‘Don't Ruin This Generation': MNS Leader Slaps Thane Gaming Zone Staff Over Students' Visits

News186 days ago
An MNS leader allegedly slapped the staff of a gaming zone in Thane for allowing students to visit in school uniform, according to a report.
MNS workers were yet again involved in an assault incident in Maharashtra; however, this time it did not pertain to the Marathi language controversy, but was linked to students inside a gaming zone in school uniform, according to a report.
MNS' Thane district president, Ulhas Bhoir, was seen allegedly slapping an employee of a gaming zone in Thane in a video and threatening him not to let students enter in the school uniform.
The incident comes as he was reportedly upset that some school students stole money from their parents and skipped their school to come to play in the gaming zone, NDTV reported.
Bhuir claimed that some parents reached out to him at his office and complained about their children skipping school and visiting gaming zones instead. 'These children also stole money from their parents to go to the gaming zone," the outlet quoted him as saying.
'Boys come here in their school uniforms. They take money from home. They don't go to school. Isn't this wrong?," he told the employee of the gaming zone.
The employee responded with, 'What can I do?". It angered the MNS leader so much so that he went on to allegedly slap him.
He shouted at the employee that the children 'stole Rs 4,000 from their parents". 'Don't ruin this generation," NDTV quoted him as saying.
Pointing to a student, the MNS leader said that he used to secure 95% when he was in Class 5, but that has now reduced to 60%.
He also issued a 'first and last warning," saying that if children are seen in their school uniforms at the gaming zone again, it will be demolished.
'As soon as we heard the news, we came here. We have explained to them that if a student comes in their school uniform, do not let him in. This is the first and last warning," he said, the outlet reported.
The latest assault came on the heels of recurrent incidents of attacks on various people who allegedly refused to speak in Marathi, dubbed as an insult to the language by the MNS leaders.

Man Hangs Off India's Longest Bridge, Does Pull Ups In Viral Video

Guwahati: A dangerous stunt performed by a young man on India's longest bridge - Dr Bhupen Hazarika Setu (Dhola-Sadiya Bridge) in Assam's Tinsukia district has gone viral on social media. In the video, the man can be seen hanging from the railing of the bridge and then performing pull-ups as others around him record the act with their mobile phones. The act is not only life-threatening but has also become a matter of serious concern in terms of public safety. According to an eyewitness, the stunt was performed by several young men. After the video surfaced, local citizens and social organisations have strongly condemned the act. Locals say such incidents can not only prove fatal for the young man, but also raise questions on the safety of important structures like bridges. They have demanded Tinsukia district administration to take strict action against the man involved in such risky acts. "They should be identified and strict action should be taken against them, so that such incidents can be prevented in future," a local said. However, so far, no official statement has been issued by the local administration or the police. The 9.15 km-long Dhola-Sadiya Bridge was inaugurated in 2017 and is situated over River Lohit in Assam. The Rs 2,056 crore bridge, named after singer Bhupen Hazarika, who hailed from Sadia, is 3.55 km longer than the Bandra-Worli Sea link.

Banke Bihari temple ordinance for administration, not to interfere with religious rights: UP to SC

The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday told the Supreme Court that it did not intend to interfere with any religious rights through the 2025 Shri Banke Bihari Ji Temple Trust Ordinance, Live Law reported. The ordinance, passed earlier this year, allowed the state government to take over the management of the Banke Bihari temple in Mathura district's Vrindavan. It proposed the creation of a statutory trust with several state government officials as ex-officio trustees. The temple has historically been managed privately. A bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi has been hearing petitions against the ordinance. On Monday, the bench questioned the 'tearing hurry' with which the state government had promulgated the law. During the proceedings on Tuesday, Additional Solicitor General KM Nataraj, representing the state government, said that the ordinance would soon be placed before the Assembly for ratification, The Hindu reported. He added that the ordinance was aimed at improving the temple's administration. 'State never intended nor it intends to interfere with any of the religious rights of any of the parties,' Live Law quoted Nataraj as saying. 'It is only with regard to the secular activities, that is, for better administration of temple that ordinance has been issued.' Nataraj also told the bench that the temple gets around 20,000 to 30,000 devotees daily and as many as two to three lakh on weekends. 'There is a requirement for better facilities, better administration,' The Hindu quoted him as saying. 'There has been mismanagement of funds.' Advocate Kapil Sibal, representing the current temple management, objected to the submission that funds were allegedly being mismanaged. 'There was no allegation of mismanagement of funds at any stage,' the newspaper quoted Sibal as saying. After going through a proposal submitted by the state government, the bench listed the matter for Friday to allow the petitioners to give their suggestions in the matter, Live Law reported. It further asked both sides to give their recommendations for the appointment of a retired High Court judge to head a committee to oversee the management of the temple as an interim measure. SC on UP government's 'clandestine' approach On Monday, the bench had criticised the Uttar Pradesh government for acting in a 'clandestine manner' to secure permission to use temple funds for a corridor project through an application in a civil dispute. The court was referring to a May 15 verdict that allowed the government to use temple funds to acquire five acres of land around the temple to develop a corridor that is estimated to cost Rs 500 crore. The Supreme Court had modified a 2023 Allahabad High Court order, which had permitted the corridor's development but barred the use of Rs 262.5 crore from the temple fund. The May 15 permission was granted on the condition that the acquired land be registered in the name of the deity. The bench, on Monday, verbally proposed to recall the directions in the May 15 verdict.
