General Daily Insight for July 22, 2025
Everything is falling into place. With the insightful Moon entering its home sign of comforting Cancer, we're able to tap into our empathetic, sensitive sides. The confident Sun then trots into its home sign of bold Leo at 9:29 am EDT, giving us the self-assurance we need to step into the spotlight and cheer on our loved ones. Even so, Luna also squares isolated Saturn, which can cause pessimism or self-doubt that block us from unlocking our true potential. Look on the bright side!
Aries
March 21 – April 19
You're ready to take the leap! What big project are you working on right now? It might be about to come to fruition. Even though that might seem like a heavy realization, think of it as a guidebook regarding what the next chapter of your life will be like. You have the ability to blend sensitivity with passion as you move forward, and nothing can hold you back from your destiny but you. Don't talk yourself out of shining your light!
Taurus
April 20 – May 20
Your legacy matters. How do you want people to remember you? This is a question that may be on your mind lately, and today, you might have an answer for yourself. Take some time to ponder what matters to you deep down and how you want the people who come after you to think of the life you lived. It's okay to take yourself seriously — just don't be afraid to try new things and make mistakes. Be the person you want others to remember.
Gemini
May 21 – June 20
You deserve to feel like you belong. It's possible that circumstances have made you a temporary outsider, perhaps in a new school, workplace, or living situation. Today, you have a chance to bond and become a true part of the team. It takes time to develop a shared history with any group, regardless of context. Now that you're here, it's vital to continue cultivating these connections so that they grow stronger as time goes on. Be a friend to keep a friend.
Cancer
June 21 – July 22
Let intuition be your guide. You may be feeling more confident in yourself at present. Maybe you improved your overall sense of security or gained additional access to resources. Whatever's going on, this is leading you to your next chapter. You're being given the keys to open doors and travel paths that weren't possible before! While you still could run into opposition from authority figures or responsibilities, you have the capacity to overcome the odds. Don't hold back — follow your instincts.
Leo
July 23 – August 22
You're shining bright for all to see. You might understand yourself on a deeper level than ever before, realizing some revelatory truths that feel like weights being lifted off of your shoulders. This fresh lightness allows you to move forward fearlessly, because once you have a better understanding of who you are, it matters less what other people think. Just make sure that you don't overindulge or overextend yourself, because boundaries can be more difficult to discern at the moment. You're still human!
Virgo
August 23 – September 22
You're achieving unforeseen heights! You could be achieving goals that you didn't expect to achieve for quite some time, and they've set you atop the crest of the wave, enjoying the ride. It can be a little nerve-racking when you achieve ambitions faster than you expected, because you may not know where to go next. Instead of worrying about it, let that be a matter that will be answered in the future. Stay in the present to avoid missing out on this exciting time.
Libra
September 23 – October 22
Look into the past to see your future. You have the ability to reach out to people you haven't heard from in a while, now that you might have realized where you want to go next and who you want to take with you. This is a chance to look into your past and revitalize friendships faded by time, reforming your bonds and learning more about who they are in the present. They may be more willing to reconnect with you than you'd expect.
Scorpio
October 23 – November 21
What strategies have worked for you in the past? You might have been dealing with chaos when it comes to your schedule or your access to energy or resources, but now that things are beginning to level out, you could be finding your footing again in systems that used to function as part of your life. You may have had to set them down for a while in order to handle unusually excessive unruliness, but don't permanently leave valid coping mechanisms in the past.
Sagittarius
November 22 – December 21
You're healing your inner child. Take a walk down the memory lane of pastimes and media from your childhood, as accessing them again can stir up feelings that you haven't felt in ages. It might be inspiring to see them in a new light and remind yourself of what you once loved about them before you chose or were required to set them down. Your past self is always a part of you, so indulge them by letting that childlike wonder flow through you.
Capricorn
December 22 – January 19
Home is where the heart is. You may be reconnecting to your roots right now, whether you're returning to your hometown, meeting up with family, or reconnecting with past compatriots who still feel like home. It's important to let yourself be present and enjoy this time with the people and places that bring up good memories, because who knows when the next adventure will arrive. Remembering where you came from is crucial to reaching your future destination, so stay in contact with your North Star.
