Iran's capital, surrounding province will shut for day due to heat wave
ADVERTISEMENT With temperatures in the capital exceeding 40 deg C, the government has advised citizens to stay indoors during peak heat hours.
IRAN daily on Monday quoted government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani urging residents to take measures to reduce electricity and water consumption. The report said that all governmental offices, banks and businesses in Tehran province will be closed on Wednesday.
In July 2024, Iran ordered one-day national holiday due to high temperatures, following a two-day holiday in 2023.
Borazjan in southern Bushehr province was the hottest city in the last 24 hours with a maximum temperature of 50 C.

Hot, humid conditions to continue as mercury expected to rise further
1 2 Patna: Most districts, including Patna, witnessed a hot and humid day on Monday, with the mercury expected to rise further in the coming days. According to a bulletin issued by India Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperature is expected to rise by three to five degrees Celsius over the next 48 hours in most parts of the state, and remain unchanged thereafter. Meanwhile, no major change is likely to occur in the minimum temperature for the next three to four days. The IMD has also predicted isolated rainfall at one or two places in a few districts on Tuesday, whereas the north-western and south-western parts of the state are likely to remain dry. After this a spell of considerable rainfall is anticipated from Thursday, with north-eastern and south-eastern districts likely to receive moderate showers, according to the forecast. The weather department issued an alert for thunderstorm, along with lightning activity, for 27 districts, including Patna, Jehanabad, Gaya, Nalanda, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Begusarai, Khagaria, Bhagalpur and Munger, on Tuesday. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 34-36 degrees Celsius across the state on Tuesday and rise thereafter. The minimum temperature is expected to remain in the range of 28-30 degrees Celsius in most of the districts, and 26-28 degrees Celsius in south-western and north-eastern parts of the state. Rains lash Chandigarh, several parts of Punjab
Agency: PTI Chandigarh, Jul 21 (PTI) Rains lashed several parts of Punjab, including Chandigarh, leading to a dip in maximum temperatures on Monday. According to the Met Department here, Chandigarh received 10.3 mm of rain. The maximum temperature settled at 27.7 degrees Celsius. Ludhiana, Patiala, Pathankot, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur and Mohali were among other places to receive rainfall. Amritsar recorded a maximum temperature of 30.8 degrees Celsius, Ludhiana 32.6, Patiala 30.1, Pathankot 26.6, Gurdaspur 30.5 while Mohali recorded a high of 26.6 degrees Celsius. In Haryana, Ambala recorded a high of 28.8 degrees Celsius, Hisar 33, Karnal 29.2, Narnaul 34, Rohtak 31.9, Bhiwani 33.1, while Gurugram registered a high of 31.6 degrees Celsius. Delhi Weather: IMD Issues 'Yellow' Alert For Thunderstorms, Parts Of City Receive Rain
Delhi saw rain on Monday evening. A yellow alert warns of light to moderate rain and thunderstorms. The air quality was 'satisfactory' with an AQI of 93. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'yellow' alert warning for next few hours in Delhi due to thunderstorm and rain predictions. A few parts of the city witnessed light to moderate rainfall. According to the IMD, Ridge received the highest rainfall of 29.6 mm between 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm, while Pragati Maidan and Pusa recorded 1.7 mm and 1.0 mm, respectively, during the same period. Trace rainfall was observed at Lodi Road and Palam.
