Malaysia's first female K-pop idol Alicia Wong Lingling has finally made her industry debut recently, with the release of her group KIIRAS' first single. On May 29, its agency Leanbranding officially released the music video for Kill Ma Bo$$, which is currently racking up 262,151 views and over 28,000 likes on YouTube. It has also received positive reviews for its fresh Americana and Country R&B concept, riding at the back of the popular musical trend. With an overdriven guitar line at the background, the song is a fierce, playful anthem about taking control, breaking free from authority, and owning one's power with confidence, charm, and a rebellious killer attitude. Taking centre stage was none other than group leader Lingling, donning a denim vest, cowboy hat and riding a horse. She radiates youthful charm and lively energy, while alongside her, KIIRAS members captivate viewers with dynamic choreography and colourful styling. A promotional video was uploaded weeks prior, which featured singer-actor Eum Moon-suk and Seo In-guk, whom K-drama fans might recognise from Death's Game (2023) or the South Korean reality-documentary show Law of the Jungle. The official teaser for the music video was released shortly after, further building anticipation ahead of the full release. The music video was supposed to be a pre-release, but it changed to a debut, and it continues to gain views and spark conversations on social media, as fans eagerly await what's next for this newly formed six-member girl group. What followed was far from simple — Murabe, a grandmother with zero gaming experience, powered through the competition to become Japan's newest esports champion. 'I was happy to win,' Murabe told Tokyo Weekender following her unexpected victory. For Murabe, the experience of picking up a controller for the first time — and finding joy and success — was transformational. 'The response was bigger than anything we've done before,' said Hama. And it wasn't just about gameplay. Many seniors found emotional engagement, focus and confidence through gaming — even those living with cognitive decline. Murabe's story has become the face of a growing movement. As a grandmother competing in a world typically dominated by younger generations, she's proving that age is no barrier to having fun — or winning big. Hama hopes to expand the programme to include other accessible games like GeoGuessr , while continuing to host both modern and traditional tournaments. 'We've realised seniors are better at video games than we assumed,' he said. Blackpink makes history as first K-pop group to top Spotify's global weekly chart twice

SEOUL: Blackpink has made K-pop history once again, becoming the first K-pop group to top Spotify's Global Weekly Top Songs chart twice, with their latest single "Jump" reinforcing the quartet's status as a global pop powerhouse. According to YG Entertainment on Saturday, 'Jump' reached No. 1 on the global weekly chart dated Thursday (July 17), following their previous chart-topper 'Shut Down' from their 2022 studio album 'Born Pink.' Blackpink now holds the record for both the first and the most No. 1 entries on the chart by any K-pop group. The song's streaming performance was equally notable. 'Jump' garnered 44,759,923 streams in just one week — the biggest debut for any track released in 2025 so far. Astronomer CEO resigns after viral kiss cam video

WASHINGTON: The CEO of the technology firm Astronomer Inc. has resigned after being caught canoodling on camera at a rock concert with a woman who was not his wife, the company said on Saturday. The company posted a written statement on its LinkedIn profile stating that its leaders "are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met." Advertisement The statement said that Andy Byron had offered his resignation as CEO and that the board of directors had accepted it. Byron had been placed on leave on Friday, and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy is serving as the interim CEO. Byron and Astronomer's chief people officer Kristin Cabot were caught on camera at the Coldplay concert on Wednesday in Massachusetts in an awkward clip that quickly went viral.
