Fair at Nottingham Riverside Festival site scrapped with days to go
The Riverside Festival was first held in 1973 in previous years was billed "the East Midlands' biggest free family festival".A spokesperson for the Mellors Group said: "We're disappointed not to be bringing our fair to the Riverside Festival site this year, particularly after many successful summers on the Embankment. "However, we remain committed to supporting this much-loved event and are hopeful that, working alongside the city council, we can help bring the Riverside Festival back in 2026, restoring it to the scale and spirit that the people of Nottingham know and love."Khan added: "It is extremely disappointing that the commercial operator has taken the decision to not go ahead with a funfair this year, having delivered an event last year over the usual Riverside Festival weekend."Riverside Festival has not taken place in its full format since 2023 – previously the event cost around £75,000 to stage which included fireworks and the boat race – however we recognise that the event benefits residents across the wider county as well as the city, and regrettably in previous years, the county council chose not to contribute towards the event."We are always open to discussions with any other commercial organisations who may be interested in working with the council in the future to add value for all our residents."

‘So embarrassing' rant Love Island fans as they say couple ‘will split in days'
LOVE Island fans are convinced that it's just a matter of days before Lauren and Harrison call it quits after telling clue. The footballer, 22, was embroiled in a controversial love triangle with Lauren and Toni for most of his villa stay, breaking both their hearts along the way. 3 3 After Lauren was dumped, Harrison did some soul-searching and decided to leave to give things a go with her and quit the show. Shortly after Harrison reunited with Lauren and told her that he "wanted her to be his girlfriend" as they hugged in emotional scenes. On last night's finale, host Maya Jama quizzed the pair on whether they were finally boyfriend and girlfriend. Harrison admitted they were still dating but not official yet. When quizzed on their relationship status, Harrison told Maya: "Not yet, we're exclusive. I left the villa to be with Lauren. We are getting on really, really well. "We've both met each other's families. Going really, really well. "Not boyfriend and girlfriend yet but soon." Lauren then looked at Sophie and seemed unimpressed by Harrison's response. But viewers were left scratching their heads after Harrison vowed to make Lauren his girlfriend after - but now appeared to be "backtracking". One wrote: "I just went back and watched their little reunion. He straight up says 'And I want you to be my girlfriend'. I was under the impression the last two weeks that they were boyfriend and girlfriend. Now he's essentially backtracking and saying they're not even exclusive? Where do these two even stand?" A second posted: "Lmao this man is NOT going to commit to her. If he does it'll be out of pressure and it'll implode spectacularly shortly after. You absolutely do not meet someone you like enough to be in a relationship with only to run back to someone else then go back and forwards and act like a f*****g lunatic." Watch Love Island's Harrison roll his eyes and fake clap after ex Toni makes savage dig about him in live final A third commented: "Harrison says a lot of things, he then walks a lot of them back almost as soon as he's said them, we saw him do it for about six weeks on the show, he's not a serious person." "His reaction to Toni and Cach tonight was very telling. i don't think they'll last or even get to that point of being committed to Lauren," a fourth said. After leaving the villa, Harrison said his family would play a big part in whether he and Lauren progresses. Speaking on the Love Island: Morning After podcast, Harrison said: "I feel like we want to get to know each other a little bit more away from the villa. "Obviously the villa's a very secluded environment it's different on the outside so it's nice to get to know each other, go on a few dates without cameras and microphones." Looking cosy beside Lauren, he continued: "For me it was a big thing about her meeting my family before I made anything official. But I left the villa for Lauren and I do think a lot of her. I feel like we'll be boyfriend and girlfriend soon, no doubt." An extra spanner in the works is the fact Harrison is based in Miami, and he isn't sure if he wants to return to the UK permanently just yet. 3

