Natalie Portman reveals why she prefers living in Paris with her kids over Los Angeles: ‘Very good at privacy'
The 'Black Swan' actress, who moved to Paris in 2014, revealed she loves living in a European city that's bustling but has a culture that's polite and 'very good at privacy.'
'Even when it's cold and gray, there's always some incredible exhibit or concert or dinner party or writers in town; something fascinating and stimulating happening… and the frequent vacations are so clutch!' Portman told fashion outlet Net-a-Porter on Monday.

Portman, 43, pushed back on a stereotype about how French residents are rude, pointing out the 'weird' social differences between the US and France.
'I find the people here are actually incredibly friendly – you just have to know how to interact, so that we're not the ones being rude,' Portman said. 'Now, when I go back to the US, I'm like, oh, I would go into a store and not say hello to everyone there? It's weird.'
The 'V for Vendetta' star insisted that cultural differences do not equal rudeness.
'I think we have an assumption that Western cultures are all the same, and kind of evened out by all this pop culture that everyone consumes,' Portman claimed. 'It's not true: it's extremely specific here.'
In 2014, Portman ditched Los Angeles and moved to Paris alongside her then-husband Benjamin Millepied, whom she met when he was a choreographer and dancer on the set of 'Black Swan.'
The Oscar winner shares two children, Aleph,13, and Amalia, 8, with Millepied.

But the couple ended up calling it quits and finalized their divorce in March 2024 after Millepied had an alleged affair with a 25-year-old climate activist named Camille Étienne.
The actress is now reportedly dating French musician Tanguy Destable.
Portman stayed in France following the breakup with Millepied and praised how parents raise kids in France.
'All the kids that come to my house are, like, 'bonjour Madame' – and give me the bise [cheek-to-cheek kiss],' Portman told the outlet. 'And before they leave, they are, like, 'thank you for having me' – and if I'm not nearby, they'll come and find me to say it.'

Portman was born in Jerusalem, Israel, and rose to fame as a teenage star acting in films like 'Heat,' 'Mars Attacks' and 'Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.'
She's not the only star who ditched the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles for a better family life.
In 2014, Matthew McConaughey and his wife, Camila Alves, planted their roots in Austin, Texas.

The 'Interstellar' actor, who was born and raised in the Lone Star State, said he always planned to return and raise a family and to be closer to his mother and two older brothers, who also live in Texas.
'I wanted them to have what I grew up around… There's a solid… amount of common sense that runs through it, it's untalked about, but we understand it here,' McConaughey told 'Today' in 2014.
'Stranger Things' actress Millie Bobby Brown swapped Hollywood for farm life in rural Georgia with her husband Jake Bongiovi, the son of singer Jon Bon Jovi.
The couple tied the knot in May 2024 and Brown insisted that she loved the lifestyle during a March 2025 interview with Vanity Fair, but added that the country life is not easy.
'If you're not picking up horse s–t or washing a cow with your bare hands, then that life is not made for you. At all,' she told the outlet.

