Airbus to Deliver 20 A330-900 Jets to Malaysia Aviation Group

Globe and Mail07-07-2025
Airbus SE EADSY recently secured a firm order from the Malaysia Aviation Group to deliver 20 of its A330-900 widebody commercial aircraft. This should bolster EADSY's commercial aircraft backlog and future revenue prospects.
This contract win further strengthens Airbus' A330neo jet's position in the global commercial aircraft market, particularly for wide-body jets.
Why A330-900?
Airbus' A330-900 aircraft, powered by the next-generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, can fly up to 7,350 nautical miles (13,334 km) and all types of routes, from short to medium and long range. This fuel-efficient aircraft boasts the capability to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 25% compared to previous generation aircraft.
Such exceptional attributes must have been boosting demand for this jet, resulting in strong order growth, like the latest one.
Surging Global Demand Fuels EADSY's Growth
Rising air passenger traffic, backed by enhanced air travel among passengers and executives, along with the increasing demand for fuel-efficient and modern aircraft, is driving growth in the commercial aviation market.
To this end, Airbus expects the world's passenger fleet to nearly double during the 2025-2044 period, with the demand for new commercial jets totaling 43,420 new aircraft. This demand should get translated into meaningful revenue growth for this jet giant. In line with this, EADSY's commercial aircraft activities generated 4% year-over-year revenue growth in the first quarter of 2025.
As of May 2025, the company has delivered 243 commercial aircraft to 61 customers. We expect the company to continue to record similar revenue growth in the coming quarters, thanks to such robust delivery numbers. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for Airbus' 2025 revenues suggests an annual improvement of 12.9%, further supporting this thesis.

This Brilliant New Technology Could Drive Taiwan Semiconductor to Become a $3 Trillion Company

Key Points Taiwan Semiconductor is set to launch a 2nm chip later this year. The demand for this new technology outpaces demand for previous generations. 10 stocks we like better than Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing › Taiwan Semiconductor (NYSE: TSM) is currently valued at around $1.25 trillion, making it the ninth-largest company in the world. Normally, investors don't expect these large companies to produce outstanding growth, as the larger a business gets, the more difficult it becomes for it to grow. However, TSMC has monster growth projections on the table, as well as a new technology that could drive shares much higher. Rising from today's $1.25 trillion valuation to a $3 trillion valuation would require a 140% return. However, management believes there's plenty of growth in store for Taiwan Semiconductor to meet this threshold. Taiwan Semiconductor's new chip technologies will push its stock higher Taiwan Semiconductor is the world's leading semiconductor foundry. Its business strategy is to offer its clients best-in-class chip production technologies, and not compete against them. This business model has worked out incredibly well for TSMC, and its customer list ranges from Nvidia to Apple to Tesla. If you have a cutting-edge technology device, it's likely that it contains a chip manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor. One of the reasons TSMC established itself at the top of its industry is its dedication to driving the next greatest innovation. In recent chip launches, Taiwan Semiconductor outpaced its peers by offering the most advanced technology available first. That doesn't seem to be changing, as it has some promising technology in the pipeline. Later this year, Taiwan Semiconductor is expected to launch its N2 chip node, indicating 2nm (nanometer) spacing between traces. The pre-launch demand for the N2 node exceeds that of the 3nm and 5nm offerings. This is big news for Taiwan Semiconductor, as the improvements this generation offers are substantial enough that many companies are designing their products around this new technology. The biggest improvement the N2 offers its users is energy efficiency. This has implications for the smartphone industry, with longer-lasting phones being more desirable. Additionally, the energy consumption of AI computing devices to run generative AI prompts is becoming a front-and-center topic. When N2 chips are configured at the same processing speed as 3nm chips, they consume 25% to 30% less energy. That's a massive improvement, and the energy savings from these chips may warrant upgrading to new computing units. Beyond its N2 launch, the company is slated to bring its A16 chip (1.6nm) to market in 2026. The A16 is expected to achieve an energy consumption improvement of 15% to 20% on top of the N2. A14 is the next technology TSMC is working on, but it won't reach production until 2028, so there's quite a bit of time between now and the scheduled launch date. Still, these technologies will drive further growth for TSMC and potentially propel it to a $3 trillion valuation mark in a fairly short timeframe. Taiwan Semi's management projects monster growth over the next five years Management projects that, starting with 2025, its revenue will rise at nearly a 20% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the next five years. However, management has exceeded its own guidance every quarter this year, so it shouldn't surprise investors to see this projection increase. Should TSMC grow its revenue at a 20% CAGR, that would indicate nearly 150% growth, above the threshold needed for TSMC to rise to a $3 trillion valuation point. Additionally, Taiwan Semiconductor isn't an expensive stock, at least compared to the broader market. TSM PE Ratio (Forward) data by YCharts. At 24.6 times forward earnings, TSMC is only slightly more expensive than the S&P 500, which trades at 23.8 times forward earnings. With a reasonable price tag and a fairly clear growth strategy, I think Taiwan Semiconductor is about as no-brainer a stock pick as it gets in today's market. World shares advance after EU strikes trade deal with Trump

