Comedian Sandra Bernhard panics audience with 'heart attack' on stage
During her debut performance, the 69-year-old comedian — who once counted Madonna as a close friend — revealed to the audience she recently had open-heart surgery.
'It was a planned surgery; it wasn't that dramatic,' the actress noted before mentioning other patients in the hospital who were in grave condition.
'This s**t is crazy. I'm gonna pull through and get the f*** out of here,' she said, according to an account from Billboard.
Bernhard moved the show along, before later returning to the subject to use it as an unexpected punchline.
She clutched her chest and slumped over, simulating a heart attack before quipping, 'That's a new party trick.'
In addition to cracking jokes, the multihyphenate entertainer sang a selection of cover songs with her Sandyland Squad Band.
Together, they covered recognizable tunes including McFadden & Whitehead's Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now and Lana Del Rey's Young and Beautiful.
Sandra's partner of more than two decades, Sara Switzer, was part of the 90-person audience during opening night.
On Wednesday she took to Instagram, where she boasts nearly 200,000 followers, and reflected on her first show.
Last night @cafecarlyle [was] fun as hell. The band was beautiful, the crowd divine. I'm there tonight through Saturday. Won't you come join us?' she captioned.
'I would if I were you!' she added before crediting her band and her hair and makeup team.
For the occasion the Michigan-bred beauty wore a coordinating orange and red top and skirt covered in large round sequins.
Her shoulder-length ginger-toned locks were parted down the middle and styled in bouncy ringlets.
Cafe Carlyle also promoted her stint at the venue with a supportive social media post.
'Sandra Bernhard made her Café Carlyle debut last night and brought the house down with her one-woman show,' the Instagram account touted.
The note continued, 'With her signature mix of cabaret, comedy, and cultural commentary, she delivered razor sharp wit and unapologetic satire.'
The post concluded, 'There's only one @sandragbernhard and she's live through May 3.'

Hulk Hogan's daughter shares concerning conspiracy theory over WWE star's death
WWE icon Hulk Hogan died aged 71 last month and his estranged daughter has posted a conspiracy theory regarding his death despite authorities stating there was no foul play Hulk Hogan's daughter has shared a concerning conspiracy theory about the WWE star's death on social media on Tuesday before sharing a heartfelt tribute to her late father. The wrestling icon, born Terry Gene Bollea, died aged 71 on July 24 after suffering a heart attack. For years, the retired ex- WWE star hadn't been in contact with 37-year-old Brooke after their relationship broke down. That same fractured relationship was brought into the spotlight when she shared an emotional tribute on social media following Hogan's death. It was recently emerged that they had a 'tearful conversation' only a few days before he passed away at his home in Florida. A few days after his death, it was reported that Hogan died from acute myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack, per the Pinellas County Forensic Science Centre. It comes after Sir Michael Palin says he is preparing for the end of his life in sad update. In documents obtained by PageSix, it's stated that Hogan had a history of atrial fibrillation (AFib), which is a heart condition characterised by an irregular and often rapid heart rate. The documents also record that the late sports star had a history of leukaemia, CLL, which is a type of cancer that affects white blood cells called lymphocytes. But now, his daughter Brooke reposted an Instagram post promoting an article by radio personality Bubba the Love Sponge that's titled 'Quick cremation without autopsy raises questions about Hulk Hogan's death'. She added the words: "Exactly". Speaking on his YouTube channel, Bubba claimed Hogan's cremation was approved without an autopsy or independent examination by the county medical examiner. Other allegations he made were that the star was already cremated and someone could have injected something into the wrestler's dialysis port while he was sleeping to induce a heart attack. "There were no signs of foul play or suspicious activity," Maj. Nate Burnside of the Clearwater Police Department told reporters, according to the Tampa Bay Times. His death certificate states he will be cremated at the Bay Area Crematory in Clearwater, with no specific date revealed. A spokesperson for the medical examiner's office confirmed a request for cremation on July 31. They told Page Six at the time: "I'm not aware of when Mr. Bollea will be cremated, only that we've received a request for cremation approval." When Brooke phoned into Bubba's Twitch stream on Tuesday, she was asked for her thoughts on his theories. She said: "'I do think it's weird that no autopsy was performed."

