Drink Wisconsinbly: Santino Ferrucci celebrates podium at Road America with fan's beer
It was hot in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, on Sunday. And Santino Ferrucci had earned a beer.
Ferrucci finished third in Sunday's Xpel Grand Prix at Road America, but like many drivers, his car ran out of fuel before he could get back to pit road.
A fan helped out by throwing a beer to him a catch fence. The 27-year-old made a nice grab and promptly chugged the beer.
Ferrucci has put up a lot of strong results recently for A.J. Foyt Racing: This was his fourth top 5 in a row, and he finished second at Detroit.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker Drawing Interest From The Pistons
Nickeil Alexander-Walker Drawing Interest From The Pistons originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Nickeil Alexander-Walker is one of the league's most underrated players, but he is quickly drawing interest around the league. He is getting closer to an exit, especially with Naz Reid signing a long-term extension with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Advertisement Since Julius Randle is set to sign an extension, Alexander-Walker is set for an exit. Randle can opt for a pay cut for the Timberwolves to re-sign Alexander-Walker, but that looks very unlikely. Credit: Jesse Johnson-Imagn Images The Detroit Pistons are one of the teams who are intrigued with Alexander-Walker. He will be available as an unrestricted free agent, so the Timberwolves cannot block a move unless Alexander-Walker wants to stay. Playing for the Pistons is enticing for Alexander-Walker because he could be part of a backcourt with Cade Cunningham. Alexander-Walker is a good fit due to his defense, three-point shooting, and underrated ability to generate offense. Bickerstaff. He loves players like him, as Cunningham can dish out the right passes for threes. Malik Beasley capitalized on this, as he became one of the league's most prolific three-point shooters in the 2024-25 season. Alexander-Walker can improve as a shooter with the Pistons, and they could be surprise contenders in the Eastern Conference. At the same time, Alexander-Walker might not get the minutes he wants playing for the Pistons. They have Cunningham and Beasley, but they also have Jaden Ivey, who is set to return in the 2025-26 season. Advertisement The fit is natural, but Alexander-Walker will be a secondary backup. He still fits like a glove, but it might not be as good as his role for the Timberwolves or other teams. Alexander-Walker Returning Will Help The Timberwolves If Alexander-Walker re-signs with the Timberwolves, it would be a display of loyalty and belief in the project. Anthony Edwards is the team's superstar, and he is continuing on his path to greatness. Alexander-Walker could be part of that as the primary backup and a backcourt partner. Alexander-Walker has all the tools to become a long-term player for the Timberwolves as they continue to contend for a championship. The Oklahoma City Thunder might have beaten them in the Western Conference Finals, but Alexander-Walker found he could stand out in that kind of setting. He was often competing hard against his cousin Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, helping the Timberwolves stay alive. Advertisement Alexander-Walker staying is the most optimal thing to do, but if another offer is on the table from the Pistons or even the Orlando Magic, he might consider leaving. Should Red Wings Try To Add Penguins' Karlsson?
Red Wings could target Pittsburgh's Erik Karlsson as blueline add with contract retention on the table. The Red Wings are looking to make several improvements in key areas of their lineup with one of them being another defenceman. Advertisement There's an obvious option on the table for GM Steve Yzerman sitting in Pittsburgh with blueliner Erik Karlsson. The 35-year-old Swede showed he still has lots of skill left in him when representing his country at the Four Nations Face-Off this past February. Pittsburgh GM Kyle Dubas has been notably rebuilding his roster with younger talent and Detroit could add to it while getting a veteran defenceman that can coach up the young Red Wings on the blueline. Dubas has noted he wants to do right by Karlsson and send him to a contender plus is willing to retain some his $10 million cap hit per season over the next two years. San Jose is already eating some of Karlsson's contract and with a max 50 per cent retained from Pittsburgh, it would leave him at just $5 million per season. Bookmark The Hockey News Detroit Red Wings team site to stay connected to the latest news, game-day coverage, and player features. The return package to Pittsburgh will be the hardest part to determine for the Red Wings as the rental of Karlsson would likely get them into the playoffs but they potentially have him for only two more years before his contract expires and he could then retire at 37 years old. Yzerman could make the move if he anticipates Karlsson having a career ending like Carolina's Brent Burns, who played this last season at 40 years old and was still effective. Karlsson finished with 53 points last season, which ranked 13th among NHL defencemen and placed him ahead of players like Jakob Chychrun, John Carlson, and Thomas Harley. He averaged 23:14 of ice time per game, the second-most on the Penguins and 33rd overall in the league. He proved he can be a reliable player with the third-most power-play minutes and the most overtime minutes on the team. Advertisement Defensively, he registered 94 blocked shots, the fourth-most on the Penguins. However, puck management was an issue, as he finished with 140 giveaways, the second-highest total in the NHL. These can be fixed and limited while giving the Red Wings a crucial right-handed shot as they only have three on the current roster. It would be a massive swing for Detroit as they would need to convince Karlsson that they will be contenders in the near future and with his immidate help, they will find themselves back in the playoff picture. The Lions receivers excelled at not dropping the ball in 2024
Among the many things the Detroit Lions thrived at during the 2024 NFL season, catching the ball really stood out. The Lions receivers were fantastic at not dropping balls from quarterback Jared Goff. The Lions finished second in drop rate in 2024, trailing only the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. Pro Football Reference tabulated 12 dropped passes on 551 targeted pass attempts, producing a drop rate of 2.2 percent. By way of comparison, Jerry Jeudy and Amari Cooper — teammates on the Cleveland Browns for the first half of the season — each topped Detroit's total of 12 on their own. Amon-Ra St. Brown is known for his sure-handedness, and that was true in 2024. St. Brown finished second in the NFL with 115 catches on 141 targets, with four drops credited to No. 14. That drop rate of 2.8 is actually higher than the Lions' team average, but it still puts the All-Pro with the third-lowest drop rate among wideouts in the top 20 in receptions. The team's drop rate improved considerably. Detroit netted a drop rate of 6.1 percent in 2023, with 35 drops on the season. St. Brown lowered his personal drop rate from 2023, when he posted a 4.9 rate with eight drops on 164 targets. The Lions team drop rate in 2023 was the fifth-worst in the league. Lions passing game targets by drops and drop rate: Special mention goes to RB David Montgomery, who did not have a dropped pass among his 38 passing targets. Wideout Kalif Raymond also went drop-free on his 22 targets.