Aquarius
January 20 – February 18
Knowledge about yourself may arrive through someone else. They might remind you of how you used to act when you were younger or who you want to grow up to be. Pay attention to them and what you can learn from the way that they are living their life — such as what you do and don't want to emulate going forward. If they offer advice, genuinely contemplate their insights. This connection might feel like a personal time machine, so use it wisely!
Pisces
February 19 – March 20
You're being asked to trust the process. Your situation may not look like the life you want to live, or maybe you're concerned about the lack of clarity. Don't freak out! Remind yourself that a cake looks like a mess of ingredients in a bowl before it's baked and decorated. The process frequently looks a lot messier than the final product will end up becoming, and it's okay to exist in uncertainty for a little while. It's simply the beginning of great things to come.

Elsbeth's Carrie Preston, 58, Talks Skin Cancer Diagnosis and Recovery

Best known for playing the charmingly-quirky sleuth Elsbeth on the hit CBS show of the same name, actress Carrie Preston, 58, recently revealed she was diagnosed with skin cancer after a mole on her cheek tested positive for basal cell carcinoma. Here, everything you need to know about her health scare and recovery. Plus a top dermatologist shares early warning signs of this common form of skin cancer and the most effective treatment options. Carrie Preston learned she had skin cancer while filming Elsbeth On the last day of shooting season two of Elsbeth, Preston learned a mole on her face was cancerous, she told Busy Phillips on her podcast Busy This Week. 'Everyone kept asking me what are you going to do on your hiatus [from the show],' she said. 'Just an hour prior, I had found out that a test I had done on a mole on my cheek was basal cell carcinoma… I didn't want to tell people because I was shocked and a little bit ashamed, a little bit like, what did I do wrong?' Her initial reaction to the diagnosis is a familiar one, notes board-certified and fellowship-trained cosmetic dermatologist Pooja Rambhia, MD, FAAD. 'It's common to see patients express guilt,' she confirms. 'But skin cancer is often the result of several factors, many of which are out of your control, like genetics, UV exposure decades earlier and skin type.' Luckily, the Emmy winner's misplaced sense of shame quickly yielded to the support of friends and colleagues, particularly her fellow actresses on set that day. "Within minutes these women just rallied around me" —Carrie Preston 'I thought let me talk to these women, and I was just honest: This just happened, and I've got to get this surgery—I'd never even heard of this procedure before called a Mohs,' she recalled. 'And these women just rallied around me… [guest star] Mary-Louise Parker was like, 'My friend just did that; let me get on the phone.' Within like five minutes I was talking to a doctor's office, and I had an appointment for the following week.' What is basal cell carcinoma? Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common type of skin cancer, accounting for about 80 percent of all skin cancer cases, reveals Dr. Rambhia. 'BCC typically appears on sun-exposed areas of the body, particularly the face, neck, ears, scalp, shoulders and back. On the face, it commonly occurs on the nose, forehead and cheeks, which aligns with Carrie Preston's experience.' Early skin cancer symptoms to watch for This type of skin cancer can present in several ways, Dr. Rambhia says. Symptoms of basal cell carcinoma may include: A pearly or waxy bump A flat, flesh-colored or brown scar-like lesion A bleeding or scabbing sore that heals and returns 'Sometimes [BCC] appears as a pink growth with a slightly elevated, rolled border and a crusted indentation in the center,' she adds. Unlike melanoma, which can spread aggressively throughout the body, BCC rarely metastasizes and is much less dangerous than other skin cancers like squamous cell carcinoma, she assures. 'The prognosis is excellent, with over 95 percent cure rates when treated promptly through surgical removal like Preston underwent,' Dr. Rambhia says. 'While BCC grows slowly and rarely spreads to other organs, it can cause significant local tissue damage if left untreated, making early detection and immediate medical attention crucial for the best outcomes.' How basal cell carcinoma is treated Preston admitted she had never heard of the procedure, called Mohs surgery, used to remove the cancerous mole, acknowledging it was a little more involved than she expected. What exactly does it entail? 'Mohs surgery is a precise technique where thin layers of skin are removed and examined under a microscope until no cancer cells remain—offering both the highest cure rate and maximal tissue preservation,' explains Dr. Rambhia. While this is one of the most common treatments, alternatives include standard surgical excision, topical treatments like imiquimod (a cream that boosts the immune system to kill abnormal cells), cryotherapy (freezing cancer cells) and radiation therapy, depending on the tumor's size, location and type, she adds. Preston is recovering from skin cancer surgery Describing her recovery, Preston told Phillips, 'I have a scar that's healing… so I have to wear these silicone scar strips.' Indeed, when it comes to minimizing scar tissue, early intervention makes a big difference. 