Watch: MS Dhoni celebrates his 44th birthday with friends, cake and warm wishes
Now 44, Dhoni may have stepped away from international cricket in 2020, but his presence still looms large over the sport. His most recent outing came in the IPL 2025 season for CSK. While Chennai didn't have their best campaign, Dhoni's quiet resolve and enduring leadership remained a rallying point for the team - and a source of hope for millions of fans.Naturally, questions swirl about whether he'll return next year. Speaking after the season, Dhoni said he would give himself "five to six months" to decide - a typically measured response from a man who has always played the game on his own terms. His legacy, though, needs no deliberation. In a career spanning 538 international matches, Dhoni scored 17,266 runs and recorded 829 dismissals - numbers that speak volumes, yet still fall short of capturing his full impact. In ODIs, he scored 10,773 runs at an average of 50.57, including 10 centuries and 73 fifties. That iconic unbeaten 183 against Sri Lanka is still etched in every cricket fan's memory. Even more impressively, he achieved the milestone of 10,000 runs while largely batting in the lower middle order - a role he made his own with unmatched composure.advertisementNo Indian captain has lifted more ICC trophies than Dhoni - the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy. In Tests, he led India in 60 matches, winning 27, and played 90 games overall, scoring nearly 5,000 runs, including a majestic 224.He's also the only Indian captain to have whitewashed Australia in a Border-Gavaskar Trophy series - not once, but twice.Yet for all his stats and accolades, it is Dhoni's calm under pressure, humility in victory, and dignity in retirement that make him truly special. On his 44th birthday, fans across the country - from stadiums to social feeds - came together not just to wish him, but to celebrate a cricketer who gave them moments they'll never forget.- EndsMust Watch

"We were overjoyed when he took 10 wickets..did not remember my problem": Akash Deep's sister, who is battling cancer
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 8 (ANI): Akash Deep's sensational 10-wicket haul in India's historic win over England at Edgbaston wasn't just a sporting triumph; it was a deeply personal one. As the young pacer tore through the English batting lineup, his sister, Akhand Jyoti Singh, who has been battling cancer for the past two months, felt immense joy and pride. 'Akash dedicated his victory to me, and I feel very proud of him... We were overjoyed when he took 10 wickets. We were all clapping here. I did not remember my sadness at all when he took wickets,' she told ANI. Akash revealed earlier after the match that he had kept his sister's illness private and was playing with one mission in mind, to make her happy. 'The biggest thing is that I have not told anyone yet. My elder sister has been suffering from cancer for the last two months. She is stable now. She is fine. She will be the happiest. She has been going through this mentally for the last two months,' Akash said in a heartfelt conversation with Cheteshwar Pujara. 'I was playing this match for her. I have to make her happy with this match,' he added. Akash's mother, Laddooma Devi, expressed immense pride in her son's performance, calling it the realisation of a long-cherished dream. 'I feel very proud... I am very happy... It was my dream that he should play for the Indian team... Maybe Akash takes 10-10 wickets like this. he should play like this for India in future,' she said. Coming to the match, England once again opted to field first. After getting KL Rahul (2) early, a 80-run stand between Yashasvi Jaiswal (87 in 107 balls, with 13 fours) and Karun Nair (31 in 50 balls, with five fours) helped India gain some footing in the match. Skipper Shubman Gill had valuable partnerships of 203 runs with Ravindra Jadeja (89 in 137 balls, with 10 fours and a six) and a 144-run stand against Washington Sundar (42 in 103 balls, with three fours and a six), helping India towards 587, scoring 269 in 387 balls himself, with 30 fours and three Bashir (3/167) was the pick of the bowlers for England, while Chris Woakes and Josh Tongue also managed two each. In England's first innings, India had them on the ropes with 84/5. However, a 303-run stand between Harry Brook (158 in 234 balls, with 17 fours and a six) and wicketkeeper-batter Jamie Smith (184* in 207 balls, with 21 fours and four sixes) sent India on an endless hunt for leather and answers. However, Siraj (6/70) and Akash Deep (4/88) got something out of the new ball and tumbled down the last five wickets for 20 runs, bundling them down for 407 runs, gaining a 180-run lead. India's response was a swift half-century partnership between Jaiswal (28 in 22 balls, with six fours) and KL Rahul, who also continued his good run with a 10-boundary-filled 55 in 84 balls. A 110-run stand for the fourth wicket between Rishabh Pant (65 in 58 balls, with eight fours and three sixes) and Gill upped the attack, while Gill managed yet another