Sarah Greene's love with dead husband's friend after message from 'beyond grave'
The Finish Line star Sarah Greene once opened up about her love life since the passing of her husband, Mike Smith.
Former Blue Peter and Saturday Superstore presenter Sarah, 67, returned to our screens back in 2023 alongside Roman Kemp for the BBC One quiz show. She shared a deeply personal connection between her late husband, the iconic Radio 1 Breakfast Show and Top Of The Pops host who tragically died in 2014 following complications from heart surgery, and her current partner, ex-racing driver Robb Gravett.
The TV star explained that Gravett, a close friend of the couple, came into her life through what she feels was Mike's celestial intervention.
In an intimate confession on the My Time Capsule podcast back in 2022, Greene recalled loving memories of Smith, hinting at his influence from beyond: "I sort of know Mike is pulling so many strings in my life."
She elaborated: "He has undoubtedly been responsible for me meeting my beloved who was one of his oldest friends, who waited a certain amount of time but did keep leaving messages on the answering machine. I thought he was just being kind".
And continuing, she explained when the truth hit her, saying: "Then I got a message almost saying 'For God's sake, Greeno, Robb is trying to make contact with you because he actually wants to take you out, not because he's kind. So will you just get off your arse and go and answer the phone next time it rings!'
"And lo and behold, a whole new conversation started. I'm sure, and Robb is very sure too, because it's a very strange situation."
She detailed how she was worried about the relationship in the early days: "I remember being terribly worried and saying to the dear man who I'd known for all these years, 'Isn't it strange coming into the house and seeing all these pictures everywhere of Mike?'"
"He said, 'No, no, it's not strange. It'd be strange if they weren't there. And remember, I love him too.'"
Talking about working with Roman on The Finish Line, Sarah acknowledged her co-host's better ability to mask his emotions stating, "Roman has a much better poker face than I do. You can read my face from a mile off. But I have to remind myself I'm pretending to be Richard Osman on Pointless. That's the acting skill coming in."
Back in 2017, Sarah presented This Morning alongside Phillip Schofield, covering for Holly Willoughby, in a throwback to their children's TV days together. She returned the same year to present alongside Rylan Clark.

County Antrim: Young beekeepers buzz with excitement at competition
Young beekeepers from across the UK were buzzing with excitement as they took part in a beekeeping competition in County Antrim this Ulster Beekeepers Association (UBKA) hosted young beekeepers from Northern Ireland, England and Scotland as part of a home nations young people, aged between 12 and 18, made sure to leave their sting on the beekeeping world as they took part in theory and practical event was held ahead of the International Meeting of Young Beekeepers, which will take place in Belfast in July 2026 and will welcome competitors from 40 countries. The competition, which took place on Friday and Saturday, was held at the College of Agriculture Food & Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) Greenmount Campus and at the Randalstown & District Beekeepers Association apiary. What is the International Meeting of Young Beekeepers? The International Meeting of Young Beekeepers (IMYB) is the world's largest gathering of young beekeeping IMYB 2026 will have an opening ceremony at Titanic Belfast and a finale at Belfast City Hall, while the challenges will be held at Riddel Hall at Queen's University Belfast (QUB).It will be the first time Northern Ireland has hosted the IMYB. Sarah, 16, first asked her parents for bees for her 12th birthday, and since then she has competed in two IMYBs for Northern Ireland."I've met people from all over the world, and I've still been in contact with some of them so it's an incredible opportunity not just to educate yourself on other cultures' beekeeping but also just to make friends," she told BBC News said she is scared of beekeeping "almost dying out" as she doesn't see many other young beekeepers."No offence to beekeepers around but a lot of them are sort of retirement age, I guess because they have the money and the time to do it, but I think you need new blood for new ideas." Last year Sarah competed as part of the Northern Ireland team at the IMYB in Dubai. She said: "It was absolutely incredible, probably bit of an odd place for a beekeeping competition since a lot of it is artificial and they import all their bees in."But I really enjoyed it, they treated us really well and I guess it was interesting seeing how they do things, even if it is a bit unconventional."She is hopeful that she will make the team again when the event comes to Belfast next year "I think it would be an amazing opportunity and even if I didn't get on I would still like to help with the hosting in Northern Ireland because it's my home country, I want to be a part of it." 