Pat McAfee leaves fans outraged with vulgar introduction of MLB star during Home Run Derby
McAfee was tasked with introducing the participants in the competition, including the favorite to win the event - Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh.
Raleigh, who leads baseball in home runs at the All-Star Break, is also known by his nickname 'Big Dumper'. He earned that nickname in the minor leagues for his rather large posterior.
McAfee, who has been known to give over-the-top introductions, decided to do the same for Raleigh live on ESPN's airwaves.
'Hailing from Cullowhee, North Carolina, a man who's doing something that no catcher has ever done in the history of the sport,' McAfee began before dropping, 'With the fattest a** in all of professional sports... Ladies and gentlemen: Big Dumper! Cal Raleigh!'
Raleigh may have embraced the nickname after some initial pushback, but for many watching on at home, McAfee's cringeworthy intro and dropping of a curse word was a step too far.

'This douche needs to go away. He is a clown,' wrote one user on X. Another shared a similar sentiment: 'And we thought this douchebag couldn't be any more cringe.'
College basketball podcaster CurryHicksSage noted, 'I do feel like the downfall of America has coincided with Pat McAfee's rise in sports broadcasting.'
'Why do they keep forcing this clown on us?' another fan wondered.
Another said, 'Pat McAfee doesn't know anything about baseball and doesn't give a flying f*ck about baseball. Way to go ESPN.'
'Why is he still employed. Mcafee is awful,' wrote another account. A different person said, 'We've moved past the need for Pat McAfee being on my television every time I want to watch sports actually'.
One person replied to a clip of McAfee dropping the curse word, saying, 'Not funny. My son Jamison was watching this with me and now he won't stop saying this cuss word.'
McAfee's display of - let's say, overexuberance - isn't the first time he's attracted controversy at a live ESPN event this year.
During the NFL Draft, McAfee appeared to take out a vaporizer pen and took a puff before blowing smoke while sitting at his broadcast desk. Later, McAfee clarified that this vaporizer contained 'CBD/Vitamins' and provided 'a little altitude/attitude lift'.
As seen above, his frequent antics have led to people calling for his job - including former ESPN anchor Keith Olbermann who demanded the company fire McAfee for calling Canada a 'terrible country'.
As for 'Big Dumper' himself, Raleigh did end up winning the event - becoming the first Mariners player to do so since Ken Griffey Jr. in 1999.

'Severance,' 'The Penguin' lead nominations for TV's Emmy awards
LOS ANGELES, July 15 (Reuters) - Psychological thriller "Severance" from Apple TV+ and HBO's crime drama "The Penguin" stacked up the most nominations for Emmy Awards on Tuesday, outpacing "The Studio" and "The White Lotus" in the contest for television's highest honors. "Severance" received a leading 27 nominations and was nominated for the top prize of best drama alongside Star Wars series "Andor," "The Pitt," "The White Lotus" and others. "The Penguin," set in the DC Comics universe and starring Colin Farrell, earned 24 nominations and will compete for best limited series against Netflix (NFLX.O), opens new tab hit "Adolescence," among others. Hollywood satire "The Studio," an Apple TV+ show featuring Seth Rogen as a nervous film executive, and HBO's "The White Lotus," about murder and misdeeds at a luxury resort, received 23 each. "What the heck?!! We never thought this would happen," Rogen said in a statement. Comedy nominees included defending champion "Hacks," previous winner "The Bear," "Nobody Wants This" and "Abbott Elementary." The 23 nominations for "The Studio" tied the record for a comedy in a single season, set last year by Chicago restaurant tale "The Bear." Winners of the Emmys will be announced at a red-carpet ceremony in Los Angeles, broadcast live on CBS (PARA.O), opens new tab on September 14. Comedian Nate Bargatze will host. The television industry is undergoing a contraction as media companies curtail the sky-high spending they shelled out to compete in the shift to streaming platforms led by Netflix. Longtime Emmy favorite HBO and the HBO Max streaming service topped all programmers with 142 nominations, a record for the network. Walt Disney (DIS.N), opens new tab collected 137 nominations, including six for ABC's "Abbott Elementary," one of the few broadcast shows in the Emmy mix. "Andor," on Disney+, received 14. Netflix garnered 120 nods and Apple scored 81, its highest total since launching its streaming service in 2019. "Severance" tells the story of office workers who