Get ready for indoor half marathon in Dubai next month
Organised by Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) in collaboration with Dubai Sports Council (DSC), the 2025 edition will run daily from 8 am to midnight from August 3 to September 2, spanning over 25,000 square metres and featuring over 40 courts and pitches.
Sports on offer for 2025 include badminton, basketball, cricket, football, padel, tennis, table tennis, volleyball and pickleball, complemented by state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities. This season, DSW also brings back its free, open-access gym, featuring advanced cardio machines, functional training rigs, and strength zones.
The expanded Dubai Kids World features multi-story inflatable slides and soft play obstacle courses as well as dedicated fun zones with retro arcade games, enabling parents to take part in their favourite sports and fitness activities while their kids have supervised fun and stay active.
Visitors can hit the ground running at the August Edition opening day with the DSW Run IN – Dubai's first-ever indoor half marathon, on Sunday, (August 3). Set in a fully climate-controlled environment, the race promises a unique experience for runners, complete with professional timing and cheering zones.
The DSW Summer League on Saturday, (August 23) brings together the best workplace teams in the UAE for an inter-company sports showdown featuring high-energy games and corporate team building at its finest.
Geared towards Dubai residents and visitors staying in the city during the summer break, the August Edition offers high-impact, quality programming throughout the month. With nine sports academies providing world-class coaching, DSW continues to nurture the next generation of athletes. From academy-led training sessions to court bookings and kids' activities, seamless booking is available through the Dubai Sports World app with real-time slot tracking and QR code check-in.

New Al Nassr manager Jorge Jesus: Without Cristiano Ronaldo, I would not be here
Al Nassr have confirmed the appointment of Jorge Jesus as manager less than three months after the Portuguese left their bitter Riyadh rivals Al Hilal. Jesus has signed a one-year contract with the Saudi Pro League club and will be linking up with veteran attacker Cristiano Ronaldo, who agreed a two-year extension with Nassr in June. And the 70-year has revealed that his countryman played a pivotal role in him becoming Nassr's new coach. "Without Cristiano Ronaldo, I certainly wouldn't be there," said Jesus. "The motivation is high. Al Nassr needs to win titles, just like Cristiano Ronaldo, who has always won everything at the clubs he's played for. "He hasn't won practically anything at this one yet, so I'll see if I can help him. We speak the same language, so it will be easy. I couldn't turn down the challenge Cristiano gave me. "I love being in Saudi Arabia; it's the country of the future, in football and beyond. We're delighted to return. I've always been very happy. I've always won, and now I'm going to try to do it again." He becomes the fifth Al Nassr coach since Ronaldo's arrival at the end of 2022 after Frenchman Rudi Garcia, Croatian Dinko Jelicic, countryman Luis Castro and Italy's Stefano Pioli. Previous coach Pioli's brief spell in charge ended last month with the Italian heading back to Serie A to take over as Fiorentina manager. Pioli, who was named Serie A coach of the year with AC Milan in 2022, could not guide Ronaldo and Nassr to the first major trophy of the Portuguese striker's spell in the kingdom and his reign lasted less than nine months after replacing Castro. "Thanks for everything," Ronaldo wrote in a message on social media following the news of Pioli's exit. The club would finish third in the SPL, 13 points behind champions Al Ittihad and five shy of second-placed Al Hilal, despite Ronaldo again finishing top of the scoring charts with 25 goals. Al Nassr's AFC Champions League Elite dreams were ended by Kawasaki Frontale at the semi-final stage, with the Japanese side winning 3-2 in Jeddah. Kawasaki would go on to lose against Nassr's SPL rivals Al Ahli in the final. Jesus, meanwhile, saw his second spell as Al Hilal coach come to an end after their reign as SPL champions was ended by Al Ittihad while they were knocked out of the Asian Champions League in the semi-finals 3-1 by eventual winners Al Ahli. They did triumph in the Saudi Super Cup against Al Nassr, though, despite Ronaldo putting his team into an early lead as Hilal roared back with goals from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Malcom either side of an Aleksandar Mitrovic double to seal a 4-1 battering. The 2023-24 season had been a record-breaking one for Jesus and Hilal as they secured a fourth SLP title in five years, as well as embarking on a remarkable run of 34 consecutive victories across all competitions. The streak was ended by UAE side Al Ain in the Asian Champions League last four