Wayne Rooney leaves fans in stitches as he fails to find Liverpool and Manchester on a map in 'fascinating' test of his geography skills
Fans have taken social media to mock Wayne Rooney after he failed a geography puzzle miserably.
The Manchester United legend, who was sacked as Plymouth boss in December, was the latest guest on the Overlap Fan Debate.
In one of the segments, he was tasked with pointing out the location of a number Premier League stadiums on a map.
Rooney had a slip-up gaffe early on, wrongly placing Aston Villa in Hereford - around 90 minutes away from Villa Park.
Jamie Carragher quickly corrected him, saying, 'that's not there', prompting a baffled Rooney to fire back, 'well, where is it then?' as the audience burst into laughter.
Despite being a born-and-bred Scouser and kicking off his career at Everton, Wayne Rooney stunned the studio by placing Manchester City 's badge right in the heart of Liverpool.
Rooney's most cringeworthy moment came when he bizarrely placed Everton - his boyhood club - over in Manchester, just east of the Etihad Stadium.
A stunned Jamie Carragher burst into laughter, blurting out, 'are you serious?' as the blunder left the studio in stitches.
Carragher placed Everton correctly in Liverpool and said, 'It's there, isn't it?' Rooney, clearly frustrated, fires back, 'It's f***** the same place.'*
Fans took to X to mock Rooney, with one posting: 'How can he have spent the first 18 years of his life in Liverpool and not realised you can see the sea'.
Another said: 'Wayne… Everton's new ground not far from the old ground you've spent a chunk of your life is right by the water mate. Fascinating human being'.
A third added: 'Putting Everton nowhere near water is absolutely phenomenal.'

Paul Ince arrested and charged with drink driving after car crash
Paul Ince, the former England captain, has been charged with drink driving after a collision involving a Range Rover on Saturday. The former Manchester United, Liverpool and Inter Milan midfielder was held by police after the vehicle hit a central reservation in Neston, Cheshire. Officers have since confirmed he will appear in court next month to face a charge of drink driving. Cheshire Police said it was called to reports of a collision at 5pm on Saturday. 'The incident involved a black Range Rover which had collided with the central reservation barrier,' the force said in a statement. 'Officers attended the scene and arrested a 57-year-old man. Paul Ince, of Neston, has since been charged with drink driving. Ince has been bailed to appear at Chester Magistrates' Court on Friday 18 July.' As reported by The Daily Mail, the incident took place close to Heswall Golf Club where Ince has previously posted content on Instagram. Ince was England's first black men's captain and won 53 caps for his country, starring at Euro 96 and the World Cup in France in 1998.. Having won a European Cup Winners' Cup, two Premier Leagues, two FA Cups and a League Cup while playing, he has since embarked on a career in management. His most recent head coaching role was at Reading, where he left in 2023. He had previously been at Macclesfield, MK Dons, Blackburn Rovers, Notts County and Blackpool.
