The music world mourns the loss of Cavin Yarbrough, one-half of the iconic R&B duo Yarbrough & Peoples, who passed away at the age of 72.
Yarbrough passed away on Thursday, June 19, due to complications from heart disease, as confirmed by his wife and musical partner Alisa Peoples via press release. 'He was the love of my life, my protector. Now he's my guardian angel,' Alisa said.
The duo's longtime friend and rep, Michele Elyzabeth, added: 'Cavin was not only an extraordinary talent, but a kind man with a great heart. His legacy will live on in the music, in our memories, and in the hearts of everyone who knew him.'
Known for their chart-topping hits and enduring partnership, Yarbrough & Peoples left an indelible mark on the 1980s music scene.
The duo first captured hearts with their 1981 smash hit, 'Don't Stop The Music,' a funky, electronic anthem that soared to #1 on the R&B charts. Alisa's soulful vocals paired with Cavin's musical prowess created a sound that resonated deeply with fans. Their success continued with hits like 'Heartbeats,' 'I Wouldn't Lie,' and 'Guilty,' solidifying their place as one of the top R&B acts of the early '80s.
Cavin and Alisa's journey began long before their rise to fame. The two met as children in Dallas during piano lessons, forming a friendship that blossomed into a songwriting partnership and eventually a romantic relationship. Their talent caught the attention of Charlie Wilson, who helped them secure a songwriting contract with Lonnie Simmons' Total Experience Records. It wasn't long before their vocal abilities turned them into recording artists.
Despite their success, the duo faced challenges, including disputes over compensation and the pressures of the Los Angeles lifestyle. In 1986, they left Total Experience Records, married the following year, and returned to Dallas to focus on their personal and spiritual lives. There, they launched a production company and served as music directors at their local church.
Yarbrough & Peoples continued to tour and even ventured into acting. In 2021, they were honored at The Black Academy of Arts and Letters in Dallas, celebrating the 40th anniversary of 'Don't Stop The Music.'
Cavin Yarbrough's passing marks the end of an era for fans who cherished his contributions to music. His legacy, however, will live on through the timeless hits and the love story that inspired them.

Judge Denies Bail for Sean 'Diddy' Combs Following Guilty Verdict in Federal Trial

Source: Variety / Getty Sean 'Diddy' Combs will remain behind bars after a federal judge denied him bail Tuesday, just hours after a jury found the music mogul guilty on two federal charges related to transporting women across state lines for illegal sexual activity. Judge Arun Subramanian ruled against Combs' release as concerns mounted from victims' advocates about the safety of witnesses and alleged survivors connected to the case. The decision came shortly after a partial guilty verdict was delivered in the high-profile trial that has gripped the entertainment industry for months. A New York federal jury convicted Combs on Count 3 and Count 5, both violations of the Mann Act, for transporting two women, including singer Casandra 'Cassie' Ventura and another former girlfriend referred to as 'Jane,' across state lines for illicit purposes. However, the jury acquitted Combs on three other charges, including the most serious: Count 1, racketeering conspiracy. He was also found not guilty of sex trafficking allegations tied to both women. The mixed verdict followed over 14 hours of deliberation and concluded a seven-week trial marked by explosive testimony. More than 30 witnesses, including former staff, industry insiders, and alleged victims, detailed a disturbing pattern of abuse, coercion, and systemic coverups that prosecutors claimed were orchestrated from within Combs' inner circle. Despite his acquittal on racketeering and sex trafficking counts, the Mann Act convictions carry serious legal consequences and could result in a significant prison sentence. Victims' rights attorney Gloria Allred weighed in on the ruling during an interview with CNN, applauding the judge's decision to deny bail and highlighting broader concerns about witness safety. 'I am very concerned about Mr. Combs being released on bail,' Allred said. 'Some of [the potential witnesses] were on the witness list turned over to the defense but have not been made public. They overcame a lot of fear just to speak to law enforcement and tell the truth. And they were very much afraid.' Allred stressed that the fear and trauma these individuals have faced should not be underestimated, especially now that Combs' legal fate is in the hands of the court. Combs, 55, remains in federal custody as sentencing preparations begin. Sentencing has been set for Oct. 3 at 10 a.m. SEE ALSO Judge Denies Bail for Sean 'Diddy' Combs Following Guilty Verdict in Federal Trial was originally published on

