Shannon Sharpe Finally Breaks His Silence Over Bombshell Sexual Assault Lawsuit

Yahoo13-05-2025
Shannon Sharpe is opening up about his current legal issues. And, well...whether you're surprised at his response will likely depend on how closely you follow his content.
As we previously told you, Sharpe is currently being sued for $50 million in a shocking sexual assault lawsuit lobbed against him by an OnlyFans model who claimed he physically abused her and even threatened to kill her. The Jane Doe, who Sharpe's lawyers later revealed was Gabriella Zuniga, was reportedly 19-years-old at the time that they initially started dealing with each other. Sharpe is 56.
Sharpe, through his legal team, has denied any wrongdoing and alleged the two were engaged in a consensual relationship, citing some highly explicit text messages as their proof.
Now, speaking in the latest episode of his 'Night Cap' podcast on Sunday with co-host and fellow former NFL star Chad Ochocinco, the popular host was sharing his two cents about the Shedeur Sanders NFL draft situation, but took a moment to turn things personal.
Thanking people for reaching out and offering words of support, Sharpe was resolute, shrugging off criticism and negativity and explained that some people in the world want to see others go through issues and negative experiences.
'I just need the people that I love to love me. And obviously, the elephant is not in the room, he outside. But everybody knows what I'm going through. A lot of people have a lot to say,' Sharpe began. 'But, I met a lot of people and thank y'all to everybody that's reached out and [sending] thoughts and prayers—I sincerely appreciate that. But when you think about it Ocho, man: 50 percent of people don't care that you got problems. The other 50 percent glad you got'em. So now what?'
He went on to stress the importance of drowning out the noise and asserted that people only have so much to say when they think they know you.
'Everybody gonna have an opinion. Everybody think they know you...when they really don't. They heard this, they heard that. Have you ever talked to Shannon?...So what makes you think you know him? How well do you know him?' he said.
In the aftermath of the lawsuit, Sharpe decided to step away from his role as a sports analyst for ESPN. There's been no word on when he'll return. Watch his full response below.

Shannon Sharpe Settles Rape Lawsuit As Accuser Acknowledges 'Consensual & Tumultuous Relationship'

After he was accused of rape in April, Shannon Sharpe has reportedly settled the Jane Doe's civil lawsuit on undisclosed terms. The accuser's attorney Tony Buzbee announced Friday that the lawsuit will be dismissed now that they have 'reached a mutually agreed upon resolution' with the 3x Super Bowl champion and sportscaster. 'Both sides acknowledge a long-term consensual and tumultuous relationship. After protracted and respectful negotiations, I'm pleased to announce that we have reached a mutually agreed upon resolution. All matters have now been addressed satisfactorily, and the matter is closed. The lawsuit will thus be dismissed with prejudice.' Following the April lawsuit, Sharpe denied the allegations and asserted that incidents of rape, choking and more in the 13-page civil suit are being taken out of context and were consensual. His attorney called the complaint a 'blatant and cynical attempt to shake down Mr. Sharpe for millions of dollars. Attorneys for both sides confirmed that Sharpe had previously offered $10 million in attempt to convince the accuser not to file the lawsuit. Sharpe was subsequently suspended from his Monday and Tuesday slot on Stephen A. Smith's ESPN talk show First Take. Denise Richards' shocking monthly expenses — including $25K on food and $20K on clothing — revealed in Aaron Phypers divorce petition

Denise Richards sure knows how to make a dollar — and spend a dollar — according to her newly estranged husband, Aaron Phypers. As part of his divorce petition, which he filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday, Phypers, 49, claimed Richards, 54, earns more than $250,000 per month via her OnlyFans account, TV appearances and brand deals. By contrast, the self-employed businessman — who 'had to close down' his wellness company, Quantum 360 Club, in 2024 — revealed he has 'not made income since.' Phypers went on to break down the former couple's monthly expenses as a family of three, as Richards' adopted daughter, 14-year-old Eloise, lives with them. Phypers claimed he and the 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' alum spend a total of $105,000 per month, with $25,000 of that going to food, and $20,000 going to clothes. According to Phypers, his and Richards' rent costs $18,000, which doesn't include the $8,000 they spend on utilities, the $5,000 they spend on maintenance and repairs and the additional $5,000 they spend on laundry and cleaning. Their phone bill costs $500, while expenses associated with their cars and transportation total $1,500, per Phypers. He also claimed he and the 'Denise Richards & Her Wild Things' star drop $10,000 on groceries and household supplies, $15,000 on eating out and an additional $15,000 on entertainment, gifts and vacations. As for child care, Richards allegedly forks over $7,000. It's worth noting that Phypers — who requested spousal support — listed $0 spent on insurance, savings and investments, and charitable donations. He also requested that he and Richards divide their Smoke & Mirrors Entertainment company 50/50. Phypers cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split and listed the date of separation as July 4. Reps for Richards did not immediately respond to Page Six's request for comment. The two said 'I do' in September 2018. The model was previously married to Charlie Sheen, with whom she shares daughters Sami Sheen, 21, and Lola Sheen, 20, while Phypers was previously married to Nicollette Sheridan.
