Bau police investigate fatal motorcycle accident at KM9 Jln Kampung Opar
KUCHING (July 18): A motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a roadside ditch at KM9 Jalan Kampung Opar in Bau last night.
Bau District Police Chief DSP Dr Daram Ruer said the incident was reported around 9.20pm.
'It is believed that the motorcyclist, who was heading from Kampung Opar heading towards Bau, lost control and crashed into a ditch after he went through a tight bend.
'He was pronounced dead at the scene by the paramedics,' he said in a statement.
Paramedics at the scene confirmed the victim died on impact.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Daram urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the nearest police station.

JOHOR BARU: A trailer carrying chemicals plunged into the sea after it was rear-ended while parked on the Second Link bridge due to a tyre puncture. Earlier today, it was reported that a chemical container had fallen into the sea following a crash involving two trailers on the bridge. One trailer was transporting propylene glycol, while the other carried sodium hypochlorite. The ISO tank containing propylene glycol plunged into the sea. However, authorities confirmed that there was no leakage from the tank, and no surface foam, oil slicks or bubbles were observed. The Johor Fire and Rescue Department's hazardous materials (Hazmat) unit was deployed to the scene as a precautionary measure to monitor for any signs of contamination.

Female driver remanded for two days over Pasir Gudang highway accident
JOHOR BARU: A 24-year-old female driver was remanded for two days after a viral video showed her allegedly driving recklessly, causing an accident at Km4 of the Pasir Gudang highway yesterday. Dashcam recording of the 12.21am accident went viral after it was uploaded on Facebook. The footage showed a Proton Wira overtaking in the right lane while a Proton Persona overtook from the left and re-entered the right lane, leading to a rear-side collision. The impact caused the Wira to lose control and crash into a road divider. The 21-year-old Wira driver lodged a police report yesterday. Johor Baru (North) police chief, Assistant Commissioner Balveer Singh, confirmed the Persona driver was remanded, and her statement was recorded. "She tested negative for alcohol and drugs following breathalyser and urine screening," Balveer said in a statement today. The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving. Three motorcyclists killed in Seremban expressway pile-up
SEREMBAN: Three motorcyclists were killed and 12 others injured in a massive pile-up involving 15 motorcycles, a car, and a lorry on the North-South Expressway early this morning. The accident occurred at KM262.5 northbound near Seremban around 2.30 am. Initial police investigations revealed that the crash began when three motorcycles at the front of a convoy collided, causing a chain reaction. 'Twelve motorcycles behind them were unable to avoid the fallen riders, leading to multiple collisions,' said Seremban district police chief ACP Mohamad Hatta Che Din. The impact also involved a car and a lorry, which were struck by some of the motorcycles. Three victims, aged between 18 and 20, died at the scene due to severe injuries. Twelve others were rushed to Hospital Tuanku Ja'afar, with two in critical condition in the ICU. Mohamad Hatta confirmed that the bodies were sent to Hospital Rembau for post-mortem.