epic 175-run stand with Jadeja, scoring 161 in 162 balls, with 13 fours and eight sixes. Jadeja scored an unbeaten 69* in 118 balls, with five fours and a six. India declared at 427/6, leading by 607 runs and setting England a monstrous 608 runs to win. During the run-chase, England was restricted to 50/3. Jamie Smith (88 in 99, with nine fours and four sixes) was the only glimmer of hope for England as they were skittled out for just 271 runs, losing by 336 runs, thanks to a brilliant spell from Akash Deep (6/99), who ended up taking a ten-fer. With this, the collections of F1 -The Movie stand at around Rs 51.90 crore net, a number that no one would have even imagined. The film is on course for a Rs 70 crore plus net lifetime total. It can do more and these are just conservative estimates. The India Net Collections Of F1 Are As Under F1 Collects Rs 2.40 Crore Net On 2nd Monday; To Lose IMAX Screens To Superman The Coming Friday F1 loses IMAX screens to Superman this Friday. Superman will keep the IMAX screens to itself for a good couple of weeks. That's the reason the lifetime India net estimates are at a conservative Rs 70 crore. If not for the stacked IMAX scheduling, F1 could keep getting audiences for weeks. Now, the week 3 and week 4 performance of F1 in India will be interesting to observe, when all it has is standard screens and other premium screens apart from IMAX to generate business from. Even in the standard screens, it will have to compete with a bunch of different holdover as well as new releases. F1's Word Of Mouth Is Incredibly Strong, As Suggested By The Minimal Drop In Collections Every Day Coming back to F1's 2nd Monday collections, even if the movie collected Rs 2.40 crore on its opening day, it would be considered as a good result. For it to do this on day 11, speaks volumes of the strong word of mouth that it is enjoying. It is far from exhausting its audience, yet. Brad Pitt, after a turbulent recent run at the movies, is back with a bang. F1 Is Projected To End Its Run In The USD 500 Million Vicinity F1 is projected to gross USD 500 million worldwide in its lifetime. It crossed USD 300 million globally on 2nd Monday and there's no fatigue to be seen. The competition with Jurassic World: Rebirth resulted in division of screens and interest, but the occupancies are still at an astoundingly high level. F1 In Theatres F1 plays in theatres now. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more box office updates on F1.

Rashmika Mandanna Says She's Open To Long Shoot Hours Amid Deepika Padukone's Spirit Row: 'Personal Choice'
Last Updated: Rashmika Mandanna reacts to ongoing debate on working hours amid Deepika Padukone's exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit. The conversation around long working hours in the Indian film industry continues to grow louder—and actor Rashmika Mandanna is the latest star to weigh in. Her comments come amid a wave of reactions following reports of Deepika Padukone's alleged fallout with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga over fixed work schedules on the now-shelved Spirit. Addressing the controversy, Mandanna spoke about the importance of clear communication before signing on to a film, during an interview with Mojo Story. 'Today the whole country is debating about flexible hours, but that is for discussion amongst the teams and figuring out what works for them. It's their personal choices," she said, stressing that mutual understanding within the team is key. The Animal actor also reflected on her cross-industry experience, pointing out how shooting schedules differ across regions. 'I do work in multiple industries, like the South – Telugu, Kannada, or Tamil, where we work 9 am to 6 pm. In Hindi, it's a 9 am to 9 pm shift. I am open to both because this is what my film requires," she shared. But she didn't shy away from addressing the more extreme side of filming schedules. 'Some films you can start 9 am to 9 pm, but they carry on till the next day, so you're working like 36 hours. There are much worse scenarios happening where you are working 2-3 days without going home," Mandanna revealed. Deepika Padukone-Sandeep Reddy Vanga Spirit Controversy The issue was recently brought to the forefront after reports surfaced that Deepika Padukone opted out of Spirit due to disagreements over her request for fixed hours. Deepika, a new mother, is reportedly seeking to balance her work and personal life by reducing her working hours. This decision led to her exit from the film, which would have been her second collaboration with Prabhas after their recent project, Kalki 2898 AD. The situation sparked industry-wide discussions about actor welfare and reasonable work conditions. Following Deepika's exit, Triptii Dimri was confirmed to play a part in the film. Mandanna, who worked with Vanga on the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal, acknowledged the broader need for realistic expectations, especially in high-pressure shoots. Rashmika Mandanna was most recently seen in Kuberaa, which released on June 20. First Published:
