MLA wants Chandgad's inclusion in Shaktipeeth project

has advocated for the inclusion of Chandgad tehsil in the initiative.
Patil met with Anil Kumar Gaikwad, the vice-chairman and managing director of the Road Development Corporation, in Mumbai and presented four route options. These options propose that the Shaktipeeth highway be directed through Chandgad towards Patra Devi in Sindhudurg.
Patil said routing the highway through Chandgad, Ajara, and Gadhinglaj tehsils would enhance tourism and create employment opportunities.
"The Shaktipeeth route passing through 12 districts of the state will connect important temples. It will benefit the development of that region. The Chandgad region also has many ancient temples, forts, and natural places. If the Chandgad, Gadhinglaj, and Ajra regions become part of this route, it will boost tourism and increase employment and industry.
"
The four suggested routes are:
1) Sankeshwar-Hitni-Samangad-Masevadi-Waghrali-Sambre-Mugli-Naganwadi-Asgaon-Koraj-Kokare-Jambre-Isapur-Pargad-Goa
2) Sankeshwar-Hitni-Samangad-Masevadi-Waghrali-Sambre-Mugli-Vargaon-Gudewadi-Hallarwadi-Nandavade-Motanwadi Phata onwards to Goa
3) Pune-Bengaluru National Highway Rajgoli Khurd-Kitwad-Hosur-Bukkihal-Mahipalgad-Devarwadi-Shinoli-Dhekoli-Tudaye-Mhalunge-Kolik-Kankumbi-Goa
4) Gargoti-Pimpalgaon-Madilge-Ajra-Chitale-Ibrahimpur-Naganwadi-Asgaon-Kokare-Jambre-Isapur to Goa.

Maharashtra: 767 farmers died by suicide in first three months of 2025
The Maharashtra government on Tuesday said that 767 farmers died by suicide in the state between January and March this year, The Indian Express reported. Of these cases, 373 families were found eligible for financial compensation, while 200 were declared ineligible, state Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Makarand Patil said in a written reply to a question in the Legislative Council about farmer suicides. The inquiry in the remaining 194 cases was pending, Patil said. The minister stated that financial aid of Rs 1 lakh each had been given to the families of 327 eligible farmers, and efforts were being made to complete the compensation process in the remaining cases. All divisional commissioners had been directed to clear the dues quickly, he added. The minister was replying to a question raised by Opposition Congress MLCs Pradnya Rajeev Satav, Satej Patil and Bhai Jagtap about delays in compensation and the rising number of farmer suicides in the state, Deccan Chronicle reported. In 2024, Maharashtra saw 2,635 farmers die by suicide, while this number stood at 2,851 in 2023, Deccan Chronicle reported. Since 2001, Maharashtra has recorded 39,825 farmer suicides, according to The Times of India. Of these, 22,193 were related to the agrarian crisis in the state.

Asia Cup 2025 schedule finalised, India vs Pakistan clash set for 7 September: Report
The wait for Asia Cup could be coming to an end soon as all the participating nations, includin hosts India, are likely to get clearances from their respective governments soon, according to a report in the Times of India. Reportedly, all matches of the upcoming tournament will be played in UAE and the tournament will kick off from 5 September. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and UAE will be the six nations participating in the upcoming tournament which will be played in the group stage and Super Fours format. This would mean that the high octane India vs Pakistan will be played at least two times in the tournament with the second clash set to be played on 14 September. The Asia Cup will be played in T20I format and the penutimate clash will played on 21 September. Reportedly, the promotional activities for the tournament have already begun with official broadcasters Sony recently sharing a poster for the multi-nation tournament. Notably, there were question marks about the tournament especially after the recent escalation in tensions between India and Pakistan in the wake of Operation Sindoor. However, if Asia Cup continues as planned it would send a message for all future international tournaments as well. Earlier this year, there were reports that India may pull out of Asia Cup due to the cross border tensions but BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia had refuted those claims in a statement in May. He said, "Since this morning, it has come to our notice about some news items about BCCI's decision not to participate in the Asia Cup and Women's Emerging Teams Asia Cup, both ACC events. Such news is devoid of any truth as till now, the BCCI has not even discussed or taken any such steps regarding the ensuing ACC events, leave alone writing anything to the ACC,"

TSPSC Group I exam controversy: Pre-printed hall tickets and Centre irregularities alleged; Telangana HC resumes hearing
HYDERABAD: The Telangana high court on Tuesday resumed detailed arguments in the ongoing case challenging the conduct of the Group I Mains examination held by the Telangana State Public Service Commission. The case, filed by multiple candidates, alleges manipulation and favouritism in the exam process. Appearing before Justice Namavarapu Rajeshwar Rao, the petitioners' counsels alleged that key elements such as hall ticket numbers, examination centres, invigilators and evaluators had been predetermined for certain "favoured" candidates. Particular concern was raised about centres 18 and 19, which produced 14.8% of the qualified candidates. "Neighbouring centres recorded minimal or even zero qualifying percentages," one counsel noted, implying manipulation in centre allocation and evaluation. The petitioners claimed that, despite being justified by the TSPSC as being for 'administrative convenience,' this move violated its own notification and allowed room for targeted favouritism. The HC has scheduled further arguments on Wednesday, indicating close judicial scrutiny of one of the state's most prestigious public recruitment exams.