undergo a procedure to make them forget their home life at work, and vice versa. "It's distinctive in every way - in terms of its storytelling, in terms of style, in terms of its directing, its tone," said Matt Cherniss, head of programming at Apple TV+. Star Adam Scott, a best actor nominee, said the cast was unsure how viewers would respond. "The fact that it's resonated at all has been just such an incredible feeling," Scott said. "We thought it was something that might be too weird." Noah Wyle received his first Emmy nomination since 1999 for his role as an emergency room doctor on "The Pitt." Wyle was nominated five times for "ER" but never won. "I'm humbled and grateful," Wyle said of the recognition for "The Pitt," which received 13 total nominations. Harrison Ford, 83, earned his first Emmy nod, for playing a grumpy therapist on "Shrinking." Ron Howard, the former "Happy Days" star turned Oscar-winning director, also landed his first acting nomination, a guest actor nod for playing himself on "The Studio." He will compete with fellow director Martin Scorsese, also a guest star on the show. Other notable acting nominees included Farrell and Cristin Milioti for "The Penguin," "The Bear" actors Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri, "Hacks" stars Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder, Kathy Bates for "Matlock" and Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey for "The Last of Us." Eight "White Lotus" actors were recognized. "This is a bunch of cherries on the icing on the cake that was the gift of playing such a tortured and lonely human," said Jason Isaacs, who portrayed a suicidal father facing financial ruin on the show. Beyonce also made the Emmys list. Her halftime performance during a National Football League game on Netflix was nominated for best live variety special. Missing from the field was Netflix's popular Korean drama "Squid Game," while the final season of previous drama winner "The Handmaid's Tale" received just one nod. Winners will be chosen by the roughly 26,000 performers, directors, producers and other members of the Television Academy. (This story has been corrected to say that Disney's total nominations are 137 in paragraph 11)

Move over Zac Efron! Netflix fans go wild over new hunk starring in a rom-com with Miranda Cosgrove
A new hunk is gracing the screen in the upcoming Netflix rom-com The Wrong Paris - which is set to hit the streaming site later this year on September 12. Pierson Fode, 33, is portraying the leading male heartthrob in the movie, which also stars former Nickelodeon actress Miranda Cosgrove. The pair are no strangers to working together and the actor notably made his acting debut in an episode of the hit series iCarly in 2012. Fode - who was reportedly in the running to be cast as the Superman back in 2023 - has joined other Netflix hunks, such as Zac Efron who appeared in A Family Affair last year. New images from the film were released on Tuesday and include Pierson showing off his ripped physique while on set. The Wrong Paris follows Cosgrove's character as she takes part in a dating show which she initially assumes takes place in Paris, France - but soon comes to found out it is set in the city of the same name in Texas. Along with Fode and Cosgrove, other cast members are Madison Pettis, Torrance Coombs, Madeleine Arthur and Frances Fisher. Social media users jumped to the comment section of a post uploaded to Netflix's main Instagram page which showcased photos from the rom-com. 'So excited,' one fan penned, while another also typed out, 'I can't wait to watch this movie.' Cosgrove herself also offered a simple message of her own and added an array of red heart emojis. Last month in June, the streaming site also teased with a first look snap - and one follower labeled both Pierson and Miranda as 'gorgeous.' But fans began fawning over the actor late last year when he uploaded behind-the-scenes photos as he had a blast on set of The Wrong Paris. One wrote, 'Hollywood's favorite cowboy,' and another shared, 'Too much hottness in one photo.' '@piersonfode will always be a version of Superman somewhere in another timeline,' an Instagram user commented. David Corenswet was eventually cast in the covered role of the superhero in the James Dunn film which recently hit theaters on July 11. 