Nothing Phone (3) hands-on
Let's start with the back, since it's always been a key area on Nothing devices. Phone (3) brings a polarizing look, to say the least. Nothing went with a three-column grid look with an off-centered periscope zoom camera sticking out on the top-right corner. It's different from what we've seen on past devices from the brand and it certainly stands out from the crowd of competitors.
Nothing Phone (3) and its Glyph Matrix
The big addition this year is the Glyph Matrix. The signature Nothing Phone glyph interface is now shrunk to a monochrome display made up of 489 LEDs.
It does more than just notifications as you can assign custom images, animations and app-specific messages. There's even a pair of games - Spin the Bottle, Rock Paper Scissors and Magic 8 Ball. Nothing is releasing its developer SDK today so we'll see even more clever ideas here.
There's a dedicated Glyph Button – a capacitive circle located beneath the Glyph Matrix. It gives off a vibration and allows you to scroll through the different modes and features.
Moving on, Nothing upgraded the cameras, bringing four 50MP shooters. The back houses a 1/1.3" main sensor with OIS alongside a 3x periscope zoom module and a 114˚ ultrawide lens. You also get a 50MP selfie cam.
The front is dominated by a 6.67-inch AMOLED – same size as the Phone (2) but with slimmer bezels. It's advertised to reach 4,500 nits of peak local brightness and features FHD+ resolution, along with an adaptive 30-120Hz refresh rate.
The hardware feels familiar to past Nothing phones. The frame is made from aluminum, the back features Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, while the screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i. Also noteworthy is the upgraded IP68 ingress protection, which is a first for any Nothing phone.

A few quick words on the software. We're running Nothing OS 3.5 based on Android 15. It's as smooth and minimalistic-looking as ever, and Nothing confirmed we'll see Nothing OS 4 later this quarter.
The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset and 5,150 mAh silicon carbon battery are worthy upgrades over the Phone (2) and should deliver ample performance and hopefully better endurance. As usual, we'll bring you a detailed review with all of our tests once we have our review unit back at HQ.

Here's when the Android 16-based Nothing OS 4.0 is coming
Nothing unveiled the Nothing Phone (3) yesterday as its first true flagship, and it comes with the promise of five years of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. However, despite the stable release of Android 16 by Google, the Nothing Phone (3) boots Nothing OS 3.5, which is based on Android 15. While Nothing hasn't provided a specific release date for Android 16 for its smartphones, it has revealed the timeframe for its rollout. During yesterday's launch, Carl Pei, Founder and CEO of Nothing, revealed that Nothing OS 4.0, based on Android 16, is coming "later this autumn." It's safe to say that the Nothing Phone (3) will be the first in line to receive Nothing OS 4.0, with the rollout expanding to older models later. The Nothing Phone (3) will be available for pre-order starting July 4, with sales commencing on July 15. The Honor Magic V5 is here – that's the successor to the incredibly cool and potent Magic V3 (yes, in China, the number four is often avoided at all costs due to cultural concerns) – and we once again have a champion at our the thinnest foldable on planet Earth, its creators say, but only if you get it in a special white color that slims down its profile. Other colors add to its profile, thus depriving the Honor Magic V5 of its "thinnest foldable" crown – in other words, the spell is broken if you get in black. Pretty fascinating, right? Today, we have another foldable bijou to marvel at – and it could be very well the case that many won't bother to watch (or attend) the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9. I haven't laid a finger on it yet, but it looks like the V5 will compete in the high-end foldable smartphone segment white color option seems like a pretty special finish – thanks to it, the phone slims down to an 8.8mm-thin body (folded) and weighs as little as 217 grams. Other color options are listed to render the phone to over 9mm (when folded). 8.8mm is great, and it's just 0.1mm thinner than the Oppo Find N5, a.k.a. "The foldable king" which arrived some months ago at 8.9mm in its folded state. This year's Galaxy Z Fold 7 by Samsung will also be super thin (judging from rumors), but thickness doesn't tell the whole story. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 might have shockingly low ~4,400mAh (or less) battery inside. Meanwhile, the V5 is miles ahead. Image by Honor One of the standout features of Magic V5 is its 6,100mAh Qinghai Lake Blade battery. This battery uses advanced silicon-carbon composite materials with more than 25% silicon content, allowing for a higher energy density without compromising the device's thinness. This means users can expect full-day performance, even with the larger screen unfolded. On the display front , both the inner and outer screens support a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and ultra-high-frequency 4320Hz PWM dimming, which significantly reduces screen flicker and eye strain. The display also supports a wide DCI-P3 color gamut for vibrant visuals. In terms of software intelligence , the Magic V5 is equipped with several AI-powered features. These include an AI motion sickness reduction mode, which combines display adjustments and motion effects to alleviate discomfort for sensitive users. It also features Honor's YOYO assistant, which boasts enhanced memory, logic processing, and cross-device capabilities – helping users with tasks such as multitasking, file sharing, and even coordinating services across different platforms. It uses a dedicated chipset voltage regulation chip and a self-developed E2 energy efficiency chip, enabling extended performance even under heavy use. Durability is also a major focus. The phone incorporates Honor's Luban shock-absorbing structure with precision manufacturing, steel hinges for high-frequency folding, and IP58/IP59 protection against dust and water. These make the Magic V5 not just stylish, but durable – and personally, I like "durable" very much, when it comes to foldables. So, the world is once again toying with the world's thinnest foldable. Honor Magic V5 is official - even slimmer body, bigger battery and better camera
The Honor Magic V5 is official and it's the thinnest foldable! Honor skipped the V4 but didn't skimp on upgrades. Visually, the Magic V5 looks very similar to its predecessor, which is no bad thing. However, upon closer inspection, you can see that the frame is now flatter, supposedly for easier handling. While the V3 was already an impressive device, the Magic V5 brings improvements across the board. It is thinner, lighter, and better protected against the elements. Folded, the Magic V5 is only 8.8mm thick. It's down to 4.1mm/4.2mm unfolded depending on the color you pick and weighs just 217g/222g (Ivory White is the slimmer and lighter color, while Black, Dawn Gold, Reddish Brown hit the higher figures). While the Magic V3 had an IPX8 rating, the Magic V5 is IP58 and IP59 rated, improving on the water protection and adding dust resistance. The biggest upgrade, literally, is a 12% increase in battery capacity. The old 5,150mAh is now a 6,100mAh silicon-carbon power pack in China and 5,820mAh overseas. It boasts the same 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The displays are nearly identical, specs-wise. The cover screen is a 6.43-inch 2376x1060px 120Hz LTPO OLED with a peak brightness of 5,000 nits. Inside is a 7.95-inch 2352x2172px 120Hz LTPO OLED with the same peak brightness. The cover screen is protected by Honor's Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield, while the folding one is Honor's Super Armored Inner Screen. Honor Magic V5 Let's talk cameras. There's a 50MP f/1.6 wide-angle camera, a new 50MP f/2.0 ultrawide (up from a 40MP unit), and a new 70mm f/2.5 telephoto with a 64MP 1/2.0-inch sensor (up from 1/2.51-inch). For selfies, there are two 20MP f/2.2 cameras on each display. The Honor Magic V5 packs the very latest Snapdragon 8 Elite and ships in three configurations - 12/256GB, 16/512GB, and 16GB/1TB - and in four colors - Ivory White, Black, Dawn Gold, and Reddish Brown. Prices are CNY 8,999 ($1,255/€1,070/£923/INR 107,500), CNY 9,999 ($1,400/€1,186/£1,025/INR 119,500), and CNY 10,999 ($1,535/€1,300/£1,128/INR 131,400), respectively.
