'Holy sh**!' Cessnock man claims $30 million Powerball win
The man held the only division one winning entry in Powerball draw 1512 on Thursday, May 8. He pocketed the entire $30 million jackpot.
An official from The Lott reached out to the unsuspecting new multi-millionaire after the draw.
"Holy shit!" the man said.
"Bless you, man! Bless you!" he added before bursting into uncontrollable laughter.
"I just had this ticket on the fridge. I was looking at it this afternoon and thought, 'wouldn't it be lovely to win'.
"The ticket was there with all the bills. There will be no more worrying about bills now. I don't care if I get a bill now!
"I used to wonder what I'd do if I got a winning phone call, but now all I can do is shake!
"I don't think I'll get any sleep tonight now.
"I better take a breath or two."
The winner shared he'd been through a bit of a "rough trot" of late but saw the win as a sign of good things to come for him and his family.
"For a start, I'll look at buying a new house and looking after the family. Then, I'll take it from there," he said.
"I'm going to ring my kids right now and tell them the news!"
The man's winning 12-game QuickPick entry was purchased at Shell Aberdare Newsagency.

Post-concert buzz leads to massive excitement for WA couple who took home Saturday's division one lotto prize
They had just taken in the joy of a thrilling music concert — but the real music to their ears was still to come. 'After coming out of the concert I decided to check my Lotto ticket and couldn't believe what I saw,' one of them said. 'I was shaking and in tears when I realised we had won the Lotto and I've been in shock ever since.' The couple, aged in their 50s, had scooped $627,568 in Saturday Lotto. It was a life-changing moment that has left the couple excited about the future, with helping out family top of their list. Lotterywest spokesman James Mooney said no doubt the couple got little sleep after the excitement of the concert then the shock of finding out about their win. 'I can't imagine the excitement of coming out of a show and then discovering right after you're a Lotto winner,' he said. 'It's fantastic to see another WA couple celebrate a life-changing win and hopefully more to come ahead of Thursday's $100 million Powerball draw.' Saturday's winning numbers: 30, 26, 11, 22 36 and 13 Supps: 24, 45

What you need to know as Powerball jackpot soars to $100m
A staggering $100m jackpot will be up for grabs next week after no claims were made for the Powerball division one prize in Thursday night's draw. This is the first time the top prize has reached this amount since November 2024, and the 12th time Powerball has offered a $100m jackpot in the game's 29-year history. This year alone, eight Powerball division one winners have taken home more than $210.8m – three in Queensland, two each in NSW and Victoria, and one in Western Australia. Last year, a man from South Australia claimed a whopping $150m, the game's biggest individual lottery win in Australia. While there were no division one winners on Thursday night, six lucky Aussies took home $127,979 each in the division two prize pool. The winning numbers were 1, 30, 12, 34, 24, 9, 6 and the Powerball 10. Tickets for the upcoming Powerball are available for purchase until 6pm next Thursday in-store, online or via the Lotto mobile app.