(AP Photo/Ahn Young-joon) BANGKOK — Stock markets in Europe and Asia shot higher Monday after the European Union worked out a trade deal with the Trump administration ahead of this week's deadline. U.S. futures and oil prices were higher ahead of trade talks in Stockholm between U.S. and Chinese officials. Germany's DAX gained 0.6% to 24,359.81, while the CAC 40 in Paris advanced 0.8% to 7,900.48. Britain's FTSE 100 picked up 0.3% to 9,148.34. The agreement between the EU and U.S. President Donald Trump calls for 15% tariffs on most EU exports to the U.S. Before Trump began ramping up tariffs, the level was 1%. The deal was announced after Trump and European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen met briefly at the president's Turnberry golf course in Scotland. It staves off far higher import duties on both sides that might have sent shock waves through economies around the globe. Tokyo's Nikkei 225 index lost 1.1% to 40,998.27 after doubts surfaced over what exactly last week's trade truce between Japan and Trump entails, especially Japan's $550 billion pledge of investment in the U.S. Terms of the deal are still being negotiated and nothing has been formalized in writing, said an official who insisted on anonymity to detail the terms of the talks. The official suggested the goal was for a $550 billion fund to make investments at Trump's direction. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index gained 0.7% to 25,563.32, while the Shanghai Composite index edged 0.1% higher to 3,597.94. Taiwan's Taiex rose 0.2%. CK Hutchison, a Hong Kong conglomerate that's selling ports at the Panama Canal, said it may seek a Chinese investor to join a consortium of buyers in a move that might please Beijing but could also bring more U.S. scrutiny to a geopolitically fraught deal. CK Hutchison's shares fell 0.6% on Monday in Hong Kong. Elsewhere in Asia, South Korea's Kospi climbed 0.4% to 3,209.52, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.4% to 8,697.70. India's Sensex slipped 0.3%. Markets in Thailand were closed for a holiday. On Friday, the S&P 500 rose 0.4% to 6,388.64, setting an all-time for the fifth time in a week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.5% to 44,901.92, while the Nasdaq composite added 0.2%, closing at 21,108.32 to top its own record. Deckers, the company behind Ugg boots and Hoka shoes, jumped 11.3% after reporting stronger profit and revenue for the spring than analysts expected. Its growth was particularly strong outside the United States, where revenue soared nearly 50%. But Intell fell 8.5% after reporting a loss for the latest quarter, when analysts were looking for a profit. The struggling chipmaker also said it would cut thousands of jobs and eliminate other expenses as it tries to turn around its fortunes. Intel, which helped launch Silicon Valley as the U.S. technology hub, has fallen behind rivals like Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices while demand for artificial intelligence chips soars. Companies are under pressure to deliver solid growth in profits to justify big gains for their stock prices, which have rallied to record after record in recent weeks. Wall Street has zoomed higher on hopes that President Donald Trump will reach trade deals with other countries that will lower his stiff proposed tariffs, along with the risk that they could cause a recession and drive up inflation. Trump has recently announced deals with Japan and the Philippines, and the next big deadline is looming on Friday, Aug. 1. Apart from trade talks, this week will also feature a meeting by the Federal Reserve on interest rates. Trump again on Thursday lobbied the Fed to cut rates, which he has implied could save the U.S. government money on its debt repayments. Fed Chair Jerome Powell has said he is waiting for more data about how Trump's tariffs affect the economy and inflation before making a move. The widespread expectation on Wall Street is that the Fed will wait until September to resume cutting interest rates. In other dealings early Monday, U.S. benchmark crude oil gained 40 cents to $65.56 per barrel. Brent crude, the international standard, added 40 cents to $68.06 per barrel. The dollar rose to 147.85 Japanese yen from 147.71 yen. The euro slipped to $1.1719 from $1.1758. Elaine Kurtenbach, The Associated Press
