Mobile production surges by 146% to ₹5.25 lakh crore in 4 fiscals, exports up 775%: Piyush Goyal
During the same period, exports of mobile phones in value terms has increased by around 775 per cent from ₹22,870 crore in 2020-21 to ₹2,00,000 crore in 2024-25.

PLI Scheme
has encouraged major smartphone companies to shift their production to India. As a result, India has become a major mobile phone manufacturing country.
Due to the PLI scheme, there has also been a significant reduction in imports of raw materials in the pharma sector. Unique intermediate materials and bulk drugs are being manufactured in India including Penicillin-G, and transfer of technology has happened in manufacturing of Medical Devices such as (CT scan, MRI etc.).
The PLI Scheme for White Goods is aimed at developing a robust component ecosystem for the Air Conditioners and LED Lights industry in India, with the goal of making the country an integral part of global supply chains.
Following its launch, India has begun local production of key components such as compressors, copper tubes, heat exchangers, motors, and control assemblies for air conditioners, as well as LED chip packaging, drivers, engines, light management systems, and metallized films for capacitors in the LED segment.
This shift is significantly reducing import dependency and strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities, the minister further stated.
The government has also launched
Make in India
2.0 initiative which presently focuses on 27 sectors implemented across various ministries/departments and state governments.
He further stated that the government has approved 12 new project proposals under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP) with total project cost of ₹28,602 crore to facilitate manufacturing investments into the country.

Passenger's big headload fell on others, led to stampede in Delhi: Vaishnaw
A BIG headload being carried by a passenger fell on others, causing the stampede at the New Delhi Railway Station on February 15 in which 18 people were killed, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Rajya Sabha Friday, citing a probe report. He said that a high-level inquiry committee constituted to examine the circumstances leading to the stampede has submitted its report. 'As per the findings of the report, an unfortunate incident on 15.02.25 happened on Foot Over Bridge (FOB)-3 stairs connecting Platform 14/15 at New Delhi Railway Station. On the day of the incident, sufficient crowd management protocols were in place to handle the overall volume of passengers at the station. There was a gradual increase of passenger density on the FOB after 20.15 hrs,' said Vaishnaw in a written reply to questions asked by Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman. Passengers were trying to board Prayagraj-bound trains for the Mahakumbh when the incident occurred. Sharing the findings of the probe report, Vaishnaw said, 'Many of the passengers were carrying big headloads affecting smooth movement on the FOB. There was a big headload falling from one of the passengers and the pressure was passed on to the stairs of PF 14/15 stairs resulting in the tripping of passengers on the stairs. This led to an incident at 20.48 hrs on FOB-3, which was limited to the stairs of FOB. Consequently, passengers fell on each other. In the incident, 18 people lost their lives and 15 others were injured.' In March this year, the Railway Minister had told the Lok Sabha that on the day of the stampede the total ticket sold was 49,000 – 13,000 more than the daily average tickets sold over the previous six months. Of the 18 people who died in the stampede, 11 were women and four children. Eyewitnesses had alleged that the stampede took place because of 'lack of crowd management' at a time when a large number of people were trying to board the Prayagraj-bound trains. Following the incident, five senior officers, including the Divisional Railway Manager of Delhi, were transferred. In his written reply on Friday, Vaishnaw said that several measures have been taken after the incident to handle heavy rush at the stations. A total of 73 stations have been identified where permanent holding areas will be created. Pilot projects have started at New Delhi, Anand Vihar, Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Ghaziabad stations. 'Two new designs of 12 metre wide (40 feet) and 6 metre wide (20 feet) standard FOB have been developed. These wide FOBs with ramps were very effective in crowd management during Mahakumbh. These new standard wide FOBs will be installed in all the stations. All major stations will have a senior officer as Station Director. All other departments will report to the Station Director. Station Director will get financial empowerment so that he can take on-the-spot decisions for improving the station,' the minister said. ED took up 5,892 PMLA cases since 2015, got convictions of 15: Govt to Rajya Sabha
The Finance Ministry has informed Rajya Sabha that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) took up 5,892 cases under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) since 2015 and secured the conviction of 15 people from these cases during the period. Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said in a written reply: 'In these cases, 1,398 Prosecution Complaints (PCs), including 353 Supplementary PCs have been filed before the respective Special Courts under PMLA. Out of which, so far, the Special Courts have framed charges in 300 Prosecution Complaints including 66 Supplementary PCs and the PMLA Special Courts have convicted 15 persons in eight conviction orders in these cases till June 30.' The minister said that the ED has filed closure reports before the special PMLA court in 49 of the total cases. In an annual report 2024-25, ED Director Rahul Navin said: 'In the early years of administering PMLA, most cases pertained to drug-related offences. Till March 2014, only 1,883 Enforcement Case Information Reports (ECIRs) had been registered — averaging fewer than 200 annually — and just 84 Prosecution Complaints (PCs) were filed, with assets under attachment only Rs 5,171.32 crore.' 'Between April 2014 and March 2024, there has been a significant scale-up in enforcement activity, with 5,113 PMLA investigations initiated — averaging 511 ECIRs annually — and 1,332 PCs filed. I am pleased to report that building on this momentum, in FY- 2024-25, 775 new PMLA investigations were launched, 333 PCs were filed, and notably, 34 individuals were convicted,' he said.

MP at the bottom in operational length of Metro network
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh ranks last in the country when it comes to the operational length of Metro networks. The operational length of the Metro in MP is 6.2 km in Indore. Total operational length of the Metro in the country is 1035.74 km. Rajasthan was the second lowest state in operational length of Metro with 12.1 km in Jaipur, compared to double the 6.2 km operational length in MP. The Metro is operational only in Indore in MP. This information was provided in the Rajya Sabha during the ongoing session in response to a question from BJP member from Karnataka, Iranna Kadadi. In his reply in the Rajya Sabha, Union minister of state in the ministry of housing and urban affairs, Tokhan Sahu, informed that the Metro is operational in 11 states of the country, including Delhi & NCR, Karnataka, Telangana, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Kerala, UP, Maharashtra, Gujarat and MP. At present, about 1,036 km of metro rail network is operational in 24 cities across the country. In the last five years, including 2025-26, 339 km of Metro network became operational across the country. The govt also revealed that it has received a loan of over Rs 2,100 crore for Bhopal and Indore Metros from different national and international agencies. He shared, "It is a matter of great joy that Prime Minister Modi has given his verbal consent to personally attend two major events — the inauguration of the Bhopal Metro train and the foundation-laying ceremony of the PM MITRA Park in Dhar." On July 27, the CM had announced that the govt is swiftly moving towards its goal of presenting Bhopal residents with the gift of Metro train service by Oct 2025. He stated that metro train services have already commenced in Indore and received an excellent response from the public. The Bhopal Metro project is also progressing rapidly, with only a few remaining tasks to be completed within the next one and a half to two months. Yadav informed that the test run of the Bhopal Metro is underway.
