Can't Wait for iOS 26? The Public Beta Could Land on Your iPhone This Week
Historically, Apple releases the first public beta of its upcoming iPhone software during July. Apple usually releases the latest iOS version in September, so a July public beta release gives the company time to squash major bugs and address issues you might encounter on your iPhone before the OS shows up for everyone.
But we're already halfway through July so you might be wondering where the public beta is. The good news is that Mark Gurman, a managing editor and Apple reporter at Bloomberg, posted on X, formerly Twitter, that Apple could release the public beta around Wednesday, July 23. That means public beta testers could get to experience new iOS 26 features, like Liquid Glass, backgrounds in Messages and more, in less than 48 hours.
Before you download the public beta, you should know that this is a beta version of iOS 26, not the final version of the software. That means the update might be buggy for you, and your device's battery life may be affected, so it's best to keep those troubles off your primary device. If you want to try the beta, I recommend downloading it on a secondary device.
You should also know iOS 26 is only compatible with devices newer than the iPhone 11. So if you have an iPhone XR -- like I do -- you can't download the developer or public beta of iOS 26. Trust me: I tried, and my XR wouldn't load the page to download the developer beta despite me really wanting to see if my almost seven-year-old device could handle the OS.

Neuralink targets $1 billion revenue by 2031, Bloomberg News reports
(Reuters) -Elon Musk's brain implant company Neuralink aims to generate at least $1 billion in annual revenue by 2031, driven by plans to perform 20,000 surgeries per year, Bloomberg News reported on Wednesday, citing investor documents. The company aims to operate five large clinics within six years and offer three versions of its brain device, including Telepathy for communication between the brain and machines, Blindsight for restoring vision, and Deep for treating tremors and Parkinson's disease, according to the report. Frustrated with Google Home? Google thanks you for your patience
If you've been experiencing issues with Google Home and your smart home devices, you're far from alone. There have been numerous reports about devices disconnecting, delayed responses, ignored commands, and more. However, a fix for the problem could be on the way. On Reddit , a Google Home user shared that 90% of their Smart Life light bulbs had disconnected. But it wasn't just their light bulbs that were having issues. They also mentioned that their eufy doorbell and Tapo cameras stopped connecting, as well. The user questions whether the problem is connected to a bad update. Under that post, you'll find multiple comments from other Google Home users who are also running into similar issues. One commenter says, 'I've only been able to connect to Home two or three times today.' Another states that all of their cameras are down, despite all of their other smart home devices working. Thankfully, it looks like Google is aware of the issue in question. In response to the post, Google announced: Hey all, We're aware of an issue with accessing some devices in the Google Home app. We'll share an update as soon as possible, thanks for your patience. Unfortunately, all this message really tells us is that Google knows there's an issue and it is presumably working on a fix. It's unclear when that fix could roll out. We have contacted Google for more information, and we will update this article if we hear back.

Google adds new button to Discover that will save you some scrolling
Andy Walker / Android Authority TL;DR Google has added a new jump-to-top button in the Discover feed. It only appears when accessing Discover from the launcher, not inside the Google app. The button is available in the latest beta version and appears when you scroll up. Some people are content with endlessly scrolling through the Google Discover feed, but others are keen to get back to the latest updates at the top as fast as possible. Big tech will always oblige if it keeps you on the platform, and the latest beta version of the Google app ( now includes a jump-to-top button. We spotted that the new button is only available when you access Discover from the launcher by swiping right from the home screen. If you open it through the Google app itself, the shortcut doesn't appear. Even from the launcher, the button only appears as you start to scroll back up, so as not to intrude on those who are continuing down. You can see this in action in the video below. It's a minor UI tweak, but one that mirrors other apps and will be welcomed by most people. The button shows up consistently across our devices running the latest beta, so it seems to be rolling out widely. This comes hot on the heels of the revelation that Google is also testing bookmarks and AI summaries in the Discover feed.
