Farmer Wants A Wife 2025: 'Some people aren't made for reality TV': Reason behind FWAW mass exodus

Herald Sun29-04-2025
Let's face it - love them or hate them, some people are just built for reality TV. The kind of people who will make a show entertaining no matter what it is, no matter what it is, or who they're with.
These people are often funny, outgoing, quick-witted, and know how to work their way around a bit of drama - whether they're actually involved in it or not.
But, not everyone is like that. And, that's okay! You'd just hope you would realise that before you end up on a show.
Unfortunately for a few Farmer Wants A Wife contestants, this just wasn't the case, resulting in a mass exodus we kinda saw coming.

Following four successful 24-hour dates, we saw the rest of this year's FWAW contestants reunite with their respective farmers at their homes in last night's episode.
These moments felt wholesome for the most part, albeit giving a little 'Helloooo, New York' (in the voice of Hannah Montana). But, you could tell pretty quickly that not everyone was ready to settle in.
At Farmer Tom's farm in particular, things were more than a little tense.
Whilst three of the women were ready to get involved in the shearing shed, and help him with the cooking, the other two waited behind.
So, it was only somewhat of a surprise when these two women, Emmie and Bridget, slipped out in the early hours of the morning after less than 24-hours on the farm, without giving Tom so much as a goodbye.
'My time is precious, and I want to get back to Sydney, see my family and friends,' Bridget said upon her departure.
Thankfully, Tom was planning on taking them both on the dreaded double date, where one would have been dumped regardless, so really, it wasn't a huge loss.

As a result of the double dates that did happen, we also saw Farmer Thomas send Nat home, following a cheeky kiss with Clare, and Farmer Jarrad send home Maneesha.
But, the most emotional of the three was the departure of self-proclaimed introvert, Rosie.
In the episode, Farmer Corey chose Rosie along with Hunter for the double date, and immediately for Rosie, things were looking grim.
And, of course, if you know you've got a 50% chance of going home, this is understandable.
'I consider this double date as being like a second option,' she says.
'I feel like it's going to be… not me.'
The three of them played tennis together, relatively unsuccessfully, which ended in tears for Rosie. And, despite Corey's best efforts to reconcile her, she still ended up choosing to go home on her own volition at the end of the night.
'I came into this experience thinking that you were pretty much perfect for me… but I think I've decided to not continue anymore with the experience that we're doing at the moment,' she said to him.
'I can't fall in love this way.' You don't have to be on TV!
Reality TV is notoriously a pretty difficult thing to be a part of. Countless former 'stars' have come out since their stints, exposing their mistreatment behind the scenes, inaccurate and villainising edits, and the struggles which inevitably come with being suddenly thrust into the public eye.
So, for those like Rosie, I do feel bad. As a fellow introverted crier who gets easily overwhelmed, I would never go on reality TV, so while I commend her braveness in giving it a go, I also think she made the right decision to leave on her own accord. We're not made for reality TV, and that's okay!
Emmie and Bridget on the other hand, I think could have been good TV - on a different show without a farm, and a guy they're just not that into. Emmie has already posted about a new boyfriend, so maybe we'll see her on The Block in the future, and Bridget could do a stint on MAFS?
Whilst it would be frustrating for Farmer Tom to be left with just three girls, at least now he and Thomas are on the same page, as somewhere along the line he seems to have lost one - with only four women spotted at the dinner table before Nat's departure.

Star Trek actor Tom Troupe dead at 97

Star Trek and Mission: Impossible star Tom Troupe has died aged 97. The film star passed away at his home in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California from natural causes on July 20 - five days after his birthday. He is survived by his son Christopher Troupe, daughter-in-law Becky Coulter, granddaughter Ashley Troupe and several nieces and nephews. Tom was married to Sixteen Candles actress Carole Cook from 1964 until her death from heart failure at the age of 98 in 2023. Instead of flowers, requests for donations have been made to either the Entertainment Community Fund or the Pasadena Humane Society. Tom was born on July 15, 1928, in North Kansas City, Missouri. He moved to New York in 1948, and studied at the Herbert Berghof Studio in Manhattan in the early 1950s, after he was given a scholarship from the late Reversal of Fortune actress-and-teacher, Uta Hagen. Tom served in the Korean War - which was fought from 1950 until 1953 - and was awarded a Bronze Star for his service. Following the war, Tim returned to New York and made his Broadway debut as Peter van Daan in 1957's The Diary of Anne Frank, which also starred Joseph Schildkraut and Gusti Huber. The following year, Tom moved to Los Angeles, California, where he landed dozens of top film and TV acting jobs during the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. Some of his most notable acting credits included playing David Day in the Mission: Impossible TV series, as well as being cast as Lieutenant Matthew Harold in the Star Trek TV series, both in 1967. Tom also appeared in The Fugitive, The Wild, Wild West, Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, Cagney and Lacey, CHiPs, Knots Landing, Murder, She Wrote, Cheers, The Big Fisherman, The Devil's Brigade, Kelly's Heroes, Summer School and My Own Private Idaho. On stage, he co-starred alongside Carole - who with Tom was honoured with the 2002 Los Angeles Ovation Award for Career Achievement - in The Lion in Winter, Fathers Day and The Gin Game. He also co-wrote a one-actor play called The Diary of a Madman. Tom also co-founded The Faculty, a Los Angeles-based acting school, alongside Charles Nelson Reilly, Lu Leonard, John Erman, and Dom DeLuise.