'Gentle wound care, silicone gels and sun protection all help, but laser treatments—especially when started within the first few months [following surgery]—can dramatically improve the scar's appearance,' says Dr. Rambhia. 'Vascular lasers can reduce redness, while fractional lasers can smooth and soften texture, leading to a more refined cosmetic outcome,' she adds. Consult a cosmetic dermatologist to learn more. Not to be outdone by her fashion-forward Elsbeth character, Preston added that if she's going to wear something on her face, it's darn well going to be pretty. 'I went and got some jewels [adhesive gems for her scar strip]. I'm basically wearing what the kids wear to raves on my face,' she said with a laugh. How to prevent skin cancer Basal cell carcinoma is highly preventable with smart sun protection, promises Dr. Rambhia. 'Daily use of broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher, wearing hats and protective clothing and avoiding tanning beds are key. Even incidental sun exposure—like walking the dog or sitting by a window—adds up over time,' she cautions. 'If something new, changing or non-healing shows up on your skin, it's time to see a board-certified dermatologist,' she adds. 'Early detection can make a world of difference.' Toronto musicians pay tribute to Black Sabbath frontman and 'lord of metal' Ozzy Osbourne

Ozzy Osbourne, legendary frontman of the rock band Black Sabbath, "opened doors" for people who wanted to play heavy metal, Toronto musicians said following news of his death. Osbourne died Tuesday morning at the age of 76, his family said in a statement. No cause of death has been provided, but Osbourne disclosed five years ago that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. His death comes more than two weeks after his final show on July 5 in Birmingham, U.K., where he performed while sitting on a throne. He and the original members of Black Sabbath reunited for the concert in front of about 42,000 fans. Members of tribute bands and experts on rock music in Toronto said Osbourne had a major impact on music. Jaye Schwarzer, bass guitarist for the Toronto-based punk rock band Cancer Bats said Osbourne had a "distinct and unique" voice that wasn't found in pop music when he came onto the scene, which made him stand out. "He's the lord of metal. He's the prince of darkness. He made it cool to not conform," Schwarzer said on Tuesday. WATCH | Ozzy Osbourne performs in Birmingham: 'A different approach to music' Cancer Bats, using the name Bat Sabbath, have performed as a Black Sabbath tribute band. Schwarzer said it was special to see Black Sabbath twice. Schwarzer said when Black Sabbath was becoming known, pop bands such as the Bee Gees were big. "Nobody sounded dark and evil like they did," he said. "And so, it just opened doors for people with a different approach to music to say, you can do this." Osbourne rose to prominence in the late 1960s with Black Sabbath, becoming known as the father of heavy metal. In the 1980s, he launched a successful solo career. He became infamous for biting the head off a bat on stage and for his drug-fuelled lifestyle. He later reinvented himself as a lovable, but foul-mouthed, reality TV star with his family. 'He championed heavy metal for the masses' Roland Murray, a guitar player for The Ozzy Experience, an Ozzy Osbourne Black Sabbath tribute band based in Toronto, said he was "devastated" to hear that Osbourne had died. "He championed heavy metal for the masses," Murray said. "Rest in peace, Ozzy. I'm going to miss you. People around the world are going to miss you." 'The metal equivalent of Elvis Presley dying' Alan Cross, host of The Ongoing History of New Music, a music history documentary radio program in Canada produced by Corus Entertainment, said Osbourne's legacy cannot be underestimated and his impact on the music industry is undeniable. "This is the metal equivalent of Elvis Presley dying. This is how big a deal it was. Ozzy was this character who has been with us since 1969. He survived a billion things that would have killed anybody else. In the meantime, he and Black Sabbath helped invent a brand new style of music known as heavy metal," Cross said. "That style of music has influenced countless bands over the last 50 years. And Ozzy himself became a star, a solo star, with a sound of his own in the 1980s, 1990s. And then he became this TV star, and really, if you want to look at it, a pioneer of reality television," he added. "One of the things about Ozzy is, no matter where he went, he was adored and people loved him." Osbourne is survived by wife and manager Sharon; five children, including Jack, Kelly and Aimee; and several grandchildren.
