While one hotel rose above the pack, two powerhouse properties tied for the runner-up spot on this year's list: the Mandarin Oriental Pudong, Shanghai and The Middle House.
Mandarin Oriental Pudong is located along the banks of the Huangpu River and positioned among the glittering skyscrapers of the Pudong neighborhood, the city's financial district. This hotel charmed guests with its 'very beautiful view' and 'exceptional hospitality.' Among its food and beverage outlets, there are two fine dining options: Fifty 8° Grill, specializing in French fusion in an Art Deco-inspired setting, and the Michelin-starred Yong Yi Ting, for authentic regional Chinese cuisine.

7 Toiletry Bag Hacks I Swear by as a Travel Editor After Losing $200 in Products at Airport Security
As a travel editor, I'm always eagerly trying to plan my next trip so I can test new gear and debunk viral hacks. The biggest packing lesson I've learned in my decade of travel? Never underestimate your toiletry bag. This became abundantly clear on my last trip to London, when my poorly packed toiletry bag single-handedly ruined my experience abroad. Since it exceeded England's liquid carry-on limit, I had to exit the security line and toss $200 worth of beloved products from Charlotte Tilbury, Armani Beauty, and other pricey brands, resulting in a mad dash through the security line and the airport to make it to my gate. Now, you won't catch me holding up TSA or wrestling with a toiletry bag that's bursting at the seams, and it's all thanks to these genius packing tips. When transferring your toiletries and beauty products into travel bottles isn't an option, you'll want to make sure that you've got them ready to go in TSA-approved, travel-sized containers. At the top of my travel-sized must-haves is the Ilia Base Face Milk, which adds extra hydration to your skin when you're on the go (whether you're doing your nighttime routine after a long day in the sun or need to get rid of dryness before putting on your makeup). Hong Kong Issues Highest Storm Alert as Typhoon Wipha Approaches
Hong Kong raised its storm alert to the highest level as it braced for tropical cyclone Wipha, with Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd. delaying and canceling flights in and out of the city on Sunday. The Hong Kong Observatory lifted the signal to No. 10 at 9:20 a.m. local time. Wipha is expected to pass the city about 50 kilometers (31 miles) to the south, with wind speeds of 118 kilometers an hour, the weather agency said on its website. The maximum alert, which was last issued in 2023, is set to remain in force for 'some time,' it said.
