Girlfriend of Brit who died in Ibiza hotel fall 'disgusted' by 'lack of respect'
The grieving girlfriend of a Brit who fell to his death from an Ibiza hotel claims staff jet-washed away his blood little over an hour after his death as friends allege management wanted them gone so they could 'start the party again'.
Evan Thomson was on the island celebrating his 26th birthday with pals when he hit the ground after falling from his sixth-floor balcony. His devastated loved ones are now are demanding answers following concerns over safety at the raucous Ibiza Rocks Hotel, where he was staying earlier this month.
The man, from Aberdeen, Scotland, was pronounced dead at the scene after medics rushed to the hotel at 6am on July 7. Friends and family have blasted bosses over how the aftermath of Evan's death was handled, and have claimed the hotel resumed normal operations less than 90 minutes after his traumatic death. They are enraged by social media posts uploaded hours later pushing their next pool party.
They claimed they sat in an office 'without answers' for an hour after they were informed of Evan's death before they were allowed back to their rooms. The tragic Brit's pals say they were told to pack up their belongings before being transferred to another nearby hotel.
Angry friend Blair Robertson, 25, told the Press and Journal: "We heard the jet washes from the ground cleaning the area where Evan died and it had only been 90 minutes or so since he was found. That was the worst thing for us to hear – how fast they tried to get things back to normal.
"They took us out of the hotel at around 9am and put us in a new hotel down the road. It was like they wanted to get back to business as usual as soon as possible. It was just a very traumatic experience. They just wanted us out – and to start the party again. It was a disregard of life. It was hard hearing the cleaners coming into the room in the morning, as though nothing had happened."
Evan's girlfriend Remi Duncan, 23, also hit out at the staff and added: 'It was disgusting. There was minimal respect for the situation, considering the music went back on soon after Evan had died. It puts a pit in your stomach.' Another friend, James Shan, claimed that the hotel looked at Evan's death from a 'business perspective' and claimed they posted on so 'are you ready for the next event?' within hours his death. He called the upload "sickening".
MirrorOnline have contacted Ibiza Rocks Hotel for their response. In an earlier statement, a spokesperson said: 'This is a truly tragic and extremely sad situation. Our senior management team onsite did everything possible to help the police with their investigation into events leading up to Evan's death, and to provide constant support from our customer services manager to Evan's friends.
'That has included them having 24-hour access to our senior manager for any help or questions and giving them permission to pass on her mobile number to Evan's family should they wish to call us direct. They were very appreciative of all the help and support at such a difficult time. We are deeply saddened by Evan's death and our thoughts continue to be with his family and friends at this truly difficult time."
Evan's mother Lel Kellighan spoke of her agony of social media. "'I'm absolutely heartbroken to write and tell you all, earlier this week my son Evan was in a tragic accident whilst on holiday with his friends in Ibiza and sadly passed away. We are all absolutely broken. Please allow us some time."
His death came days after another British holidaymaker died in hospital on the island after plunging from a supermarket carpark. The 25-year-old, not yet named, fell from the Mercadona outlet in the resort of San Antonio. He was taken to the private Nuestra Senora del Rosario Polyclinic in Ibiza, but didn't survive.

This mystery could soon be solved after the lawyer for the dead Brit, Yiannis Konstantoudakis, claimed an email about an alleged confession into Steven's apparent murder was sent to Cheshire Police last year, according to The Sun. The ex-wife of a 38-year-old Brit reportedly claimed her former partner admitted to killing Steven in a rant while high on drugs after his body was found in 2017. The ex-wife alleged her partner said he had gotten into a fight with another young man in Malia in 2005 while drunk and the victim died after being hit on the head. She also claimed her ex said he threw the dead body into a well after the alleged brawl. The woman, who has not been named, claimed she had two silver beads from a bracelet allegedly belonging to Steven, from the night he died - the victim's family has not identified the bracelet. The woman claimed her ex had a breakdown after Steven's remains were discovered and even threatened to kill himself. The family's lawyer said he was wary of her claims due to the huge gap between 2017 and now, but added the bombshell information could still be credible. The 38-year-old British man has denied any involvement in Steven's death and told British police he was not in Crete at the same time as the victim, according to local newspaper Parapolitika. Konstantoudakis said he fears the case could be closed in September, despite this alleged major update, if there are no more developments. Cheshire Police told The Sun it "is aware of the developments in the investigation into the death of Steven Cook".

