Kota Kinabalu: A 58-year-old man was fined a total of RM21,000 for two counts of using electricity that bypasses the meter terminals, causing the Sabah Electricity to undercharge and incur losses. Voo Hen Sang @ Tonny pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan, to both charges against him, Monday. On the first count, Voo was fined RM1,000 or 14 days' jail for dishonestly using electricity through the installation of a black bypass cable connected to the terminal of meter number 99178340 on the red phase. On the second count, he was ordered to pay another RM20,000 fine or spend five months in prison for fraudulently using electricity through the installation of a blue bypass cable connected to the terminal of meter number 98992844 on the red and blue phases. The charges stated the offences committed by Voo had caused the Sabah Electricity to undercharge and incur losses. He committed the offences on Feb 24, this year, at 4.40pm and 8pm at Kg Kauluan in Tamparuli.

60,000 enthusiasts expected at Sabah Moto Day

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Moto Day (SMD) 8.0 is set for August 16–17 at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and aims to attract at least 60,000 motorcycle enthusiasts from the state and beyond, including Brunei, Sarawak and Labuan. The event, organised by Kelab Dua Roda Bersatu in collaboration with the Anti-Drug Squad (Skuad Antidadah), emphasises youth engagement, anti-drug awareness and enhanced safety protocols. Cops launch dual investigations into death of toddler who fell into Sibu drain
ACP Zulkipli Suhaili SIBU (Aug 6): Police have launched two separate investigations into the death of a two-year-old boy who is believe to have fallen into a roadside drain along Jalan Dr Wong Soon Kai here on Monday night. Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said one investigation is being conducted under Section 3(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, for neglect or exposing a child in a manner likely to cause physical or emotional injury, while the second is classified as a sudden death report (SDR). 'Those found guilty under Section 3(1)(a) may face a fine of up to RM20,000, imprisonment of up to 10 years, or both,' he said in a statement yesterday. According to Zulkipli, police received a report from a medical officer at Sibu Hospital at 11.09pm regarding the incident. 'The victim's body was retrieved from the drain by firefighters and sent to Sibu Hospital. He was found wet, pale, and showing no signs of life upon arrival at the Emergency Unit, where he was later confirmed dead,' he said. He added that investigations are ongoing to identify any parties involved. Couple killed after car crashed into a tree at Kinabatangan

KINABATANGAN: A man and his wife were killed when the vehicle they were travelling in skidded and crashed into a tree at KM121 near Masjid Takala in Kampung Paris 1, here, Monday. The victims, aged 34, were passengers in the vehicle with another friend who was driving. The group was heading towards Kota Kinabalu from Lahad Datu when the 12.30pm accident happened. Advertisement The impact left all three seriously injured and they were rushed to the Kinabatangan Hospital. However, the man and his wife were pronounced dead at the hospital that same evening. Kinabatangan District Police Chief Supt Rabu Duraisamy said the case is being probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
