Texas Fugitive Wanted For Capital Murder Captured After Month-Long Manhunt
McEuen, who skipped a May 5 court appearance for the 2023 killing of Aaron Martinez, 35, in Forney, was taken into custody without incident following an hours-long SWAT standoff at his grandparent's home, where he was allegedly hiding under the house.
'His grandmother is in her 90s. From what I'm hearing, he was hiding under the house and was hiding from her as well,' said McEuen's attorney, Abigail Spain, per CBS 11. 'So, I am hopeful that they would not be facing any charges for this. I don't believe that they were aiding and abetting.'
The Kaufman County Sheriff's Office posted a photo on social media showing McEuen, barefoot and mud-covered, in a police vehicle. Authorities located him through weeks of investigative work and surveillance, with assistance from the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
'This arrest is the result of relentless and coordinated efforts by law enforcement personnel who worked around the clock to ensure that this dangerous individual was brought back into custody,' Sheriff Bryan Beavers said. 'The safety of our community was at stake, and we are proud of the partnership and professionalism displayed by every agency involved.'
McEuen faces charges including capital murder by terror threat, five counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, arson, bail jumping, and failure to appear. He is held in Kaufman County Jail, with no bond amount listed as of Monday afternoon. Authorities are investigating whether anyone knowingly aided McEuen while he was a fugitive.
Martinez's family told CBS News Texas that McEuen had previously threatened Martinez, fired at his property, and made racially charged remarks, though Martinez did not pursue charges at the time.
McEuen allegedly shot Martinez multiple times on May 1, 2023, and admitted to the murder after a SWAT standoff. Initially arrested that month, McEuen was released on a $1 million bond in September 2024 but violated conditions by posting photos of Martinez and his relatives on Instagram. Released again on a $2 million bond in December, he cut off his ankle monitor at 5:33 a.m. on May 5, 2025, and allegedly set a house on fire before fleeing.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott had offered a $30,000 reward for information leading to McEuen's arrest, but the Texas DPS said the reward would not be paid. A news conference on the arrest is expected, though details about the standoff's duration remain undisclosed.

Hakeem Jeffries recruiting new digital aide after Photoshop fail warped area around his hips
Hakeem Jeffries needs someone who can shoot the hip. The House Minority Leader is hiring a new digital manager to help the Brooklyn lawmaker step up his Photoshop game after an editing snafu on Instagram earlier this month set the internet ablaze. Jeffries' office put out a posting Tuesday for a 'dynamic and highly skilled' digital manager who has expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects and more. 'The Digital Manager will be primarily responsible for transforming the Leader's on-camera content into compelling, high-impact video, audio and visual content for online platforms,' the posting said, noting that the ideal candidate 'understands the digital media landscape.' Jeffries' team also stressed that the new digital manager needs to have 'excellent judgment.' 3 The House Minority Leader went viral earlier this month after posting a photo to his Instagram that appeared to be terribly edited. @repjeffries/Instagram 3 Democrats have been scrambling to ramp up their digital media savviness. Getty Images Two weeks ago, the judgment of Jeffries' digital handlers was called into question after a post on his Instagram account showed a distorted photo of the congressman. The 54-year-old looked fly at first glance as he donned a pair of sunglasses — but the bench on which he casually rested was glaringly warped. Internet sleuths quickly uncovered other images on Jeffries' social media accounts of him posing in settings where the backgrounds looked suspiciously distorted. Even progressives like journalist Ken Klippenstein joined the pile-on. 'Hakeem Jeffries is such a charisma black hole that it's warping the fabric of spacetime,' Klippenstein wrote on X July 7. GOP operatives also hammered Jeffries for the faux pas. 'Hakeem Jeffries slimming himself in Photoshop is the most transparency we've seen from Democrats in years,' Republican communicator Erin Maguire chided at the time. The Post contacted a Jeffries spokesperson for clarification about whether the digital manager job posting was related to this month's mockery. 'Guess it takes a full-time editor to keep up with a full-time embarrassment,' National Republican Congressional Committee spokesperson Mike Marinella needled about the recruitment effort. 3 Netizens also pointed to other instances in which Hakeem Jeffries appeared to have Photoshopped images on his social media. X/juliegraceb The digital manager is also required to study engagement metrics across social media platforms, clip videos for Jeffries and engage with his allies on the internet, according to the job description. Candidates are expected to have at least three years of experience.

