Bayern Munich make 'approach' for Liverpool star after Reds farewell message
Bayern Munich's sporting director, Max Eberl, has held discussions with Luis Diaz over a summer transfer as the Liverpool star takes time to weigh up his long-term future.
Diaz, 28, continues to be linked with a move away from Anfield in the wake of Liverpool's Premier League title-winning campaign. And it has now emerged that talks over a potential move to the newly minted German champions have already taken place.
Eberl is said to have made a 'concrete approach' to Diaz on behalf of Bayern Munich, who are searching for a wide forward after missing out on Florian Wirtz to the Reds.
Bild report that they 'discussed specific figures' in a bid to reach an agreement over personal terms for the Colombia star. Diaz is contracted to Liverpool until the summer of 2027 but has already been linked with a lucrative transfer to Spain this summer.
Bayern have other options on their radar, though, including Manchester United 's Marcus Rashford. They have already missed out on deals for Jamie Gittens and Nico Williams, with the latter seemingly poised to join Barcelona.
Details of Diaz's talks with Eberl and Bayern come just weeks after the winger's partner, Gera Ponce, sent social media into a frenzy by sharing what appeared to be a farewell message on her Instagram account.
She wrote: "To the incredible Liverpool fans. From the first day we arrived, we felt first hand what it means to be a part of this club. We knew the slogan was 'You'll Never Walk Alone', but to hear them sing it with so much passion, support us every moment and show such unconditional love... confirmed to us that here you never walk alone.

"This fan doesn't just support, it feels. And what you have made my boyfriend and our entire family feel is something we carry in our souls.
"Thank you for so much love, for so much dedication and for making us feel at home. Being a part of this fan is a privilege. There's no doubt: they're the best in the world. This is a real bond, deep and strong, that reaffirms that we'll never walk alone."

Liverpool 'want to sign Bundesliga defender with £78m release clause' - but 'face competition from two giants' including Premier League rivals
Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing wantaway RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba - but will likely have to tussle for him. The Reds are ramping up their search for a centre-back after selling Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen for £35million. Lukeba, 22, has established a strong reputation over the past few seasons at Lyon and Leipzig and earned himself a senior France cap. But the 6ft0in star is also the subject of interest from Bayern Munich and Tottenham, according to French outlet Foot Mercato. They write that while his release clause is set at almost £78million, Leipzig have an informal agreement to let him leave for less. But his deal runs until 2029, so he will likely not come cheap, and he has previously been linked with Manchester United, Chelsea, and Real Madrid. Lukeba, who starred for the France under-21s at this summer's Euros, has been compared to Josko Gvardiol, another physical defender who left Leipzig for Manchester City in 2023. He is left footed and typically plays on that side of the defence, able to slot into a back three or four. Liverpool have had their way in the transfer market this summer after signing Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez for a combined sum of at least £169.5m. But they must plan ahead given the contract situation concerning Ibrahima Konate. The Frenchman's deal is up in a year and so far negotiations have failed to result make significant progress. Real Madrid's interest is real and Paris Saint-Germain have also been mooted as a potential destination for Konate, 26. Lukeba is not the only target Liverpool have been setting their sights on. Arne Slot's side are also keen on Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, who reciprocates their interest. Their chances of snapping up the Crystal Palace captain will depend on the price demanded by the FA Cup winners. There is talk Liverpool will try to lowball Palace at £30million, whereas Palace would demand around £50m. Last year the Eagles rejected a £65m bid from Newcastle but now he only has a year left on his deal at Selhurst Park.

