.

Of these, 13,940 recruits—including 1,533 women—are being trained at the 29 PAC battalion-based centres.

Who is Shama Parveen Ansari? Jharkhand woman living in Bengaluru behind al-Qaeda propaganda network; has 2 Facebook accounts, 10k Instagram followers

Shama Parveen's arrest from her rented flat in Hebbal has sent shockwaves through intelligence circles. NEW DELHI: Shama Parveen Ansari, a 30-year-old woman originally from Jharkhand and living in Bengaluru for the past three years, has emerged as a key figure in a growing radicalisation network allegedly promoting al-Qaeda's ideology in India. Her arrest by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) from her rented flat in Hebbal's Manorayanapalya has sent shockwaves through intelligence circles. Parveen, who was residing with her younger brother, had no formal employment and lived a quiet, low-profile life — but behind the scenes, she was allegedly amplifying jihadist propaganda through social media. Through these platforms, she reportedly shared radical sermons, speeches, and anti-India content aligned with the ideology of al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), a banned terrorist outfit. She allegedly called upon followers to support jihadist causes and engaged with content designed to radicalise viewers. The ATS says Parveen was directly linked to one of the four men arrested last week in a multi-state operation that uncovered a broader terror module. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Play this game for 1 minute and see why everyone is crazy about it Undo She was reportedly following and interacting with several radicalised individuals online who had already been under surveillance. 'Prove you're Indian!': Pune Hindutva activists storm Kargil war veteran's family home and demand citizenship proof

A family in Pune , whose member is a Kargil war veteran , has claimed they were harassed by nearly 80 people allegedly linked to a Hindutva outfit. The group allegedly barged into their house late at night and demanded proof of Indian citizenship, accusing them of being Bangladeshis. As per a PTI report, the incident reportedly took place just after midnight on Saturday in the Chandannagar area. The family said that even though some policemen in plain clothes were present, they did nothing to stop the group. When we opened it, some barged in and demanded to see our Aadhaar cards. Even after showing our documents, they said they were fake and forced the women and children to show theirs too.' Live Events Despite explaining that their family had lived in Pune for over 60 years, and that three members of the family had served in the Army, the group reportedly continued hurling abuses and accused them of being illegal immigrants. Irshad added that the group chanted 'Jai Shree Ram' and tried to drag family members to the police station. Two men in plain clothes, who said they were police officers, stood by silently during the entire episode, according to Irshad. At the police station, the family was reportedly made to wait for two hours. 'The woman police inspector took our papers and told us to return the next day. She warned that if we didn't, we would be labelled Bangladeshi nationals ,' Irshad said. The next day, the family returned to the station. 'We were told not to file a complaint and to stay quiet. Now the police are trying to claim no one entered our house that night,' he added. Irshad said their documents were completely valid. 'If there was any problem, they would have acted. Now they're asking us to keep quiet,' he claimed. He mentioned that many of their relatives had served the nation. 'My uncle was injured in the 1971 war and received an award for bravery. Another uncle fought alongside Abdul Hameed in the 1965 war,' he said. Hakimuddin Shaikh, who fought in Kargil and now lives in Uttar Pradesh, also confirmed the family's long-standing ties to Pune. 'My uncle Mohammad Salim joined the Indian Army from Pune. What happened to my family was wrong. If needed, I will personally speak to the police,' he said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Somay Munde denied that any large group had barged into the house. 'Some police officials went to the house to verify documents under a city-wide drive against illegal Bangladeshi nationals. Since it was night, only some men were asked to come to the police station. No women were brought. The documents seemed fine,' he said. He also stated that the police had video footage of the inquiry. Rahul Dambale, president of the National Conference for Minority , said the Hindutva group attempted to intimidate the family. 'We have demanded an FIR and will meet Pune's Commissioner of Police to seek strict action,' he said. The family continues to seek justice and clarity, as they believe they were unfairly targeted despite their deep roots and service to the country. Inputs from PTI

Court seeks Rhea Chakraborty's response to the CBI closure report in Sushant Singh Rajput's death case, till August 12

Sushant Singh Rajput passed away on June 14, 2020 but investigation was going on surrounding it as the actor's family suspected a foul play in his death. However the CBI ( Central Bureau of Investigation ) filed a closure report in this case and gave a clean chit to Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty in March this year. Now as per the latest update on the matter, a Mumbai court has issued a notice to Rhea, thus seeking her response to the closure report filed by the CBI. According to PTI, Earlier this month, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate R D Chavan, handling the case at the Esplanade court, issued a notice to the original complainant or victim, Chakraborty. While hearing the case, Magistrate R D Chavan directed, "Issue notice to the original informant / victim / aggrieved person," and postponed the proceedings until it is confirmed that Chakraborty has received the notice. She has been given time to respond by August 12. The notice is a procedural step that allows the complainant a chance to challenge the investigating agency's decision to close the case. Rhea had originally filed a complaint in this case against Sushant Singh Rajput's sisters — Priyanka Singh and Meetu Singh — as well as Dr. Tarun Nathu Ram. She accused them of helping Rajput get prescription medicines without proper medical supervision. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Test Test Tabbola Undo According to the actress, Rajput had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and often stopped taking his medication. She raised concerns that his sister arranged for the medicines through text messages, despite his mental health condition. She also claimed that the prescription used to obtain the drugs was fake. Based on her complaint, an FIR was registered under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
