'90s rock band cancels Bay Area show after singer's cancer diagnosis
The rock band 3 Doors Down has canceled all its performances, including its only Bay Area appearance, due to frontman Brad Arnold's battle with kidney cancer.
The singer of the '90s outfit — known for hits like 'Kryptonite,' 'Here Without You' and 'When I'm Gone' — revealed his diagnosis in an Instagram video shared Wednesday, May 7, explaining that he went to the hospital when he was sick recently and 'got the diagnosis that I had a clear cell renal cell carcinoma that had metastasized into my lung.'
'And it's Stage 4, and that's not real good,' he continued. 'We serve a mighty God, and he can overcome anything. So I have no fear. I really sincerely am not scared of it at all.'
He confirmed that 3 Doors Down scrapped its plans to support fellow '90s rockers Creed on the band's summer tour due to the diagnosis.
The band was meant to stop at Mountain View's Shoreline Amphitheatre on Aug. 9. Creed is still set to proceed with its headlining tour.
Creed singer Scott Stapp was one of many, peers and fans alike, that showed Arnold support in the comment section of his Instagram post.
'If anyone has the FAITH and STRENGTH to face this fight, it's YOU, brother. You and your family are in my prayers daily,' Stapp wrote. 'I think I can speak for all of us, we are lifting you up in prayer right now believing without doubt for your total healing! I love you bro.'
Daughtry frontman Chris Daughtry also shared words of encouragement, stating, 'Sending you love my brother.'
Clear cell renal cell carcinoma is the most common type of kidney cancer, according to the National Cancer Institute, and can be treated with surgery, immunotherapy and other targeted therapies, depending on how advanced it is.
'Now, I believe 'ITS NOT MY TIME' is really my song,' Arnold wrote in the caption of his post, referencing 3 Doors Down's 2008 hit.

On the same day as the reunion taping, Thursday, June 5, Eady, 37, addressed her decision not to attend the reunion on her Instagram Stories, alleging that the photos Moore shared a year ago weren't of her to begin with. 'I do not know who was in that photo, but upon seeing it for the first time recently, I now know it was not me,' Eady continued in her statement. 'I look forward to seeking accountability and moving past this dark part of my life." During the reunion trailer, Williams, 44, seemingly acknowledges the incident and says, 'Kenya had gotten information from a current housewife about Brit's past.' Cohen, 57, then turns his attention to Ferrell and asks, 'Did you send her the pictures?' His question left Ferrell shocked and speechless. Beyoncé's flying car prop tilts mid-air in scary malfunction during ‘Cowboy Carter' tour
Beyoncé experienced a frightening moment during her Cowboy Carter tour stop in Houston, Texas, over the weekend. While performing '16 Carriages' Saturday night in a car prop suspended above the audience, the vehicle suddenly stopped and tilted mid-air, prompting the singer to momentarily pause her performance. 'Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop,' Beyoncé can be heard saying in a video obtained by ABC News, just before the music was cut. 'Thank you for your patience,' she added. Savannah James is urging LeBron to retire. The Lakers superstar exercised his $52.6 million option for 2025-26, bypassing free agency to return to Los Angeles for his 23rd NBA season.
