Improved road connectivity shrinking economic, social and geographical gaps in Uttarakhand: CM Pushkar Dhami
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], June 24 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday said the state is witnessing a transformative phase of development, driven by rapid improvements in road infrastructure that are bridging not only geographical distances but also narrowing economic and social gaps between the hills and the plains.
CM Dhami highlighted that enhanced road connectivity is laying the foundation for a self-reliant Uttarakhand, advancing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a 'Developed India.'
In a post on X, CM Dhami wrote, 'Continuous improvement in road connectivity in Uttarakhand has given a new pace to the state's development. Now, with the construction of all-weather roads, bypass routes, tunnels, and modern bridges, the distance between hills and plains is not just geographical but is also shrinking economically and socially.'
'The unprecedented work done in the field of road connectivity is the foundation of a self-reliant Uttarakhand, a strong step towards realising the vision of a 'Developed India' as envisioned by the respected Prime Minister, Narendra Modi,' the post added on X.

Meanwhile, on Monday, CM Dhami took part in an event at Parade Ground, Dehradun, to mark International Olympic Day. He honoured players who won international and national medals and administered the oath of sportsmanship.
He said that this day is dedicated to sportsmanship, unity, and peace. The Olympics are not just a competition but a symbol of dedication, sadhana, and national pride.
Chief Minister Dhami said extensive work has been done to promote sports in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India is now emerging as a winner, not just a participant. In the 2023 Asian Games, India performed best with 107 medals, while 126 players from India qualified for the 2020 Olympics, which shows the strength of the sports ecosystem in the country.
He further said that the state government is committed to developing Uttarakhand as 'Khel Bhumi'. In the recently held 38th National Games, the players of Uttarakhand made the state proud by winning 103 medals. He added that work is being done rapidly towards establishing 23 sports academies, the Sports University Haldwani and the Women's Sports College Lohaghat in eight major cities of the state. (ANI)

New Delhi: Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, the first Indian to reach International Space Station, told Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday that he brought "gajar ka halwa, moong dal ka halwa and aam ras" with him and other astronauts with him liked the Indian delicacies. Speaking aboard the ISS, Group Captain Shukla also said that it looks from space that no borders exit on Earth. "The first view was of the Earth and after seeing the Earth from outside, the first thought and the first thing that came to mind was that the Earth looks completely one, no border is visible from outside. When we see the Earth from outside, it seems that no border exists, no state exists, no countries exist. We all are part of humanity, and the Earth is our one home, and all of us are in it," he said. Group Captain Shukla, who is second Indian to reach Space, said he feels very proud as India has reached the International Space Station and it collective achievement of the country. He said he is feeling very emotional and happy after the conversation with PM Modi. He urged youth to work hard, never stop trying and said "the sky is never the limit". "I am feeling very emotional and happy after having a conversation with you and 140 crore Indians. I feel very proud as India has reached the International Space Station...I have learnt a lot in the entire journey. This is a collective achievement of the whole nation...I want to send a message to the younger generation that if you work hard, the future of the nation will be good. The sky is never the limit," Group Captain Shukla said. "The message I would like to give our young generation is that India has seen very bold and high dreams and to fulfil those dreams, we need all of you. There is no single way to success, but one thing that is common in every path is that you should never stop trying. If you adopt this basic mantra, then success may come today or tomorrow, but it will definitely come," he added. With India's first human Space mission "Gaganyaan" programme having entered its final phase, Shubhanshu Shukla said he is absorbing all the lessons and experience like a sponge. "I am confident that these lessons will be highly valuable for us and that we will apply them effectively in the coming missions," he said. "India is progressing at a swift will have its stations in plays a significant role in maintaining calmness, as there are many stressful situations during training and launch. The first experiment, which is scheduled today, is on stem experiment focuses on how we can prevent or delay muscle loss in space by taking a specific supplement. We will also see if these supplements can be beneficial for older people on Earth as well," he said.

'Socialist, secular' were rejected in original Constitution: Union Minister Pralhad Joshi
Haveri (Karnataka) [India], June 29 (ANI): Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has claimed that the words 'socialist' and 'secular' were rejected in the original Constitution by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. Speaking to ANI, Joshi on Saturday said, 'The words 'socialist' and 'secular' were rejected in the original Constitution by no less than Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar himself. We respect the Constitution given by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.' The remarks came after RSS general secretary Hosabale suggested reconsidering the inclusion of the terms 'socialist' and 'secular' in the Preamble of the Indian Constitution. Hosabale was addressing an event on the 50th anniversary of the emergency, held at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre, jointly organised by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (under the Ministry of Culture) and the Ambedkar International Centre. Speaking at the event, he emphasised that the emergency wasn't just a misuse of power but an attempt to crush civil liberties. Millions were imprisoned, and freedom of the press was suppressed. He remarked that during the emergency, terms like 'socialist' and 'secular' were forcibly inserted into the Constitution - a move that needs to be reconsidered. Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi came down heavily on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), saying that it doesn't want the Constitution but the Manusmriti. Intensifying his attack, Gandhi said that RSS intended to violate the rights of the marginalised and the poor while enslaving them. 'The mask of RSS has come off again,' he added. 'RSS-BJP doesn't want the Constitution. They want Manusmriti. They aim to strip the marginalised and the poor of their rights and enslave them again. Snatching a powerful weapon like the Constitution from them is their real agenda,' the Congress leader posted on X. 'The Constitution irks them because it speaks of equality, secularism, and justice,' he added. Gandhi asserted that Congress would resist the dreams of RSS to 'snatch' the constitution from the marginalised and the poor. 'RSS should stop dreaming this dream - we will never let them succeed. A female student was allegedly gang-raped inside the South Calcutta Law College in Kolkata's Kasba on Wednesday, June 25. Kolkata police has formed a five-member Special team to investigate the incident.
