Sir Keir Starmer has paid tribute to the victims of the Southport stabbings a year on from the attack.
The horrifying attack claimed the lives of Bebe King, Alice da Silva Aguiar and Elsie Dot Stancombe, who were attending a Taylor Swift-themed dance class.
'One year on, the whole nation stands with the families of Bebe, Alice and Elsie', the Prime Minister said in a statement on X.
'We stand together in grief, in honour of the memory of those wonderful children, and in admiration of the families who have shown strength beyond words.

'And we stand with the people of

Ahead of the vigil, Merseyside Police officers announced they would be in attendance to "stand in solidarity" with the Southport victims.
In a post on its social media accounts, the force said: 'One year on, words still fall short.
'The loss we all feel today as we remember Alice, Elsie and Bebe remains immeasurable.
'We stand with their families, friends, those who were injured and the many others affected by what happened on that tragic day.
'At 3pm our officers and staff will be standing in solidarity to observe a three-minute silence in memory of the three girls and all those involved.
'May we continue to honour their memory with kindness, compassion and the strength of togetherness.
'Alice, Elsie and Bebe will forever be in our hearts.'

The figures come from a Freedom of Information request submitted by The Mirror to the DVLA, revealing how many cars were reported stolen between 1 January and 1 July 2025. Leading the list is the Fiesta Zetec, a long-time favourite with UK drivers thanks to its affordability, smart design and solid performance. Experts at Cinch explained: 'Zetec is a step above Style, and you get quite a lot of bang for your buck, including alloy wheels and a heated windscreen. Natali Khomenk, who lives in Thailand, shared how she had visited Japan on a solo trip in March as she had thought it was a very safe country. In a clip on her @natalisi account, she claimed: 'I came back around 7:30 p.m., unlocked my room like usual, took off my clothes, lay down on the bed, and then I noticed a weird smell. 'At first, I thought it was coming from my hair or the bed sheets, but then I realised it was coming from under the bed. She continued: 'The next days of my trip were a nightmare. I couldn't sleep. I was constantly on edge, checking every corner of my room.'
