India biggest sponsor of terrorism in region: COAS
ISLAMABAD: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), engaged with the probationary officers of the 52nd Common Training Program (CTP) of the Civil Services Academy during a session held at the Army Auditorium.
The probationary officers of the Civil Services Academy remained attached with the formations of Pakistan Army at peace time locations and operational areas of Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
According to ISPR, these officers gained rich experience of the three services during various interactions and visits.
This interaction with the COAS formed part of a broader national initiative aimed at strengthening institutional synergy and deepening mutual understanding between Pakistan's civil and military leadership.
In his address, the Field Marshal spoke on a range of critical issues, including national security imperatives, prevailing internal and external challenges, and the pivotal role of the Pakistan Armed Forces in preserving regional peace and national stability. He underscored the imperative of inter-institutional cohesion, mutual respect, and unified national purpose in advancing Pakistan's strategic and developmental objectives.
The COAS further highlighted the indispensable role of a capable, transparent, and service-driven civil bureaucracy within the architecture of state governance. He urged the young officers to embody the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and patriotic commitment in the fulfilment of their responsibilities to the nation.
The CTP participants expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to engage with the senior military leadership and gain first-hand insight into the Pakistan Army leadership's strategic vision, operational readiness, and its multifaceted contributions to national resilience and development.
The visit concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, reflecting a spirit of constructive dialogue, shared responsibility, and collective dedication to Pakistan's enduring progress.

'What India labels as terrorism is, in fact, a legitimate and lawful struggle for freedom, recognised by international law,' said Field Marshal Asim Munir. He accused India of deliberately escalating regional tensions just as Pakistan nears success in its fight against terrorism. Munir reaffirmed Pakistan's resolve to eliminate terrorism. 'We will take our fight against terrorism to its logical conclusion and rid the country of this menace once and for all,' he declared. Reiterating Pakistan's longstanding stance on Kashmir, the army chief said, 'Pakistan strongly supports a fair and peaceful solution to the Kashmir issue in line with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.' According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), grand commissioning parade reflecting rich naval traditions was held at the Pakistan Naval Academy, Karachi, marking the commissioning of the 123rd Midshipmen and 31st Short Service Commission (SSC) Course. Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Upon his arrival at the academy, he was welcomed by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf. A total of 127 midshipmen were part of the commissioning term, including 19 from Bahrain, 4 from Iraq, and 2 from the State of Palestine. In addition, 23 cadets from the SSC Course were also commissioned. In his address, the chief guest congratulated the newly commissioned officers and their families. He praised the Pakistan Naval Academy for providing high-quality training not only to Pakistani cadets but also to those from allied nations. The participation of cadets from Bahrain, Iraq, Palestine, Djibouti, and Türkiye in the ceremony underscored the academy's international training standards. Highlighting the professionalism of the Pakistan Navy, he noted its critical role in securing global sea lines of communication as a key regional maritime force. He also referred to recent regional tensions, emphasizing that during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, Pakistan's armed forces responded swiftly and decisively to threats from a numerically superior adversary, demonstrating the nation's firm resolve to defend its sovereignty and integrity. Earlier, in his welcome address, Commandant of the Pakistan Naval Academy, Commodore Tasawwar Iqbal, elaborated on the academic and professional development offered at the academy. He emphasized the academy's role in nurturing officers with strong faith, character, and dedication to the motherland. Later, the chief guest distributed awards among outstanding cadets: Midshipman Abdul Rehman received the Sword of Honour for overall best performance, Midshipman Shayan Hashmat was awarded the Academy Dirk, Officer Cadet Muhammad Uzair Abbas received the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gold Medal, Officer Cadet Chaudhry Muhammad Aizaz Tahir of the SSC course was given the Commandant's Gold Medal and the Proficiency Banner was awarded to the Quarterdeck Squadron. The ceremony was attended by foreign dignitaries, government officials, officers of the Pakistan Navy and other armed forces, and families of the commissioning officers.

Punjab Assembly Speaker suspends 26 opposition members
The Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Malik Ahmed Khan on Saturday suspended 26 members of the opposition party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), for disrupting Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's speech and causing chaos in the assembly session, according to Aaj News. The Assembly Secretariat confirmed that the suspension was issued under Rule 210(3) of the Assembly Rules, barring the members from attending the next 15 assembly sittings. During the session, opposition members shouted slogans, engaged in physical shoving, and tore official documents, violating the assembly's rules of conduct. The Speaker 'condemned' their behavior, saying such disorderly conduct damages the dignity and discipline of the House. He acknowledged that while protesting is a right of assembly members, it must follow the limits set by the Constitution and parliamentary procedures. The Speaker emphasized that maintaining order in the assembly is essential and will be strictly enforced. PTI says budget will enrich elite at the cost of masses in Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday launched a scathing attack on the recently passed Federal Budget for 2025-26, denouncing it as a 'banker's blueprint' crafted to enrich the elite at the expense of the masses. Speaking at a presser, the opposition leader in National Assembly Omar Ayub, flanked by Asad Qaiser, Gohar Ali Khan, and other senior party leaders, condemned the budget as a 'giveaway written by a banker, for his banker buddies'. 'This is not a people's budget; it's a banker's business plan,' Ayub said. 'The hybrid regime plans to borrow another Rs6,300 billion from local banks, allowing four or five bank owners to graduate from billionaires to trillionaires. Meanwhile, the nation sinks deeper into debt.' Ayub accused the government of both fiscal cruelty and political repression, warning that the prices of essential commodities such as flour, sugar, and lentils would soar under the new fiscal measures. 'They couldn't even face the opposition in Parliament. Both the finance minister and the prime minister evaded accountability.' Moreover, Ayub claimed that former MNA Ijaz Chaudhry was abducted in the dead of night, while former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi remain in jail as hostages of political vendetta. He said several senior PTI leaders including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Omar Cheema, Hassaan Niazi, and Yasmin Rashid and others were imprisoned without bail. However, Asad Qaiser accused the government of reducing Parliament to a rubber stamp. MNA Sanaullah Mastikhel criticising the powerful energy lobbies, alleged that Independent Power Producers (IPPs) were 'untouchable profiteers' who have plundered the nation for decades under successive governments. 'These IPPs have become a cartel, bleeding the country dry through inflated capacity payments and ironclad contracts. They get paid whether they produce electricity or not while the average Pakistani is left in the dark, both literally and financially.' Masti accused the government of shielding these corporate giants while the public suffers from rolling blackouts and sky-high electricity bills. 'Every time the people tighten their belts, these energy barons loosen theirs. And now, with this budget, the same crooks are getting even more incentives. It is daylight robbery, institutionalised.'
