The new Apple Mac mini M4 is a tiny but powerful new computer from Apple and already we are seeing ... More lots of docking stations for it with plenty of expansion possibilities. If you've bought an Apple Mac mini M4, then you are probably in the market for a docking station to use with it. Apple's latest mini Mac has three Thunderbolt ports at its rear, plus two USB-C ports at the front and a headphone socket. However, it doesn't have an USB-A ports, memory card slots or any other way of expanding its connectivity. This is where a docking station comes in. There's a growing choice of them on the market for the Mac mini, so I thought I would look at a couple of newly released models to see what they offer. The two I selected both have slightly different approaches to the problem, but each has some extra ports and more storage space in the form of a slot for M.2 NVMe SSD. The first device I looked at is Ugreen's 10-in-1 USB-C Docking Station for Apple Mac mini M4. This unit works with both the basic Mac Mini M4 and the Mac Mini M4 Pro, which has Thunderbolt 5 ports. It's the same dimensions as a mac mini M4. The new Ugreen 10-in-1 docking station for the Mac mini M4 has lots of ports as well as SSD ... More expansion. Ugreen 10-in-1 Mac Mini M4 Docking Station The Ugreen docking station sits beneath the Mac mini M4 but leaves a good amount of space between the two units to allow for adequate air circulation. There is a cable that plugs into the rear of the Mac mini M4, occupying two of the Thunderbolt ports. By taking up two ports, Ugreen has managed to increase the bandwidth of the docking station so it can cope with faster speeds of data transfer. At the rear of the docking station there is a small carved out niche which makes the Mac mini M4's awkwardly placed power switch super-easy to access. That's a useful feature for those of us who like to turn our computers off at night. Also at the rear of the docking station there is a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is much more convenient if you want to plug in a pair of powered speakers into the Mac mini. You can still use the headphone jack on the front of the Mac if you want to listen with a pair of wired headphones, but the extra jack gives you options. There are ports aplenty on Ugreen's 10-in-1 docking station for Apple;s Mac mini M4. Multiple Ports And An SSD Slot There is a DisplayPort at the rear which can drive an second 4K display with a refresh rate up to 240Hz. Ugreen has also included two USB-A ports with a 10Gbps transfer speed and a sapre USB-C port with 10Gbps. That extra USB-C port means that although the docking station takes up two Thunderbolt ports, you get one back one although it's not a Thunderbolt port but you still have one of those available on the Mac Mini and Thunderbolt devices can be daisy chained. Moving around the to the front of the docking station there are two more USB-A ports rated at 10Gbps speed plus two slots for an SD and microSD memory card. That's a lot of extra connectivity and should be enough for most people's needs. Finally, the Ugreen docking station has a small hatch on its underside which opens to reveal a slot for an M.2 NVMe SSD. The slot can accommodate all sizes of M.2 SSDs and with capacities up to 8TB. There's no fan or heatsink installed, so it's probably wise to add a silicone cooling pad and choose an SSD that runs cool, such as one of the Samsung models. Some SSDs run very hot, so choose your storage wisely. The Orico Mini Pro is a tower-style docking station for the Mac mini M4 and comes with two USB-A ... More ports, two memory card slots and a chamber for accommodating an M.2 NVMe SSD. Orico MiniPro Chassis Stand The second dock for the Apple Mac Mini M4 comes in the form of the Orico MiniPro Chassis Stand. Looking a lot like a miniature version of Apple's Mac Pro, this aluminum case takes the Mac mini M4 vertically and features cutouts on the front and back for the computer's ports. The dock connects to the Mac mini M4 with a single USB cable that plugs into one of the spare computer's Thunderbolt ports. Like the Ugreen docking station, the Orico has a button for firing up the Mac mini's awkwardly placed power switch. As far as extra ports are concerned, the Orico doesn't offer quite as many options as Ugreen, but it does include two USB-A ports with speeds of 10Gbps. On the front of the case are slots for SD and microSD memory cards. That's about the limit of ports that this docking station has to offer except for its SSD chamber. On the bottom of the Orico Chassis Stand is a small door secured by a single screw. The chamber opens to reveal a slot for holding an M.2 NVMe SSD so you can expand the storage of your Mac mini M4. Apple charges a massive premium for its internal SSD storage, although it does use very fast modules that are soldered to the motherboard and provide exceptional speeds which are handy for heavy duty use like video editing. The Orico MiniPro for Apple's Mac mini M4 computer can accept an SSD up to 8TB capacity. Expand Mac Mini M4 Storage The SSD expansion can be ordered from Orico empty, leaving you free to source your own SSD or you can specify one of Orico's own SSDs which can be factory installed for you. Fitting an SSD in the slot is easy and you can add one up to a maximum of 8TB capacity. There's no active cooling built-in, so some sort of passive cooling method like a silicone pad is recommended. Both these docking stations are an easy way of adding more storage to Apple's Mac mini M4 or M4 Pro. Which docking station you choose will depend on the look you want and, more importantly, how many extra ports you need. It's probably fair to say that the Ugreen offers more expansion for the money, while the Orico has the chunky look of Apple's Mac Pro and may suit those who don't need too many extra ports. The 2026 Subaru Uncharted Is a 338-HP Small Electric Explorer