Man Arrested on Accusation of Making Explosive Devices and Placing Them Around New York City - Including on a Subway Track
A Long Island man was arrested last month and charged in connection with attempting to blow up several homemade explosives around Manhattan, federal prosecutors announced this week. Authorities said Michael Gann was taken into custody after he had allegedly already placed one of the explosives on a subway track on the Williamsburg Bridge on June 5, 2025. According to the Justice Department, the 55-year-old man had placed the explosive on the tracks before placing five more explosive devices and a handful of shotgun shells on the rooftop of a residential building in the SoHo neighborhood. It's unclear how law enforcement became aware of Gann's alleged activity on June 5. A federal indictment included in the news release showed at least one security camera image of Gann holding a bag and appearing to walk on the rooftop where authorities allege he placed five of the explosives. About a month earlier, in May, the Justice Department alleges that Gann ordered about two pounds of potassium perchlorate and another pound of aluminum powder, along with more than 200 cardboard tubes and 50 feet worth of fuses. Using these items, Gann allegedly created at least seven explosive devices. The Justice Department alleges that in one of the devices Gann created, there was 'approximately 30 grams of explosive powder — approximately 600 times the legal limit for consumer fireworks.' When Gann was arrested, officers found a seventh explosive device on his person. He allegedly then falsely told police officers he had thrown the rest of the explosive devices away in a dumpster elsewhere in Manhattan. The suspect's internet history over the two months leading up to his arrest included at least a dozen searches about procuring a gun or the ingredients to make explosive devices, according to federal authorities. Authorities also allege that on the morning before he tossed the first explosive on the New York City subway track, Gann took to Instagram and cryptically wrote: 'Who wants me to go out to play like no tomorrow?' Gann has been charged with one count of attempted destruction of property with an explosive, which carries a mandatory minimum of five years in prison and a maximum of 20. He was also charged with transporting explosive materials, which carries a maximum of 10 years in prison, as well as a charge for unlawful possession of destructive devices, which also carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. 'The safety of New Yorkers is paramount,' U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton said in a statement, crediting 'swift work' by law enforcement to stop Gann before he could cause any damage. PEOPLE reached out to an attorney who is representing Gann but did not immediately receive a response on Wednesday. Read the original article on People

Robert Wagner Becoming a Recluse as New Details Surrounding Natalie Wood's Drowning Come to Light
Robert Wagner has turned into a recluse as more damning details about his involvement in his late wife Natalie Wood's mysterious drowning in 1981 come to light, sources say. 'There's new scrutiny on the case that could have dire consequences for him,' says an insider. But sources tell the National Enquirer that the 95-year-old Hart to Hart heartthrob is too tortured and consumed by guilt to face the truth. Robert — R.J. to his friends — has always actively interacted with fans on social media, but has been keeping a low profile in recent months. On July 4, instead of the usual friendly video chat, he just posted an old photo of himself on Instagram. An insider says the recently uncovered evidence has 'shattered him in body and spirit' and left him feeling isolated. As readers know, the West Side Story star drowned after spending a weekend on the yacht Splendour with her husband and Brainstorm costar Christopher Walken. Homicide detectives now have reason to believe that R.J. was cheating on Natalie before her death — with future wife Jill St. John. Jill, 85, maintains she didn't start dating R.J. until three months after his wife's death. The two have been married since 1990. 'I think Jill stepped into the program prior to Natalie's death,' Splendour's skipper, Dennis Davern, previously told the National Enqurier. He claimed he was kept inside R.J.'s mansion after the tragedy to keep him silenced — and that Jill was also there. 'She was at Wagner's house instantly, but I couldn't see what was going on because I was trapped in that room,' he said, adding that he could only leave when accompanied by the actor's 'thugs.' 'I think there was something else going on beside just feeling sorry for him,' Davern said of the Diamonds Are Forever star. According to the insider, 'Natalie's death is still an open, unsolved case. R.J. may have been ruled out as a person of interest, but this new revelation that detectives believe he was cheating on Natalie is damning.' 'He's been warned that the L.A. Sheriff's Department will investigate any piece of new information. And now he's scared and doesn't want to show his face.' 'The memories won't leave him alone, but he'd rather crawl into the woodwork than confront the past. He knows he doesn't have a huge amount of time left, and he's worried something will come out to damn him forever!'
