The 2015 drama marked the acting debut of Vicky Kaushal and the directorial debut of Neeraj Ghaywan. The film also starred Richa Chadda in the lead role. The movie was showcased in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival, where it won two awards.
It was later screened at the first New York Dalit Film and Cultural Festival, along with films like Pariyerum Perumal, Kaala, and Fandry. Since its release, the film has gained cult status and continues to be celebrated for its powerful storytelling.
The story of Masaan revolved around four individuals in Varanasi, each dealing with their own struggles related to love, grief, and social pressures. It followed a low-caste boy in love with an upper-caste girl, a daughter dealing with guilt after a tragic encounter, a father facing moral challenges, and a child longing for a family. Their lives came together along the ghats of the Ganges, as they all tried to break free from the restrictions of their small-town society.
Meanwhile, Vicky Kaushal's most recent appearance was in the historical drama Chhaava, where he portrayed Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The movie was released on February 14, 2025 and went on to become the highest-grossing Indian film of the year, as well as the top-grossing Hindi film of 2025.

Sanjay Dutt Reveals What He Did With Rs 72 Crore Property That Fan Left Him Before Dying

Last Updated: Sanjay Dutt returned a Rs 72 crore inheritance from fan Nisha Patil to her family. It's not every day that someone leaves you property worth Rs 72 crore. However, that's exactly what happened to Sanjay Dutt. The actor recently opened up about this unbelievable moment in his life and revealed that he chose to return the entire inheritance to the fan's family. In a conversation with Curly Tales, Dutt was asked whether it was true that a female fan had bequeathed him the property before passing away in 2018. Confirming the story, he said simply, 'I gave it back to her family." Back in 2018, a devoted fan of Sanjay Dutt, Nisha Patil, made headlines after she left her entire property, worth a massive Rs 72 crore, to the actor. The unexpected gesture left Dutt stunned. Nisha, a 62-year-old homemaker from Mumbai, was reportedly suffering from a terminal illness and had informed her bank to hand over all her assets to Dutt after her death. The actor, who made his debut in 1981 with Rocky, has enjoyed a successful, albeit controversial, career in Hindi cinema. Over the decades, Dutt starred in a range of popular films including Vidhaata, Naam, Saajan, Khal Nayak and Vaastav, cementing his place as one of Bollywood's most charismatic actors. However, his journey was interrupted by legal troubles. He was arrested under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) for possessing illegal weapons linked to the 1993 Bombay blasts. Though eventually acquitted under TADA, he was convicted under the Arms Act and sentenced to five years in prison. He completed his sentence in 2016 after several paroles and furloughs. Dutt made a major comeback with the 2003 blockbuster Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., a film that became a cultural phenomenon. His life story was later adapted into the 2018 film Sanju, directed by longtime collaborator Rajkumar Hirani, with Ranbir Kapoor portraying the actor. Sanju went on to become one of Indian cinema's biggest hits. Currently, Dutt is busy with multiple projects. In 2025 alone, he has five films lined up. The Bhootnii and Housefull 5 have already hit theatres, while Akhanda 2, Dhurandhar, and The RajaSaab are set to release later this year. He is also part of the Kannada film KD – The Devil, which is slated for release in 2026. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. ‘Your Kids Aren't White': American Woman Exposes Hate Faced By Foreigners Married To Indians

Last Updated: Reacting to the woman's post, a user said, 'It's not only India. Mexico, Africa, Asia, and most of the non-White, non-Western world get the same treatment.' It is the 21st century, but we are yet to get rid of social evils like racism. Such prejudicial thoughts are so ingrained in our social fabric that whenever a Westerner is married to an Indian, they have to face limitless offensive remarks. One incident that has come to light is that of an American digital creator who is married to an Indian man. According to her Instagram bio, she has been living in India for 19 years and teaches Hindi. Taking to her Instagram account, she listed down all the shocking comments she has faced ever since she married her Indian husband and moved to India. The woman was seen casually taking a stroll in a narrow lane flanked by shops. The text on her video read: 'Absurd things trolls say to foreigners married to Indians." She then lists all the offensive comments she has received over the years. 'Your husband married you for a green card," 'I feel bad for you that you married a dark-skinned person," 'You destroyed your life by moving to India," 'Too bad your kids aren't white like you," she wrote on the video. In the caption, the American woman further talked about the issue, saying, 'How many of these have you heard or seen online? In promise, this is just a sample of colourism, racism and white skin, western passport worship I see on a daily basis." Here's How The Internet Reacted? Taking to the comments, many social media users have shared their experience with such trolls, and others were disappointed to see how a section of society is still 'racist" even when we are living in 2025. 'So sad that people have such terrible things to say to people just living their life," said one user, whereas another added, 'Always the green card comment for me." 'Yes, people with small minds will say horrible things, and probably have never travelled or experienced other cultures. It's very sad," said a different one. Someone shared how people all over the world face such comments, writing, 'It's not only India. Mexico, Africa, Asia, and most of the non-White, non-Western world get the same treatment. Very sad this is still happening in 2025." Another person gave a solution to the American woman, saying, 'Try sarcasm sometimes, 'unlike you people, I'm not that white-obsessed". Ignore and avoid such people mostly." Since the woman has posted the video on her profile, it has received over 2,00,000 views.
