PN's headquarters closed since March, says insider
Claims have been circulating that Perikatan Nasional no longer maintains a functioning office in Solaris Dutamas, Kuala Lumpur. (Wikipedia pic) PETALING JAYA : Perikatan Nasional's headquarters in the upscale area of Solaris Dutamas, Kuala Lumpur, has reportedly been closed since March. According to a party source, the party had stopped paying rental for the office, where the coalition's Supreme Council had held its meetings since PN was formed in 2020. Asked about the matter, Bersatu's information chief, Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, said queries should be directed to the coalition's secretary-general, Azmin Ali. 'That matter is related to administrative issues. You may refer to Azmin for further information,' he told FMT. FMT has sought comment from Azmin and PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan. Tun Faisal denied another claim by the party source that no meetings of the PN top brass had been held since the party's leadership reshuffle last year due to 'internal tensions'. He said the PN Supreme Council had convened at least twice this year. 'There were leadership meetings before the Ayer Kuning by-election (in April) and also when Radzi Jidin was appointed as PN information chief,' he said. The source had claimed that PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin and Azmin were attempting to avoid calling for a Supreme Council meeting in the face of pressure from PAS to restructure the coalition's leadership. PAS is said to be pushing for the presidents of PN member parties to relinquish their executive roles, and for them to form an advisory council instead. Under this proposal, Hamzah Zainudin, the parliamentary opposition leader and Bersatu deputy president, would be made PN chairman while his number two would be one of the deputy presidents of the other parties. Last week, Utusan Malaysia quoted Hamzah as dismissing talk that he was moving to oust Muhyiddin as Bersatu president. He also described the rumours as 'nonsensical stories' spread by outsiders seeking to divide Bersatu and PN.

PAS leader dismisses talk of Abdul Hadi stepping down, say president's health ‘better than before'
MARANG, July 5 – Those close to PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang have denied claims he plans to step down from his post amid his health woes, saying such speculation has only come from outside the party. Utusan Malaysia cited Bachok MP Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman, who previously served as Abdul Hadi's political secretary, saying the rumours had surfaced ahead of the party's 71st Muktamar or annual congress in September but were unfounded. 'We haven't heard anything about it internally. It's just talk from outsiders,' he was quoted saying. 'Even the deputy president has addressed this. Those of us close to him, even his family, have heard nothing,' he added, referring to Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man. Tuan Ibrahim had recently said he feels Abdul Hadi should remain in the role, rather than being moved to be the spiritual leader. Mohd Syahir added that Abdul Hadi's health had significantly improved following a medical procedure at the National Heart Institute last week, and that his recovery has been swift. He said the doctors treating Abdul Hadi were also satisfied with his progress and that he is expected to attend more public events in person moving forward. 'Tok Guru's health is very good, even better than before. He's already resumed his lectures and attended meetings, so there's nothing preventing him from joining more physical events,' he said, referring to Abdul Hadi. Following the lecture, Abdul Hadi's aides requested that media personnel give the PAS president space and refrain from seeking comments from him. Abdul Hadi resumed delivering his weekly duha lecture on Friday, which he had paused for over a month due to treatment at IJN on June 17. He has conducted the session weekly for decades, with the last held on May 30 before his recent break. Despite still recovering, Abdul Hadi also attended funeral prayers on Monday for the late Hamzah Ngah, former PAS Kuala Terengganu deputy chief, at Masjid Rusila in Terengganu.

Malaysia, France reaffirm call for Gaza ceasefire and humanitarian aid
PARIS: Malaysia and France on Friday reaffirmed their stand for a ceasefire in Gaza and for humanitarian aid to get through. The call was made by French President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during a press conference at the Elysee Palace here. Macron said both he and Anwar agreed that a permanent ceasefire must take place in Gaza, adding that the release of hostages must also be implemented. The French President said a two-state solution is the best way to resolve the issue of Palestine-Israel. 'We are working with several parties, among them Saudi (Arabia), towards this. For now, Israel must allow for aid to reach Gaza,' he said. During the press conference held before their bilateral meeting, Anwar praised the President for his passion to try and resolve the conflict in Gaza. 'Of course, we have condemned the continued bombings and atrocities inflicted upon civilians, women and children. And it's a shame that the international community is not able to resolve this,' said Anwar. 'So your initiative was supported by us. No question about peace, and if it takes two sides to secure peace, I agree with you. That's why we have also committed to the two-state solution,' said the premier. Anwar also said Malaysia also condemns the Israeli aggression on Iran and will continue to support France's efforts to bring peace in the Middle East. 'I don't think we can deny the issue of the use of nuclear for peaceful means. Nuclear non-proliferation, proliferation, or even power, cannot be seen to be selective,' he said. 'If you say no to Iran, (and) you say yes to Israel, we have a problem; try and resolve that. But I agree with you, we must impress upon Iran to use this for peaceful methods and peaceful means and allow for inspection, which they have given a commitment,' he added. Macron also said Iran must unequivocally reaffirm its support for the Non-Proliferation Treaty and withdraw its law limiting cooperation with the IAEA. He said Iran must also agree to a deal that will necessarily lead to the end of uranium enrichment in Iran, while allowing the country to benefit from the peaceful uses of nuclear energy. 'This has been the focus of my discussions with the Iranian President, as well as with Russian President Vladimir Putin and, just yesterday, with American President Donald Trump. I will continue talks in the coming days with other members of the Security Council. 'We also want an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine. 'We condemn just as firmly the attacks on civilian populations. This war of aggression launched by Russia has consequences far beyond Europe — as we are now seeing with the deployment of North Korean soldiers on European soil,' he said.