with the Garden City club going on to win the competition. Hilal also won the King's Cup that season, again beating Nassr in the final via a penalty shoot-out, a loss that left Ronaldo in tears after the match. But Jesus could not repeat that success the following campaign and left Hilal by mutual consent, meaning he missed out on leading the team at the Fifa Club World Cup. The veteran coach had been linked with the Brazil job before the Selecao appointed Carlo Ancelotti, but instead returns to Saudi Arabia with Al Nassr. As well as Ronaldo, Jesus will have at his disposal the likes of former Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte, ex-Porto attacking midfielder Otavio and forward Sadio Mane, who won the Fifa Club World Cup and Uefa Champions League with Liverpool. Tour de France 2025: Tadej Pogacar still on course for fourth title despite rollercoaster race so far
Despite going into the 2025 Tour de France's first rest day having relinquished control of the leader's yellow jersey, Tadej Pogacar remains well placed in his quest for a fourth title. The UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider ended Stage 10 just 29 seconds behind the new overall leader, EF Education-EasyPost's Ben Healy, who became the first Irishman to claim yellow in 38 years after Monday's trek across eight gruelling hills in the Massif Central. Remco Evenepoel sits third, one minute further back, with the Belgian 17 seconds ahead of Pogacar's old rival and two-time champion Jonas Vingegaard, who is fourth. It has been a rollercoaster race already for Pogacar, who has won two stages – taking his career victories past the century marker – but also lost the services of key lieutenant Joao Almeida to injury while another teammate, Pavel Sivakov, has been struggling with illness. The opening stage saw Jasper Philipsen power to victory with Pogacar safely in the pack. On Stage 2 the Slovenian superstar was edged out of a 100th career win by Mathieu Van der Poel in a sprint finish. But it would not be long until the 26-year-old had reached that impressive landmark as, after avoiding damage on a chaotic, crash-filled Stage 3, Pogacar triumphed the following day. It was a stunning sprint to victory as the 2024 triple crown winner held off the considerable challenge of both Van der Poel and Vingegaard. 'To win at the Tour is incredible, in this jersey even more, and to have 100 victories is amazing,' said Pogacar afterwards. 'With so many good riders in the final, you're always a bit on the edge and nervous about what's going to happen.' It was time-trial time on Stage 5, with all eyes on cycling's big three – Pogacar, Evenepoel, and Vingegaard. Evenepoel – world and Olympic champion in the discipline – was the favourite and lived up to the billing, storming to a stunning win. But Pogacar produced an impressive performance of his own to take second place, and the yellow jersey. More importantly, he took a lead of over a minute on Vingegaard, landing an early blow in the title battle. The result also meant Pogacar became the first rider to wear the yellow, green and polka dot jerseys at this stage in the Tour since Belgium great Eddy Merckx in 1970. Stage 6 offered brief respite as the breakaway took the spoils, with Healy claiming a memorable first Tour de France win, with Van der Poel snatching back yellow, albeit with only a one-second lead on Pogacar. It proved a temporary setback with Pogacar triumphing again on Stage 7, reclaiming the overall lead from the Dutchman on the Mur-de-Bretagne climb. 'Me and Mathieu both know this finish very well,' said Pogacar. 'We both wanted to win on this iconic climb, but I think maybe yesterday he left too much on the road, so we couldn't have a rematch." The day would end badly for UAE Team Emirates-XRG, as Almeida, a key mountain lieutenant, suffered a broken rib after a nasty crash having come in 10 minutes after Pogacar and would be forced to quit two days later. 'He could have done great things on a personal level here, and of course, he would have been a great help in the mountains, both mentally and physically. Now we'll adapt and continue,' Pogacar said of his teammate Almeida after Stage 9, which had seen him maintain a 54-second lead over Evenepoel. 'It was too much to bear and I think everybody understands and wishes him all the best.' Stage 10 fell on Bastille Day and ended with Giro d'Italia winner Simon Yates taking the honours while Healy grabbed yellow. Pogacar would cross the line safely alongside Vingegaard with the lead – and title – still very much in his sights. 'Of course, it's never easy to lose the yellow jersey. However, we lost Joao Almeida yesterday, and Pavel Sivakov is still recovering from his illness,' said Pogacar. 'The goal was not to let Visma attack us or to defend their attacks. We did a great job, but now it's a day off.' The riders will be back in action on Wednesday with a 156.8km route around Toulouse that is expected to end in a bunch sprint.