'You'll learn so much' Blair, who is 17-years-old, competed for Team Scotland at Dubai's IMYB and has 14 hives of his of the County Antrim competition, he said: "I'm excited, I think it's a great opportunity for everyone. You'll learn so much and you'll meet so many nice people".Blair described the meeting in Dubai as "amazing" saying he had met people from all over the world who he still speaks to regularly. He said beekeeping is "good for your mind" and that the community is great at all levels. Phoebe, 16, is a young beekeeper for Team England and also took part in the IMYB in said she was "very excited and happy" to take part in the competition in County Antrim. Speaking ahead of the IMYB in Belfast next year, Phoebe said she was lucky to have the experience in Dubai and "it would be nice to let someone else have a turn". 'Dress rehearsal' John Hill, President of the Ulster Beekeepers Association (UBKA), said seeing all the young people at the home nations competition is "very good for beekeeping in general"."We are certainly trying to encourage young people to become beekeepers and to start off the craft at an earlier age. "Because young people do tend to absorb the knowledge that is required like blotting paper, they just soak it up and they find it very interesting."Mr Hill said the home nations meeting is like a "dress rehearsal" for IMYB 2026, which will be a "prestigious event to come to Northern Ireland". "The idea is that we will put them through the various skills and knowledge that they need to know, and certainly in previous competitions the Northern Ireland team has done extremely well," he Hill said there was "some competition" to bring the IMYB event to Northern Ireland."We are very pleased that we managed to win them over to allow it to come here."

Blue Peter star unrecognisable decades since quitting 'out of touch' show
Stuart Miles is barely-recognisable as the fresh-faced Blue Peter icon of the 90s, when he starred alongside names including Tim Vincent and Konnie Huq - and now has a new career Stuart Miles famously quit Blue Peter after slamming the TV series for being "out of touch" with its young BBC viewers. It had been just three months since his friend and co-star Richard Bacon had been sacked for taking cocaine, and Stuart was arguing that children were no longer interested in sticky back plastic and pets. "With the year 2000 nearly here we've got to make Blue Peter more relevant to modern-thinking children," he said. "Less twee, more hard-hitting. I know it's like a comfort blanket for a lot of people, a programme that will never shock or offend you, but we err on the side of caution." Then 27 years old, Stuart was, at the time, Blue Peter's longest-serving presenter, with his exit coming as a huge blow to the corporation, who had been wrestling with the drug-taking expose of Richard Bacon and his replacement on the show. But, 26 years later, what has become of Stuart? He went on to guest-present shows including This Morning and Holiday and also became a regular on Sky Vegas, an interactive TV gambling channel. He went on to present a breakfast show for Heart FM alongside his former co-star, Katy Hill. And in 2008, he launched a drag show at Edinburgh Fringe, The Adventures of Pink Peter, dressing up as Vera Singleton who was portrayed as sister of Valerie Singleton, one of the show's early presenters. A decade later, Stuart spoke about his regret over not coming out as gay during his time on Blue Peter. Speaking to Metro, he said: "I only have one regret and that is I spent a lot of my time on the show feeling conflicted about my sexuality. I was frightened of the reaction I may get both in the press and from the parents of children who watched the show if I came out as a gay man. This may seem daft to someone growing up gay in 2018 but it's easy to forget how, as little as 20 years ago, we were in a very different place." In fact, Blue Peter had sacked one of its presenters in 1985, Michael Sundin, with many claiming it was because of his sexuality. This was refuted by the show's then-Editor, Biddy Baxter, who said it was simply that Michael was unpopular with viewers. He sadly died of an Aids-related illness in 1989. Now aged 56, Stuart is barely recognisable from his Blue Peter days and also has a new career, as a professional speaker for Great British Speakers. Just months ago, 66 year old Blue Peter itself received a huge shake-up, as its legendary live broadcasts were axed to make way for pre-recorded shows. Last year, former presenters Anthea Turner and Janet Ellis launched a bid to save the show when it was put out to tender.