She added that it was not unusual for people under the influence of drugs or alcohol to make revelations about their lives they wouldn't have otherwise said. The 38-year-old Brit has denied any involvement in Steven's death, according to local newspaper Parapolitika. When appearing before British authorities, he reportedly claimed he wasn't in Crete in 2005. He described his ex-wife's allegations as "lies". In 2005 there were no systematic passport checks for citizens of the European Union while Great Britain belonged to it. There is a recorded entry of the accused Brit into Greece in 2010 from the airport in Zakynthos. Steven's family were informed of the developments through their lawyer. Mr Konstantoudakis told The Sun of fears that the case could be thrown out in September if there are no major developments. Cheshire Police told The Sun it "is aware of the developments in the investigation into the death of Steven Cook". They added: "At this time, we are working closely with the Greek Authorities and Stevens family who are being supported by specialist officers."

Their aunty Kayla Delbrocco from Birmingham said the kids had been swimming "every day' in the sea - and would have had no reason to believe they were in danger. She told The Sun: 'It was supposed to be a special day - the kids love the beach, they go every day. 'They've always been water babies - they'd been in every day. We had gone on holiday together there six years ago, so they were excited to go back and knew what to expect. 'It's beautiful out there. They were older, so they could remember, but their younger siblings hadn't experienced it before. So it was nice that the six of them were going.' Aunty Kayla said the family headed to the beach just before 8.30pm on Tuesday for their nightly swim, just half an hour after lifeguards clocked off. Ameiya and Ricardo Jr, known lovingly as Maya and Jubs, were in the water with dad Ricardo Sr, when the trio were swept up in the difficult waters, with the alarm raised just before 8.50pm. Kayla continued: 'They weren't even that far in - they've been going there the same time every day. It was just another day for them. 'It doesn't look like it's dangerous - They had like a yellow flag saying you're safe to go in, but just be careful. 'We've come to learn that the beach was dangerous; someone had died in the morning, the same day. A 54-year-old German man died the same day as the little ones. Heartbreaking tributes to Brit friends, 27 & 29, who both drowned in Algarve holiday pool in 'unimaginable' tragedy 'There was no word about it or anything - no warning. We've come to learn that there have been 16/17 deaths there in the past month.' Ricardo Sr desperately tried to save Maya and Jubs, but got into trouble himself in what was described as 'stormy' seas off the Spanish beach. Their mum, Shanice, had taken the other four children to the toilet before returning to the dramatic scenes. Aunty Kayla said: 'When it happened, my sister [Shanice] went to take the little ones to the bathroom. Then, when she came back, there was everyone everywhere.' Emergency services rushed to the aid of the trio, and managed to revive Ricardo Jr, and with Maya and Jubs, Kayla said medics 'tirelessly tried to revive them'. 'This is the first holiday where there were six [children] and they hadn't been on holiday for some time. 'They've been doing everything they can to make sure the [four] little ones are engaged. It's been a difficult time for them.' Kayla confirmed that repatriation teams had been in contact with the family and that 'paperwork was ready' - with parents Shanice and Ricardo insisting they won't leave Salou without Maya and Jubs. She added: 'They are staying there until they can bring the kids home - they won't leave without them.' A GoFundMe was made by family friend Holly Marquis-Johnson in honour of Maya and Jubs, to help ' ease some of the financial burden' of repatriation and to give the 'dignified farewell they deserve'. Leaving a heartbreaking tribute on the fundraiser, Holly wrote: 'Maya was intelligent, thoughtful, and growing into a strong young woman. Ricardo Junior was playful, kind, and always smiling. 'They brought so much love, laughter, and energy into the lives of everyone around them.' The GoFundMe, which had a target of £15,000, has raised over £39,000 at the time of writing, with an outpouring of support from donors. In a statement sent as a voice message to The Sun, Kayla expressed her gratitude to the public for the overwhelming support. She said: 'We want to give our thanks as family for all the kindness and overwhelming generosity of the national community. 'Times are really difficult for everyone, yet people still sacrificed what they can to support our baby sister [Shanice] and Ricardo in this living nightmare. 'Our babies can come home now and we can all start grieving together. Thanks will never be enough, but sincere thanks from our hearts is all we can give you right now. 'We really appreciate what you have all done. Thank you.' It comes after six-year-old Casius, who was also on the trip, is now trying to make sense of the unimaginable tragedy. Casius is said to have told his mother: "Did you know Maya and Jubs are in heaven now? Juby went to heaven in a helicopter". The heartbreaking words were told to the Daily Mail by his aunt Macalia Del Brocco after Ricardo Jnr was airlifted to the hospital. Macalia said: "So that's his understanding of it, which is bittersweet, because that was what he saw. "And it's beautiful that he thinks that's what happened, but very sadly tragic at the same time."