'So excited for the movie. You and Miranda perfect for the role,' another fan typed out, and one shared, 'This is going to be AMAZING!!!' Fode and Cosgrove reunited for their leading roles in the upcoming Netflix movie after they first worked together in a 2012 episode of Nickelodeon's iCarly. The actor then went on to star in a variety of other projects, such as playing the role of Brooks in the Disney channel series Jessie. He played Thomas Forrester in the soap opera The Bold And The Beautiful from 2015 through 2018. Fode also took on roles in shows such as Supergirl and Animal Kingdom. Aside from television, the model has additionally appeared in a number of movies since kicking off his acting career. He has appeared in Naomi And Ely's No Kiss List (2015), 72 Hours (2024) and The Man From Toronto (2022) - which also starred Kevin Hart, Woody Harrelson and Kaley Cuoco. Pierson was born in the state of Washington and grew up on a farm with his family. During a recent interview with People, Fode expressed how his childhood prepared him for his role in The Wrong Paris. 'Playing Trey felt like playing a version of with more cameras and fewer early-morning feeding,' he told the outlet. Pierson also recalled how the cast would have movie nights and 'cue up a different rom-com each time as inspiration.' He added, 'We love a good Matthew McConaughey moment, and you catch a subtle hat tip or two to his legacy throughout the film. With a dash of Fode, of course.' Janeen Damian - who directed the Netflix project - gushed about the 'chemistry' between the two leading stars. She explained that 'the sparks were there' between Pierson and Miranda which is 'not always a given.' The filmmaker continued, 'Miranda and Pierson knew exactly where they were emotionally in the story and delivered such a gorgeous, nuanced gut-punch of a performance. It was truly a joy to work with them.' Fode has previously garnered two Daytime Emmy nominations for his performance in The Bold And The Beautiful. During a past interview with Soap Opera Digest, he reflected on the milestone - and how he first discovered the nod during an appearance on The Talk. 'It was cool. Obviously, I was hoping it would happen and it did, so that was really incredible. 'What really surprised me was when they showed that Instagram picture of me from the tanning booth when we were in Australia. Yeah, looking up and seeing yourself practically naked on that big screen? That was a surprise,' he joked. Fode - who previously dated actress Victoria Justice - is active on social media, and notably boasts 1 million followers on Instagram.

The Open champion Xander Schauffele doesn't know where his trophies are and reveals what his wife did to upset him
OPEN champion Xander Schauffele celebrated last year's triumph by drinking tequila out of the Claret Jug and smoking a big Cuban cigar. But the Californian, whose form has nosedived since he won his second Major at Troon 12 months ago, is not your typical brash American. 4 4 4 4 Schauffele, 31, revealed he does not have any of his 12 professional trophies at home, claims he does not know the whereabouts of his Olympic gold medal and hates the fact his wife put a photo of that Tokyo 2021 success on the wall of his gym. As he prepares to defend his jug at Portrush this week, he said: 'I don't have any trophies at my house. They are at my parents' house, probably, or in a bank vault. 'I don't really invite people over, so am I just going to go look at them myself? 'I don't want to walk into a trophy room and say, 'Look how great I am'. I was raised to think that way, and it stuck. 'I actually have no idea where it (the Olympic gold medal) is, to be completely honest. 'What am I going to do with it? 'My wife hung up some pictures in my gym of me winning the Olympic medal, and she put it so high up, I can't reach it. 'I'd have to get a ladder and it bothers me. 'Like anything... put up a photo of me in a Masters Green Jacket (which Schauffele has not won). That would p**s me off. 'Something like that would be more motivating. I don't want to look at that photo. 'I'd rather have a photo of my dogs on the wall or a clock. I'm always late, so maybe a clock would be good.' Two-time Major winner Schauffele admits he did try tequila out of the Claret Jug — but insists he does not drink like the locals here on the Northern Irish coast. He said: 'I'm embarrassed to say I had a little tequila from it on holiday in Portugal — but, no, not with salt and lime because the lid barely opens. 'I've had wine out of it, but not much. I don't drink a whole lot. 'I definitely drank more after a few championships last year. 'But I'm not Irish, I know the celebrations go a bit deeper here than what I'm accustomed to! 'In my fashion, I had a cigar. I had my family. I had a few phone calls. It was a nice celebration. 'Then we were going to the Olympics shortly after. It seems whenever we play in these tournaments, you're on to the next right away. 'It's a bummer to give up the trophy this year. I'm looking forward to trying to get it back.'
