And that's an added cost on top of actually attending the wedding itself.
Luckily the high street is full of options that don't have to break the bank and will still make you look and feel amazing.
From feathered one shouldered gowns, to tummy flattering ruching and dresses to accommodate a fuller bust, Deputy Fashion Editor Abby McHale has scoured the shops to bring you ten of the best dresses all for under £50.

This red crochet dress from Tu at Sainsbury's is a steal at just £28.
Crochet is great for the summer months as it is cooling, so if you're heading to a hot destination for a wedding this could be a good option.
Wear with some gold accessories to compliment the red and if you want an extra layer add a blazer over the top.

Empire line dresses are super flattering and look great on those with a fuller bust.
Vogue Williams shows off her wedding outfit
Not only does this New Look dress plunge into a v-neckline, but the lining underneath the bust will hold shape, before flowing over the rest of your body.
This pretty check floral pattern is soft and romantic, plus it has a cut out detail at the back, but it's high enough that you can still wear a bra - result.
H&M

Ruching is a great technique that looks great and flatters all, especially in areas you may feel more self conscious of.
This H&M dress keeps you cinched in at the waist with its stretchy fabric, the asymmetric element gives Grecian vibes with the gold clasp on the shoulder making this dress look a lot more expensive than its £22.99 price tag.
This is certainly a dress that you'd be comfortable in all day long.
Zara

Nothing screams glam quite like a one shouldered cape dress with a feathered cuff.
And for under £50 - practically unheard of.
This dress from Zara really brings the wow factor and if you're after something that is lightweight, airy and most importantly comfortable for the day, then this ticks all the boxes.

Pale yellow is one of the big colours for the season, so why not hop on board the trend for just £25.
The twist front around the bust area makes this a great option for everyone no matter what size you are and the tie straps also make a nice additional detail.
The dress is made from a stretchy ribbed fabric, meaning it won't cling where you don't want it to.

Wrap style dresses are always a fail safe flattering option for all and this dress from River Island is a new take on the look.
The fabric gathers together at one side, giving the illusion of a wrap dress and the bardot sleeves are also a great way of showing your decolletage and having some of your arm covered if you wish.
Next

This puff sleeve floral dress from Next is a great option for a wedding.
As well as the classic navy floral pattern it also comes in a polka dot and a red.
The puff sleeves and empire line detail elevate the dress and also make it flattering at the same time.
A great way to decide what colours to accessorise with is to pick them out from the dress and with plenty of other colours in this look you'll be spoilt for choice.

F&F at Tesco has not only launched online recently, meaning you no longer can only shop in store, but it's new rage of occasion wear will make you feel like a million dollars.
This particular dress is just £29.50, with ruffle capped sleeves and that empire line cut.

If you're looking for a long sleeve maxi dress then this one from Boohoo could be for you.

For most millennials, the denim skirt is a symbol of our youth attached to shrug cardigans, big belts and crippling Topshop ballet flats. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 10 Kate Moss brings back the denim mini skirt Credit: Goff In the past month, Noughties It girls Kate Moss, Alexa Chung and Anne Hathaway have each been spotted wearing minis, midis and maxi denim skirts, cementing their status as a key denim look. Like so many trends this season, and last, they seem to have sprouted from the Y2K era. Whether it's bodycon dresses being brought back to shelves, pedal pushers being a must-have item, or even wearing a headscarf. this once-deemed 'naff' era is having a major moment. And when the icons of the time start to dig out their old looks and spin them into new, updated outfits, we have to pay attention. Thankfully, denim skirts are an item that we can look good in - with a preferred length, shade and size to suit everyone. 10 Model Kate Moss sticks to her boho style formula when it comes to denim Credit: Goff Kate Moss, 51, is still clinging onto the early noughties look of a frayed denim hem with a thigh-grazing length - so if it's good enough for her, it's definitely good enough for us! She's - naturally - paired it with ballet flats, but she's kept her look up-to-date by opting for a lace-up style. As one of the celebrities who immediately springs to mind when I think of denim mini skirts, it seems fitting that Kate sticks to her signature, iconic style. Even though Kate's choice of mini might be vintage Levi's or high end designer, F&F at Tesco has its own version for just £9. 10 Skirt, £9, F&F at Tesco Anne Hathaway, 42, was pictured wearing hers on the set of the highly anticipated sequel to The Devil Wears Prada. 10 Actress Anne Hathaway on the set of The Devil Wears Prada 2 in a denim maxi skirt Credit: Getty Sydney Sweeney stuns in new American Eagle ad The designer (and expensive) Agolde style would set you back £300 if you were looking to channel your inner Andy Sachs, however high street alternatives are just as good. Six of the best trainers on sale now with savings of up to 50 per cent and plenty of sizes left up for grabs

SUMMER sales are in full swing and there are some real bargains to be had. It's a great time of year to be looking for those high-ticket items that can often set you back hundreds of pounds - and that includes trainers. The good thing with trainers is they don't often go out of style, so buying a pair in the sale now means they will still stand the test of time. And while there are a lot of sales on, it's worth double checking the offers, as while one store may say it has 30 per cent off a style, another may have 40 per cent off, with trainers being available at multiple stockists. Here, Deputy Fashion Editor Abby McHale gives the rundown on some of the best bargain trainers to buy now that will be perfect for the season ahead. Adidas has dominated trainer trends for the last couple of years, and the brand doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Its famous Samba style even made headlines last year for being former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's trainer of choice. These days, the Gazelle style is just as popular, and now you can get your hands on a pair in the sale. END Clothing currently has this cute pink and red pair at 50 per cent off, reduced to £48 . This American footwear brand has been around for over 100 years, with popularity growing in the fashion world over the last few years. No longer seen as just a practical shoe, these are one of the 'it' styles to be seen in. This pair available at Schuh is currently half-price at £44.99, with the forest green shade a perfect colour to take you into the autumn months. The new kid on the block for 2025 when it comes to trainers, the Hawaiian brand was founded in 2015 and has catapulted into the UK footwear industry this year. On the pricier side for trainers, at full RRP they retail for up to £200, however Office currently has them discounted. Brown suede has been a big trend for trainers this year and that isn't going anywhere for autumn, and, thankfully, this Alohas pair is reduced to £100 - making this saving nearly half price. If you're after a neutral pair of trainers with a flare for style then check out these from Nike. Taking inspiration from old-school styles, they feature both leather and suede, plus the iconic Nike swoosh. Nike currently has a sale on its own website, with this pair being reduced by 35 per cent, to £45.49. Make a statement with this red pair from Steve Madden. A pair of trainers that scream 'cool' not only for the colour, but also the fold over tongue and signature white logo down the side. While these trainers usually retail over the £100 mark, ASOS currently has them on sale for 40 per cent off, meaning they're just £60. Plus red is a colour that works all year round, so these will be perfect for the season ahead. The all-vegan shoe burst on to the scene back in 2017 and saw a surge in popularity a couple of years ago after the Princess of Wales was seen wearing a pair. These days they're still a great trainer to have as part of your collection, offering a practical style that will go with everything in your wardrobe. If you want to bag a pair for 50 per cent off then take a look at these available at the Sports Edit, reduced TO £70.