Whenever Toyota drops a new EV, you won't have to wait long for the accompanying Subaru sibling. The Subaru Solterra followed the Toyota bZ4x back in 2023, now known as the bZ, while Toyota's stretched bZ Woodland arrived not long after the surprisingly quick Subaru Trailseeker dropped at the 2025 New York International Auto Show. Clearly, Subaru and Toyota's electric partnership is holding strong, as Subaru welcomes a third sibling to its electric lineup. Known as the 2026 Subaru Uncharted, the new compact electric crossover shares its platform with the re-launched Toyota C-HR, which was revealed in May. The Uncharted will be Subaru's first electric, compact crossover and is set to be offered in three trim levels—Premium FWD, Sport, and GT. Riding on the same TNGA-C architecture as the C-HR, the Uncharted gets its energy via an identical 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Sport trim and GT trim units of the Uncharted are propelled by a pair of electric motors with a total output of 338 hp. This makes the upscale trim levels of the Uncharted AWD, but Subaru is quick to point out that the Uncharted is not an exact copy of the Toyota. Keen readers will notice that the Subaru Uncharted is also available in front-wheel-drive form, departing from the Toyota C-HR's standard AWD configuration. Premium FWD units of the Uncharted are down significantly on power—221 hp is fed through a single e-motor upfront—but benefit from a middling range increase. This will make it the only Subaru outside of the BRZ on sale today in the U.S. that doesn't come standard with AWD. Subaru says AWD versions of the Uncharted will be able to go 290 miles on a single charge. Front-wheel-drive versions will go the distance at over 300 miles of range, though Subaru declined to give specific mileage figures ahead of official EPA testing. Charging will be accomplished through standard NACS charge ports at speeds up to 150 kW. Subaru claims the Uncharted will be able to juice up from 10 percent to 80 percent in nearly 30 minutes. Affordability, long-range accessibility, and a relatively small difference in manufacturing needs are likely behind Subaru's decision to offer a FWD version, but it is curious that Toyota's initial market entrance for the C-HR is a more premium one. "During benchmarking, we brought some of the competitors into two groups — the normal, let's say daily use cars, and the premium cars. Now, we are in the premium group," Daisuke Ido, chief engineer of the bZ and C-HR lineup, said in an interview with Road & Track earlier this year. Another difference between Toyota's C-HR and the Subaru Uncharted is in the suspension. Subaru says its own engineers tuned the suspension on the Uncharted to better meet its customers' needs, including those who plan to drive on loose surfaces such as gravel, dirt, and snow. The adventure-forward brand even went as far as to say the Uncharted would offer dynamic performance "on and off road." City dwellers less concerned with performance will find the Uncharted has a nearly identical turning radius to the Crosstrek, which isn't all that impressive to begin with. The interior of Subaru's Uncharted will be a familiar blend of Subaru and Toyota technology, akin to the rest of the joint-venture born Japanese EVs. A 14-inch infotainment touchscreen, dual USB-C chargers, and an All-Weather package are standard on all Uncharted models. That means heated front seats, windshield wiper de-icer, and a power rear gate are equipped on even the base model Uncharted. Sport trims add Subaru's characteristic X-Mode traction system, a heated steering wheel, and StarTex upholstery. Top-of-the-line GT models add on a panoramic moonroof, 20-inch wheels, ventilated front seats, and a Harmon Kardon audio system. The 2026 Subaru Uncharted will arrive at dealerships nationwide by early 2026. Prospective buyers may cross-shop Hyundai's Kona EV and the Kia Niro EV, but we can't say how competitive the Uncharted will be without specific pricing details. We suspect it will start around $35,000, or perhaps even lower for the Premium FWD trim, but we'll have to wait and see just how affordable Subaru's newest EV will be. After taking some time to recharge, I am back to spend Friday morning like I always do; checking in on all of this week's most exciting product launches. This week brings the launch of Anker's latest desktop charging station, a new expansion to the Pokémon trading card game and a versatile smartphone lanyard from Satechi. Seven ways to refuel your desktop Anker has released a new charging station this week, and it includes one of my favorite features on any piece of tech that has come out this year. I've been singing the praises of this Anker Laptop Power Bank since it launched back at CES 2025 and have been using it every single day since it arrived. Aside from its massive battery and fast-charging features, the thing I love the most is its retractable USB-C cable, which is now being brought over to a stationary desktop charger. There's more than a few cards I'll be aiming to add to my collection, some of which I already opened for myself. Chasing after certain cards is all well and good, but it seems like you'll actually be able to buy them this time. Supply for this new expansion seems to be higher than normal, and the pull rates for cards is definitely improved over the last set I opened. The virtual idol has been popping up in more and more places lately, jumping from topping music charts to dominating video game lobbies in hit titles like Fortnite. Miku is no stranger to gaming, after all, with consistent stints across rhythm games for over a decade. But now Asus is channeling her signature turquoise color scheme for a lineup of PC gaming accessories. The new lineup includes just about everything you need to outfit a battlestation, including a keyboard, mouse, headset and other accessories. I've been putting them to the test this past week.