Disney's Family Feud viewers disgusted after all transgender team who did quiz show to raise money for PROSTITUTES make foul jokes
Disney's Family Feud is facing backlash after its first-ever all-trans team made a number of sexually charged jokes as they raised money for black trans prostitutes. The team was led by actress Laverne Cox, who joked about having her testicles removed as she cracked innuendos throughout the family show airing this week. She appeared alongside Mila Jam, Joslyn De Freece, TS Madison, and entertainer Peppermint, as the team raised money for Madison's charity TS Madison Starter House. The charity is a re-entry home for recently imprisoned black trans women, and describes itself on its website as 'an innovative housing initiative designed to support and empower black trans women engaged in sex work.' The all-trans team won $25,000 for Madison's charity, who added on the show that her charity for recently incarcerated prostitutes is a 're-entry house for system-impacted trans women.' Host Steve Harvey appeared stunned by some of the sex jokes that the team made during the show, with one coming after he asked Madison if he could call her 'TS.' 'Of course,' she responded. 'Listen, I take it short or long.' Harvey looked lost for words as he tried to get the show back on track, before Madison made another double entendre just seconds later. As Harvey turned to the camera with his mouth open in shock, Madison chimed in again: 'Steve Harvey, it's okay to free ball, we're free balling today.' 'We're free balling all day,' she added. Cox then added her own innuendo about having her own testicles removed. She cut in: 'Some of us are without the 'B' word, so some of us are free, and some of us have set them free.' As Harvey said 'oh my God', Madison added: 'Mine is called Chucky.' The lewd jokes sparked backlash from some on social media who slammed the remarks on the family show. Some X users called for a boycott of Family Feud, feeling the moment crossed the line. 'The freeballing jokes/ innuendos from the trans family was CRINGE ASF!!!' one X user said. 'Bring back shame.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by Family Feud (@familyfeud) Another said: 'Celebrity Family Feud features all trans team that is raising money for black prostitutes. Survey says... Show cancellation coming soon.' One also directed their response directly to host Steve Harvey, saying the show 'was the most disappointing family feud ever.' 'Not interested in the show any longer with these types of candidates.' Disney did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the response to the show when contacted by the Daily Mail. The team's leader Laverne Cox, best known as the star of Orange is the New Black, made her appearance weeks after facing scrutiny from her own fans for admitting she dated a Trump-supporter. The star, 53, who is known for her extremely progressive politics, enraged her woke fanbase after dropping the bombshell about her love life in a video to promote her upcoming one-woman show. She also admitted that her lover, a police officer, was 22 years younger than her. 'He was 26, I was 48,' she explained. 'He is a blonde hair, blue-eyed MAGA Republican voter who is a New York City police officer.' While they're no longer dating, Cox admitted that they were 'madly in love' during their time together, and also gushed about how 'hot' he was, but insisted that she never adopted any of his conservative political views. The post was met with extreme backlash from fans of the Orange Is the New Black star, with many expressing complete shock and disbelief that she could date a Republican while publicly preaching her progressive politics.

Famous musician says she was on turbulent Delta flight from hell that saw jet FREE FALL towards ground
EDM musician Kristine W has revealed she thought she was going to die aboard a Delta flight that nose dived over 1,500 feet as it headed from Salt Lake City to Amsterdam last week. Kristine and her daughter Elizabeth were on Delta flight 56 when it was forced to make an emergency landing in Minneapolis after it underwent extreme turbulence, sending 25 people to hospital. The singer described the moment the plane started rattling from the turbulence, which sent passengers flying into the plastic overhangs and food and drinks all over the cabin. 'I've been flying for 40 years. I've never experienced anything this horrific in my life,' Kristine told ABC 4. 'I've never thought, "Oh, we're finished" … and I've been in terrible situations flying because that's what I do. I fly all over the planet.' Kristine said her head hit the ceiling so hard that it cracked a light above her, causing her to black out for a moment. Kristina, left, recalled slamming her head on the plane's ceiling and blacking out for a moment She added that the plane ascended rapidly before dropping in what felt like a free fall. The singer's daughter Elizabeth described the chaos which included a lady who was burned when coffee spilled on her amid the turbulence. 'There was just food and drinks flying everywhere… I thought we were done. I just started praying honestly,' Elizabeth shared. Kristine, who has had over 15 dance songs on Billboard charts, filed a complaint with the Federal Aviation Administration over the incident. 'It needs to be talked about,' the artist said. 'This should never happen, and they need to find out what happened on that flight.' Data from flight tracking site FlightAware showed that the plane plummeted over 1,600 feet in an 85 second span. The flight then continued for over an hour after the terrifying altitude drop before landing safely in Minneapolis. An image from inside the aircraft showed food and drinks strewn across the rear of the jet, as passengers said flight attendants were swept off their feet. At least 25 people were taken to hospital after the emergency landing, with reported injuries including a broken leg and fractured ribs. The Airbus A330-900 was carrying 275 customers and a 13-member crew last Wednesday evening. Serious injuries from in-flight turbulence are rare, but scientists say they may be becoming more common as climate change alters the jet stream. Several turbulence-impacted flights have been reported this yea and raised awareness about aviation safety. In January, a midair collision over Washington DC killed 67 people. A plane flipped over as it crashed in Toronto in March. In July, passengers slid down an emergency slide to flee a smoking jet at Denver International Airport.