Diddy Acquitted On RICO & Sex Trafficking Charges, Found Guilty Of Transportation To Engage In Prostitution, Social Media Reacts

Source: ANGELA WEISS / Getty Diddy has been found not guilty of racketeering conspiracy, not guilty of sex trafficking, and guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He is facing a maximum of 10 years in prison, but he has yet to be sentenced. The verdict wraps up Diddy's legal issues, which went public in 2023 when ex-girlfriend Cassie filed a bombshell lawsuit against him, accusing him of a ' cycle of abuse, violence, and sex trafficking ' during their relationship, which began in 2007 and ended in 2018. Parts of her claims were later proven when a video showed him dragging her down the hallway of a Los Angeles hotel before kicking her several times. He'd later say in a video apology he was 'truly sorry' and his actions were 'inexcusable.' A settlement was reached the next day, but it was enough for other alleged victims to come forward, accusing him of abusing his power within the music industry, and taking advantage of them. Many of the accusers —men and women, some underage— painted similar stories of being drugged via laced alcoholic beverages, over the course of about 20 years. At one point, t he Washington Post reported that the Hip-Hop mogul could face up to 120 allegations via lawsuits, represented by Houston lawyer Tony Buzbee. One even named Jay Z alongside Diddy, but the claim was later dropped because the alleged victim's story had too many inconsistencies. Combs' homes in Los Angeles, New York, and Miami were searched in March 2024, and along with laptops and hard drives being seized, thousands of bottles of baby oil were found. It wouldn't be until September 2024 that he'd be arrested at his New York City hotel on suspicion of sex trafficking and racketeering. He'd remained incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn while being denied bail three times. Eventually, he began his trial in May, with New York federal judge Arun Subramanian presiding. Once the trial began, stories of Diddy's sexual life came out. Victims and sex workers testifying to his freak-off sex parties and how he'd pay prostitutes to have sex with Cassie while he'd watch and film it and have miniswimming pools filled with warm baby oil strewn around the room. Kid Cudi would later testify about Diddy being so jealous of his short-lived relationship with Cassie that he tossed a Molotov cocktail inside his Porsche and broke into his home. Cassie also testified as the prosecutions first witness and spoke on the sex parties and being raped by him and threatening to release their sex tapes. Now that the trial has wrapped, see how social media is reacting to the verdict below. Cassius Gems: Rumored New ‘Wonder Woman' Adria Arjona's Most Stunning Instagram Moments

Source: Stephane Cardinale – Corbis / Getty Who you choose to follow on social media is crucial, but when you're a movie director like James Gunn, hitting that follow button could reveal a major casting decision. A rumor has been floating around that Gunn may choose Adria Arjona as the next Wonder Woman to replace Gal Gadot. Suspicions became more concrete when she was spotted in his Instagram following list, so Extra asked Gunn about it while he was making the media rounds for the latest Superman movie. Of course, he coyly avoided a straightforward answer, saying, 'I follow Adria on Instagram but everybody came out [and said], 'He just followed her, that means she's Wonder Woman,'' Gunn said. He added, 'She'd be a great Wonder Woman, by the way.' Certainly not helping his case, he brings up that he worked with Arjona on one of his films a few years ago, confirming they already have a working relationship. 'She was in a movie that I made seven years ago. We've been friends and have known each other since that time. I followed her then, I didn't just follow her,' he added. The movie he's referring to is Greg McLean's The Belko Experiment , which was released in 2016 and written by Gunn. Back in April, social media had already noticed that he'd double-tapped some of Arjona's photos, and Cinemablend asked her about the Wonder Woman casting rumor; she, too, avoided a proper answer by praising him. 'I love James Gunn. He gave me my first movie ever, which was like my first studio movie,' Arjona responded. 'So I owe him a lot.' However, when pressed further on whether the social media follow meant anything, the actress crossed her fingers and said, 'I don't know.' The Puerto Rico native may have gotten her first big film nod from Gunn, but she's carried that momentum into other roles in Pacific Rim Uprising , 6 Underground , Morbius , and Father Of The Bride . She also served as a beloved character in Star Wars: Andor, and fans are eagerly awaiting her return to the comic book world. While she hasn't been named as the next Wonder Woman yet, get to know her better through her Instagram photos below.