Tom Holland watched Tottenham Hotspur's Europa League triumph on set of The Odyssey

Tom Holland watched his beloved Tottenham Hotspur win the Europa League whilst filming The Odyssey. The Spider-Man star is a big fan of the Premier League club and recalled how he watched the closing stages of May's final against Manchester United as Spurs ended their 17-year wait for a major trophy in between takes on the set of Christopher Nolan's upcoming epic. Tom told GQ: "I was shooting Chris Nolan's movie in LA. We were not allowed our phones on set, so I was not aware of the score. I kept going to the sneaky crew members who I knew always had their phones and kept asking them for updates. "I went to my trailer for lunch and caught the last 10 minutes of the game, and my celebration was coming back to the set full of energy and doing a really fantastic scene." Tom was particularly pleased for Tottenham captain Son Heung-Min, who finally lifted his first piece of silverware with Spurs after a decade with the north London club. The 29-year-old star said: "I was incredibly happy for Sonny. For me to see him win a trophy after years of dedication to our club... He really could have played with any club, he's a world class player. But he stuck with his roots and he stayed with Tottenham. "Whatever he decides to do now, I think that he can stay at the club or move to another club with a great sense of pride. He'll always be a Tottenham legend." The Odyssey is set to be released next year and Holland says that working on the much-anticipated picture has been "the job of a lifetime". He said: "It was amazing. The job of a lifetime, without a doubt. The best experience I've had on the film set. Incredible. It was exciting. It was different. And I think the movie is going to be unlike anything we've ever seen. "Working with Chris, getting to know him and Emma (Thomas) was absolutely fantastic. I've never seen someone that can work the way they do, and there is a reason why they're the best in the business for sure. "To get a front row seat to that and to be a part of the process and to collaborate with a true master of his craft and learn from him was the best experience I've ever had." Tom added: "Matt Damon has always been a hero of mine, Anne Hathaway has always been a hero of mine. So to share scenes with them, to learn from them, to become friends with them, I couldn't have asked for a better job. "And I'm so proud of the work I've done. I came to work every day with a real sense of purpose and a point to prove, and I'm so grateful for Chris to have given me that opportunity."

Tom Cruise 'has been a mentor for Ana de Armas'

Tom Cruise has been an "incredible mentor" to Ana de Armas. The 63-year-old actor and Ana, 37, have a "special work relationship" and the actress has "prepped" all summer for their first project together - a supernatural ocean thriller called Deeper. A source told People: "Tom is crazy hardworking and she's very excited to work with him. She calls it an opportunity of a lifetime." Tom and Ana have been romantically linked to each other over recent months. However, an insider has insisted that their relationship is "not romantic" and that they are simply friends and work partners. The source shared: "Tom is an incredible mentor to Ana. She has nothing but amazing things to say about him." Tom is still one of Hollywood's most bankable stars, and he's never lost his passion for filmmaking. The actor recently admitted that he's fulfilling a "life-long dream" by working in the movie business. He told Extra: "It's such a privilege to do what I do. "It's been a life-long dream of mine to be able to do this and to make movies ... I truly, I love it. That is my, I don't know, it's not what I do, it's who I am. "It is my honour to entertain." Tom is willing to put his body on the line in order to make the best movies possible. The actor - who has suffered various injuries during his career, including a broken ankle while shooting 2018's Mission: Impossible - Fallout - explained: "I fly aerobatic airplanes, I fly jets, I fly helicopters, and this took all of our ability and all of our skill to be able find the camera angles to tell this story." Tom needed to be in tip-top physical shape to shoot the Mission: Impossible movies, and he felt particularly proud of the action scenes in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. He said: "Physically, what I had to do to prepare for this thing was quite extreme, and I can tell you this - whatever people see in the trailer or on TV, it is not even a taste of what they have in store for them when they see this film."
