
Man dies following crash on Hamilton road
A pedestrian has died following a crash on a Hamilton street in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The 43-year-old man died after the incident on Meikle Earnock Road at around 12.35am on Sunday, June 1, involving the pedestrian and a silver Skoda Octavia.
Road policing officers are appealing for information and have asked any witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage to get in touch.
Emergency services attended the scene and the pedestrian was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he died a short time later. His next of kin are aware.
The driver was uninjured. The road was closed to allow for crash investigation work and re-opened around 8am on Sunday morning.
Sergeant John Houston said: 'Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this very difficult time.
'Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash to contact us.
'We also ask anyone driving in the area at the time to check if they have dash-cam footage that can help with our investigation.'
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0155 of Sunday, June 1.

Three teenagers injured in crash that closed motorway for nine hours
Three teenagers have been taken to hospital after an early morning crash on the M77. Emergency services were called to the northbound carriageway near junction 5 south of Newton Mearns after reports of a crash involving a grey Volkswagen Polo around 12.22am on Wednesday. Four ambulances were sent to the incident, and the 19-year-old male driver was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The two male passengers, aged 17 and 19, were taken to hospital for treatment. The road was closed for more than nine hours. Sergeant Jim Dewar said: 'Our enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone with information that could assist to get in touch. A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson added, 'We received a call at 12.22am to attend a road traffic collision on the M77. 'We dispatched four ambulances to the scene, and we transported three patients to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.' Woman dies and man fighting for life after crash between car and van on A96
A woman has died and a man has been left fighting for his life after a crash involving a car and van on the A96 in the Highlands. Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash on the Inverness to Nairn road one mile east of the airport roundabout at aroudn 3.30pm on Tuesday. The incident involved a red Vauxhall Insignia car and a white Ford Transit Tipper van. The passenger of the car, a 65-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car, a 69-year-old man, was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness where his condition is described as 'critical'. The driver of the van was uninjured. The road was closed to allow for a full collision investigation and reopened around 11.25pm. Police Scotland is urging anyone with information regarding the crash to come forward. Sergeant Kate Finlayson said: 'Our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the woman who has died, and we are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances. 'We would appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have dash-cam footage from the area around the time of the crash to please come forward. 'Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2130 of July 22, 2025.' Family appeal over death of teenager hit by car near Hurlford