Five off-limit attractions in the UK offering free secret tours – including 10 Downing Street
THERE is nothing more exciting than getting to explore a place where visitors are usually not allowed. Think: Downing Street, the BBC Broadcasting House and the BT Towe 5 And as part of London 's Open House Festival, there are over 700 properties, buildings and places where the public will be welcomed to visit between September 13 and 21. Five of these are offering extremely exclusive limited tours, with a public ballet now open until August 18. According to the Open House Festival website, many of the destinations will be a "be once in a lifetime visit". Here are the five places you can enter the ballot for, as well as what dates you will be able to visit. 10 Downing Street The home of British Prime Ministers since 1735 will open its doors to the public for two sessions on September 13. Guests will get to see behind the famous black door, where some of the most important decisions in UK politics are made. Currently, 10 Downing Street is undergoing some upgrades to its facilities to ensure the historic building is preserved. BBC Broadcasting House We all know the BBC and see content from it daily, but for the Open House Festival people can go to the first ever purpose-built broadcast centre in the UK. It was built back in 1932 and features an art-deco design, including a clock tower. More recently the building was refurbished and extended to create a new broadcasting house. Inside multi-million pound upgrade for popular Scots tourist attraction The building is now home to the largest live newsroom in Europe, right at the centre of the complex. Again, to go to this spot you will need to enter the ballot, with 12, one-hour sessions on September 20. BT Tower When in the depths of London's streets, you can often catch glimpses of the BT Tower. The tower's famous revolving floor sits 158 metres above the streets of the capital. Two high speed lights will transport visitors to the revolving floor in just 30 seconds. Bizarrely, the Tower was classified as an 'official secret' until 1993 despite it being evident in the city's skyline. To see this building, you will also need to enter a ballot for one of 16 tours, each lasting 45 minutes across September 20 and 21. 5 Canada House Canada House is to the Canadian Embassy and was originally designed as two buildings. Just over 10 years ago, the building underwent a large scale revitalisation linking it to the former Sun Life Assurance of Canada building. Inside today, the building houses around 300 pieces of Canadian Art. One tour will run on September 13. London Museum Currently under construction, the public can enter a ballot to go on a tour of the Poultry Market, at the new London Museum. The London Museum is set to open in 2026, bringing new life into the historic Smithfield market buildings. And with this tour, lucky visitors will get a sneak peak ahead of its opening. Six tours will be open to the public on September 20. The museum's permanent galleries are set to open in 2026 and the 1960s Poultry Market will open in 2028. The Poultry Market will eventually house the museum's collection stores and temporary exhibition and learning spaces. 5 New locations for 2025 There are also a number of new destinations part of the festival this year including Studio AVC's offices - which are located in a 1929 shop which used to be Liberty's printing workshop and part of William Morris' Arts and Crafts legacy. Or you could head to The King's Foundation, in Hackney, which is set in a refurbished factory warehouse. And there is the London Film School as well, in a former banana warehouse. For architecture buffs, you can head inside the RIBA House of the Year from 2024. A new £100million indoor resort is also set to open in the UK with a 'next generation waterpark' and thermal spas. Plus, a much-loved UK theme park reveals new rainy day guarantee – with free return after bad weather. 5

Love Islander hits out at ‘red flag' finalist – but fuming fans accuse her of ‘sabotaging star's win'
A FORMER Love Islander has hit out at 'red flag' finalist - ranting to fans 'this guy cannot win'. In a lengthy rant Montana Brown made a series of claims about Harry Cooksley, with just hours before the final last night. 4 4 Her video sparked outrage amongst fans of the ITV2 show, who accused her of 'sabotaging' star's win' him. Harry and Shakira ended up in second place during last night's final, as Cach and Toni beat them to the top spot. Montana 29, who appeared on season 3 of Love Island back in 2017, took to TikTok to share her concern over finalist Harry , questioning his intentions with Shakira Khan. The reality beauty made a shocking revelation when she shared that the footballer was actually seeing one of her close friends just before he entered the villa. Speaking to her followers on TikTok, she said: 'Guys, I've not been involved in the whole Love Island chat, but I know tonight is the final so this is the tea right? 'Harry was literally seeing someone that I knew, one of my good friends, right before he went on Love Island. 'He wrote her a letter and said oh my gosh, like I know you're gonna be like really surprised at this but I still love you and you know we're gonna be together and you know I just need to sort my head out all of this crap. "And now I'm like this guy cannot win, like although I love Shakira from what I've seen of her she's incredible. "So I think we just have to think about let's save Shakira and not let them win because he will just grab the money and run from what we know about him. 'So that's the tea for me. Also he told my friend he was going to Bali like need I say more?' This sent fans into a frenzy questioning Montana's timing of the post right before the Love Island final which took place last night, one user said: 'This is so unfair you're sabotaging Shakira.' Toe-curling moment Love Island host Maya Jama is met with silence as she backs Shakira and Harry as devastated Helen watches on Another added: 'I kinda agree but I'm not sure how fair it is for you to influence the vote like this diva.' 'This is clear Sabotage !' penned a third. 'I mean why is Montana saying all this the day of the final? She could have said this literally 2 months ago...' chimed a fourth. In the end it was Toni and Cach who took home the Love Island crown in a tense public vote against Harry and Shakira. Aside from Shakira, Harry also had a long-running connection with Helena Ford. The pair hooked up in the Hideaway after just 56 hours in the villa - despite not being coupled up at the time. They were coupled up twice throughout the series - but their relationship ultimately came to an explosive end. Harry eventually decided that Shakira was the girl for him but this had left fans divided over whether they should have voted for the pair in the finale. 4
