Three Cape Town eateries make World's Best Restaurant 2025 list
No other South African restaurants in other provinces featured.
La Colombe (55th), FYN (82nd) and Salsify (88th) all made the list.
For La Colombe, it was a sixth appearance, while FYN appeared on the coveted list for a fifth time.
Salsify made its debut this year.
Each year, the World's 50 Best Restaurants list highlights 50 exceptional dining establishments, accompanied by an extended list ranking restaurants from 51 to 100.
The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2025 ceremony will be held in Turin in Italy on Thursday, 19 June.

Tucked away in the Silvermist organic wine estate at the top of Constantia Nek, with stunning views over the Constantia Valley towards the sea, South African fine-dining institution La Colombe is the flagship restaurant of Scot Kirton's La Colombe Group, comprising a slew of the country's top restaurants. Consistently winning local and international awards, chef James Gaag and his team create elegant dishes grounded in French technique and accented with Asian flourishes.

Pronounced 'fayn', FYN tells African stories with a Japanese accent on the fifth floor of a 19th-century silk factory in Cape Town. Using fish, poultry and meat from the best local suppliers, chefs Ashley Moss and Peter Tempelhoff serve a tasting menu with dishes such as the signature hazelnut-crusted springbok with salt-baked celeriac, black figs and mountain sage. General manager Jennifer Hugé runs the dining room, underneath which the team also oversees a casual ramen bar called Ramenhead.

As far as settings go, you'd have to go some to top this Camps Bay spot. Tickled by the Atlantic and with Lion's Head for its backdrop, you'll find this cosy, contemporary restaurant within an old 1700s guardhouse – now one of Cape Town's finest dining destinations. A romantic setting with retro edge, it plays host to an exemplary six to 10-course menu devised by chefs Ryan Cole and Luke Dale-Roberts, driven by a mantra of simplicity and local and foraged produce from land and sea.

In the comment section, McGowan replied to several online users who asked her multiple questions about what people are saying and how she got the role. One user asked her if she saw the comments on the official TikTok account of the soapie in which the actress replied: 'Yes chomi, I did, but I'm not bothered.' Another user commented that they wish her all the best and that she should not listen to the internet trolls. McGowan replied: 'Thank you so much. I really do appreciate it. I promise I could never fold, I'm way too strong for the trolls.' This is not the first time that 'Generations: The Legacy' faced backlash for its actors, with fans claiming that some of them cannot act.

On Sunday, the hitmaker's real names (Jazzworx), Kamohelo Monese, and Gobokweone Lekganyane (G.L. Ceejay) were involved in a traumatic ordeal following a home invasion where they were robbed and kidnapped. 'We are grateful to inform you that we were safely found and rescued early morning yesterday. We are currently receiving medical attention and support as we begin the process of healing physically, emotionally and psychologically. 'This experience has been profoundly shocking, but it has also reinforced our faith in the kindness and resilience of our community.' Jazzworx and GL Ceejay are known for their hits such as 'Bengicela', 'Uzizwa Kanjan' and 'Tholukuthi'. They have requested privacy and understanding as they focus on their recovery and rebuilding their strength. In their statement, they went on to thank all those involved in their rescue and law enforcement authorities for their swift action and diligent efforts. 'We are committed to cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation. We managed to get a picture of one of the perpetrators we will circulate it.' Their collaborator, Thukuthela, posted on social media about the ordeal, sounding the alarm and revealing that the perpetrators wanted the studio computers. Fans and industry colleagues have showered the musicians with support and kind words, encouraging them to keep on with their music. A GoFundMe page has also been started by New York artist &Friends to help the rising stars rebuild their studio. Tyla's chart-topping hits 'Jump' and 'Push 2 Start' earn Gold certification in the US

The South African songstress has once again made waves in the American music scene. Her chart-topping hits 'Jump' (with Gunna and Skillibeng) and 'Push 2 Start' have officially achieved the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Gold certification in the US. According to RIAA, the two singles from Tyla's self-titled debut album were certified gold on July 29, 2025, after surpassing 500 000 units in sales and streaming equivalents in the US. The new certifications mark the 23-year-old singer's third song to reach Gold status in the US. Her breakout hit 'Water' is currently 3x Platinum in the country, while 'Truth or Dare' is gold. It also became the very first Gold certification for Jamaican DJ and rapper Skillibeng. He was featured on the song and added his dancehall flair to the hit. 'Push 2 Start' first appeared as an additional song on the deluxe version of Tyla's self-titled album 'Tyla +'. It has been a standout hit, soaring up the charts and becoming a fan favourite. The song's popularity also skyrocketed after the release of its music video, which currently has 102 million views, and with the release of a remix featuring dancehall legend Sean Paul. It achieved platinum status in Brazil and New Zealand. It was also certified gold in Canada and Greece then silver in the United Kingdom. The collaboration brought together Tyla's signature sound with Sean Paul's nostalgic vibe, which is perfectly in line with Tyla's aesthetic. It further cemented 'Push 2 Start' as a chart-topper. 'Jump', another significant success for Tyla, reached No 3 on the Billboard Afrobeats Songs chart and No 42 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Furthermore, it spent several weeks in the top 40 of the UK Singles Chart, peaking at No. 38. Earlier this year, both songs were featured on Spotify's Global Impact List, where Tyla was leading the pack with 12 songs on the South African edition. The list showcased the top artists making waves outside of Mzansi, solidifying the global reach of local artists and their music. The talented singer-songwriter dominated the list with an impressive 12 songs in the top 25. From collaborations to solo work, her unique 'popiano' sound struck a chord with listeners around the world. Most of her songs from her debut self-titled album made it to the list, and 'Jump', along with 'Push 2 Start', were among the songs mentioned. The RIAA awards a Gold record for sales of 500 000 units (records, tapes, and compact discs). Platinum status is granted for sales exceeding one million units, while Diamond status is reserved for 10 million or more albums or singles sold.