11 Ways To Wear Silver Nails — Winter's Coolest Shade
All linked products are independently selected by our editors. If you purchase any of these products, we may earn a commission. There's something about a silver manicure that, for me, has always screamed winter. And thanks to a recent viral 10-minute TikTok video by creator Amanda Sujin, in which she swatches all of her favourite silver nail polishes, I've become certifiably obsessed with the different ways you can style a silver manicure. 'It's neutral and so cool,' insists Amanda, and, honestly, I couldn't agree more. You see, silver nails are surprisingly versatile. Want to make a statement? Opt for a metallic chrome effect with a glass-like shine. Into more of a minimalist vibe? A pearlescent silver with a touch of shimmer adds a subtle glow to nails. Even better, silver nails play well with everything: from an oversized coat and boots to a cosy jumper — a silver manicure is pleasingly neutral. Chelsea stunningly routs PSG in final to win FIFA Club World Cup
Blue is the color, football is the game, and now Chelsea can add FIFA Club World Cup champion to their name. Chelsea stunned European champion Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final in a 3-0 victory, capping the first year of the newly formatted tournament in front of a crowd of 81,118 at MetLife Stadium. The largely pro-Chelsea crowd erupted when the game ended and the club's signature 'Blue is the Colour' song blared throughout the stadium. AFP via Getty Images The surprise victory came amid a dominant run by PSG during the length of the tournament, which included wins over Atlético Madrid, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid as they paved their way to the final. But it was the foot of star Cole Palmer that gave Chelsea the lead and breakout star João Pedro who scored his third goal of the tournament to put the game away before the first half even came to an end. Palmer came within inches of scoring in the eighth minute when his shot sailed just to the right of the post, but redeemed himself with an impressive goal in the 22nd minute, finessing the ball past PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma into the corner of the net. In the 30th minute, the Chelsea star received a good lead pass and then showed off why he's one of the club's best players, moving the ball to the top of the box to score in the same spot as his first goal. Advertisement Pedro extended the Chelsea lead to three when he chipped the ball past Donnarumma from in front of the net after Palmer helped set up the play with a crisp pass up to Pedro in the box. By the time the halftime whistle sounded, the already raucous Chelsea fans were ecstatic, chanting and partying inside the MetLife Stadium concourse while an American-style halftime show took place, which included J Balvin, Doja Cat and a surprise appearance by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. 3 Joao Pedro celebrates after scoring during the Chelsea-PSG Club World Cub final on July 13, 2025. Getty Images Advertisement The Club World Cup showdown marked the first competitive match between Chelsea and PSG since 2016 and prior to Sunday's win, Chelsea had been victorious only two other times against the French powerhouse in the 10 matches the two clubs have played against one another. No matter where you are in the world, you can watch the FIFA Club World Cup for free on DAZN. All you need to get started is an email address. No subscription is required, but you will have to make a free account on the streamer to start watching. DAZN also has premium, paid options available to enhance your viewing experience with HDR picture, Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound, and fewer ads. DAZN Premium plans begin at $19.99/month. The match featured plenty of chippiness as PSG midfielder João Neves was given a red card for pulling the hair of Chelsea's Marc Cucurella in the second half. After the game, a brief shoving match occurred and several players had to be separated before the trophy ceremony. Advertisement The newly revamped tournament ended in a way that FIFA had to have liked, with a lively atmosphere for most of the afternoon and a star-studded guest list of VIPs in the stands that included President Donald Trump. 3 Chelsea players celebrate after winning the Club World Cup on Jul 13, 2025. Getty Images Now the full focus turns to the 2026 World Cup that is being jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada, with the global event ending nearly a year from Sunday at MetLife Stadium. One of the lasting takeaways from the Club World Cup that could impact the operations of next year's World Cup was how hot things can be on matchdays. Sunday's final was played in temperatures in the high 80s and matches earlier in the tournament had been played in 90-degree temps. 'Every criticism we receive is a source for us to study and analyse what can do better,' Infantino told reporters the day before the Club World Cup final. 'Of course the heat is an issue. Last year, at the Olympic Games in Paris, games during the day, in all sports, took place in very hot conditions. Cooling breaks are very important and we will see what we can do, but we have stadiums with roofs and we will definitely use these stadiums during the day next year.'

Sophie Lou Jacobsen Unveils Le Verre Bonbon Glassware Collection
French-American designerSophie Lou Jacobsenwants to bring poetry to everyday life with her whimsical glassware. The designer's latest collection Le Verre Bonbon, expands upon her popular Bouquet line, drawing its forms from the delicate natural shapes of blooming flowers. With their glossy, clear materiality and naturalistic texture, the glass vessels, including the Pitcher, Small Bowl, and striped cups, elevate life's quiet moments and joyful gatherings. The Pitcher leads the range with its delicately coiled handle and gently rippled body, ideal for serving cool drinks at Summer evening dinners or Sunday brunches. Designed with a gently curving silhouette in clear glass, the piece mirrors the organic fluidity of fan-shaped blooms. Additionally, the Small Bowl follows a similar sensibility with its softly rippled rim. Boasting a low profile and compact size, the bowl enhances the role of sides like soups, side salads, or shared dips with elegant appeal. Finally, the glasses offer a colorful accent of the largely clear range.
