Like a sudden meteor shower: F4 makes surprise reunion at Mayday concert, delighting fans (VIDEO)

TAIPEI, July 13 — Concertgoers at Taiwanese group Mayday's concert last night got a surprise bonus: an appearance of the group F4, singing their most famous hit Meteor Rain. ET Today reported that last night was Mayday's Taipei Arena stop and it also became the first time F4 had reunited in 12 years. More than 40,000 fans were treated to this unexpected show. The last time the F4 members had appeared together was China's 2013 Spring Festival Gala. Mayday had apparently attempted to invite the group as guests two years ago, but busy schedules prevented it from happening. Besides Meteor Shower, F4 and Mayday also performed the latter's The Song of Laughter and Forgetting. Will there be a possible group concert happening sometime? After the overwhelming social media response from delighted fans, perhaps the F4 members will be motivated to make it happen. F4's Jerry Yan, Vanness Wu, Ken Chu and Vic Chou were a boyband consisting of the lead actors from the popular Taiwanese TV drama series Meteor Garden that also helped launch the career of the late Barbie Hsu. The show was a hit across Asia and heralded the beginning of idol drama shows.

Chubby black panther Apoh well-taken care of, Zoo Negara says in response to concerned TikTok comments (VIDEO)

KUALA LUMPUR, July 13 – Step aside Oyen, a new feline is taking over the spotlight. This is after a recent video of a chubby black panther at Zoo Negara has been amassing views on TikTok and has left local users amused and in awe. The 15-second snippet shared by user OldMonkey showed the black panther resting while basking itself under the sun. The user also tagged Zoo Negara in the post, cheekily asking for an explanation behind the seemingly overweight feline. This has also led to social media users poking fun at its size while some users were even seen confusing it with a sun bear due to its size and colour. 'Is this a black panther or a british shorthair?' TikTok user Say commented. 'I don't want to body shame him but can he still run fast?' commented TikTok user Lola. 'This one we definitely can't let it go back to its habitat, I'm afraid he won't survive,' commented TikTok user Maryam. However Zoo Negara were quick to chime in on the matter, clarifying its name as Apoh in the comment section of the post. Previously via their Facebook, Zoo Negara shared that 'black panther' is a generic name used for any black-coloured big cat and Apoh is actually a black leopard. 'Thank you so much to everyone who cares! Don't worry, our vet team is currently taking care of Apoh with lots of love, the best treatment and careful attention. 'The team would closely monitor Apoh to make sure that he is okay. 'We appreciate all the words of encouragement for Apoh to get back to his ideal weight,' Zoo Negara wrote in the comment section. The video has garnered over two million views since it was shared three days ago. Apoh is also one of the animals that are available for Zoo Negara's Adoption Package where you can contribute monetary donations to help maintain its annual food, enrichment and veterinary care. The Zoo Negara's Adoption Package is available via where members of the public can choose to donate between RM25 and RM1,000 and in return, they will receive a certificate of adoption along with an acknowledgement in Zoo Negara's annual report. Perak's Lenggong Valley Unesco site boom: Tourists soar, locals thrive, and geopark bid gains ground

LENGGONG, July 13 — Lenggong Valley continues to record rapid growth as a heritage tourism destination, with tourist arrivals soaring by over 280 per cent in just two years. Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the number of tourists rose from 24,770 in 2022 to 114,182 last year, following continuous efforts to develop the area. 'Tour guides saw their income increase by 237 per cent, while accommodation operators recorded a 145 per cent increase in revenue over the same period. 'This development has had a direct impact on the local economy, especially for rural communities, including traditional villages and the Orang Asli, who are now actively involved in tourism-related activities such as handicrafts, traditional food and homestay programmes,' he said. He said this during a dinner event held in conjunction with the evaluation session of the Aspiring Lenggong Unesco Global Geopark (UGGp) site here yesterday. Saarani said scientific studies conducted have identified several areas with development potential, involving 39 geosites, 11 geoarchaeological sites, eight biosites, and 21 cultural and heritage sites. 'Five of these sites have been recognised for their international geological value, encompassing unique and interrelated elements of geological heritage, biodiversity, culture and archaeology. 'This diversity of resources makes Lenggong Valley not only an important site for research activities but also a competitive international tourism destination,' he said. He also said the state government is actively strengthening Lenggong Valley's international standing through collaborations with various international geopark networks and participation in global conferences, including with Japan, South Korea and Turkey. 'Lenggong Valley is no longer just a tourism destination, it is now a centre for human capital development based on heritage,' he added. Lenggong Valley, designated as a Unesco World Heritage Site since 2012, spans 22 square kilometres (sq km) which is about one per cent of the total area of the Aspiring Lenggong Unesco Global Geopark, which covers 2,248 sq km. The UGGp area covers five subdistricts, Durian Pipit, Temelong, Lenggong, Kenering and Gerik, with a population of around 61,039 people. — Bernama