Joe Rothwell excited to team up with Russell Martin again
The 30-year-old, who still had a year to run on his Cherries deal, has moved to Ibrox for an undisclosed fee and signed a three-year contract. Rothwell spent six months on loan under recently-appointed Gers manager Martin at Southampton in the 2023-24 campaign as they won promotion from the Championship via the play-offs. 💙 We are today delighted to announce the signing of Joe Rothwell from @afcbournemouth on a three-year deal. 👉 — Rangers Football Club (@RangersFC) July 2, 2025 'I am delighted to have the deal done and be here,' Rothwell told Gers' website. 'It is brilliant. The size of the club speaks for itself and as soon as the interest was there it was an immediate 'yes' from me. 'With Russell coming in too it made that decision a little bit easier because working with him in the past and I know what type of guy he is and how he wants to do things. That was an even bigger pull for me, but the club speaks for itself.' Rothwell did not get the chance to play in the Premier League under Martin as he instead joined Leeds on loan from Bournemouth last season, but he enjoyed more glory at the Elland Road club – whose chairman Paraag Marathe is also now Rangers' vice-chairman – by playing 39 matches in the Whites' surge to the Championship title. Martin believes the fact his latest signing arrives at Ibrox on the back of fruitful loan stints bodes well for his time in Scotland. 'He is a player who we thoroughly enjoyed working with during my time at Southampton,' said the manager. 'His leadership, professionalism and quality were a huge asset. He is joining on the back of two promotions so helps bring a real winning mentality to the group. We are excited for Joe to join up the squad, get to know his teammates, and help make the group stronger.' Rothwell, who played up to Under-20 level with England, came through the ranks at Manchester United before moving to Oxford in 2016. Russell Martin and Joe Rothwell worked together at Southampton (Victoria Jones/PA) He then spent four years with Blackburn from 2018 to 2022 before signing for Bournemouth, which preceded his back-to-back promotion-winning stints at Southampton and Leeds. Gers sporting director Kevin Thelwell added: 'We are thrilled to secure Joe's services as we continue to strengthen the squad this summer. 'He has a wealth of experience in the game having performed strongly over a number of years at various levels in England. Emmanuel Fernandez (right) has completed a move to Rangers (Bradley Collyer/PA) 'We believe he has the right temperament and quality as a player to be a strong addition to the squad and look forward to seeing his impact.' Rothwell became Rangers' third new addition this summer following the arrival of midfielder Lyall Cameron from Dundee and right-back Max Aarons on loan from Bournemouth. The trio were later joined by Peterborough defender Emmanuel Fernandez. The 23-year-old, who was a regular for the Posh in League One last term, agreed a four-year deal at Ibrox. 👊 Welcome to Rangers, Emmanuel Fernandez! — Rangers Football Club (@RangersFC) July 2, 2025 He said on the club's website: 'I am honoured, it is a huge club with a great fanbase and I think I can kickstart my career and have a good journey here. 'I was shocked when I heard about Rangers because it is such a big club but it was the place I wanted to be. 'I haven't played at this level, there will be a lot of life changes for me, but it is something I want to be part of and I can't wait to get started.'

Napoli president 'personally intervenes in Darwin Nunez negotiations' as gap in valuation with Liverpool revealed
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has reportedly taken to personally conducting transfer negotiations for Darwin Nunez as the Italian champions look to seal a deal. Nunez joined Liverpool in a £85million club record transfer three years ago but he appears ready to leave after taking on a bit-part role under Arne Slot. The 25-year-old bagged five goals and three assists in the Premier League last season as Liverpool romped to victory but only started on eight occasions. He appears likely to move on from Anfield this summer and Napoli, Atletico Madrid and Al-Hilal have all turned their attention to the Uruguayan. Antonio Conte 's side are keen to bolster their attack as they look to reduce their reliance on Romelu Lukaku and challenge for a second consecutive Serie A title and in the latter stages of the Champions League next season. And De Laurentiis has now personally engaged in negotiations as he looks to push through a move, according to Corriere dello Sport. While Nunez is said to be open to joining the Naples outfit, talks have stalled in recent weeks. Napoli's president therefore decided to take it into his own hands, personally speaking to Fali Ramadani, who is brokering the deal. The Serie A champions have not yet agreed a transfer fee with Liverpool but Liverpool are thought to be holding out for €60m (£51m). But Napoli are reluctant to offer more than €43m (£37m), despite it being less than half of the fee Liverpool paid Benfica in 2022. Udinese forward Lorenzo Lucca is Napoli's alternative but the 24-year-old Italy international would cost at least €40m (£34m). If Nunez were to complete a move to Napoli he would link up with a number of ex-Premier League stars. Former Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay won Serie A Player of the Season in May, while he lines up with Scotland team-mate and ex-Chelsea Billy Gilmour. Kevin De Bryune completed a move to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium last month and Rasmus Hojlund and Trevoh Chalobah have also been linked with the club.
