The day before, the former football ace, 50, left fans shocked when wife Victoria uploaded an Instagram snap of him in hospital after being left in 'unbearable' pain.
A source told MailOnline that David underwent an operation to repair his wrist after breaking it during an England game 22 years ago.
And at the weekend, David looked to be on the mend as he showed off his batch of homegrown vegetables, while also making a cheeky innuendo towards his wife.
In a video shared to the 51-year-old Spice Girl's Instagram stories, which was captioned: 'Over performing on the cucumber front Sir David!', the sportsman could be seen inspecting his impressive garden haul.
Filming her love before zooming in on his sizable produce, Victoria said: 'So this is this weekend's vegetable content. Look, he's overperforming on the cucumber front!'
As she went to question if they were all from their garden, David jumped in, cheekily quipping: 'I'm not sure you could say that darling!'
He then held aloft a large cucumber as Victoria giggled.
It comes after the fashion designer posted a message of support on Instagram as he husband recovered in hospital.
Alongside a snap of her husband, she penned: 'Get well soon daddy.'
A second photo showed David with a bracelet that read: 'Get well soon'.
Former England captain David broke his wrist in May 2003 in a friendly match between England and South Africa in Durban.
Years later, pain and discomfort in the wrist and scans showed that there was a screw embedded in the wrist that was meant to have dissolved.
After being left in 'unbearable' pain, the former footballer had surgery to remove it.
David's hospitalisation comes after his eldest son Brooklyn proved not all family ties have been severed as he shared a sweet birthday tribute to David's mum Sandra on Thursday.
The aspiring chef, 26, took to his Instagram page to acknowledge the celebration despite his recent social media silence on his dad's 50th milestone last month.
Sharing a throwback picture of him and Sandra, he captioned: 'Happy birthday nanny xx love you so much.'
Brooklyn's comment comes amid an ongoing family feud which escalated when he and his wife Nicola Peltz, 30, snubbed David's 50th birthday celebrations last month.
Meanwhile David himself paid a special tribute to his mother as she celebrated her birthday - and ensured absent son Brooklyn got a mention despite their widening rift.
The former Manchester United and England midfielder shared a carousel of photos featuring himself with mum Sandra from childhood to the present day as she turned 76.

Daughter Harper, at 13 too young for social media, was given a hashtag as he ended Thursday morning's tribute.
The post comes in the midst of a growing rift with eldest son Brooklyn and his actress wife Nicola Peltz, who live in the United States.
Sources suggested that Nicola 'very much enjoys' Brooklyn's devotion and that this has been a key factor in the feud with his family.
'He will do anything Nicola wants,' one friend said. 'And that has very much been a thing in the fallout.'

The Lionesses were looking to gather some momentum before they face France in their Euros curtain-raiser next Saturday and were more or less out of sight at the half-time whistle. Ella Toone struck twice from distance either side of Lucy Bronze's header to give England a three-goal lead at the break, but things could have been different if Kayla McKenna's effort for the visitors had not been ruled out by VAR for offside at 1-0. England still had room for more though. Georgia Stanway, Alessia Russo, Aggie Beever-Jones and Beth Mead also got in on the act to give England the perfect send off before they attempt to defend their European crown. As expected, the home side started in dominant fashion and twice came close through Jess Carter and Stanway from outside the box. However, it was not long before England made the breakthrough. The defending European champions showed no mercy, James making an instant impact after coming off the bench and floated an inch-perfect cross for Russo to head home at the far post. England rounded off an easy afternoon in Leicester when Beever-Jones climbed off the bench and poked beyond Brooks before Mead fired home in stoppage time.
