Detroit man charged with fatally shooting his girlfriend on Valentine's Day

CBS News17-02-2025

(CBS DETROIT) - A Detroit man has been charged with first-degree murder and felony firearm in connection with the fatal shooting of his girlfriend on Valentine's Day.
Desuan Travon Ross, 31, was arraigned on those charges and remanded to jail after a magistrate hearing Sunday in 36th District Court, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Officer reported. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for Feb. 24; preliminary exam is scheduled for March 3.
Eboni Robinson, 29, also of Detroit, was the victim.
A press release from Prosecutor Kym Worthy related the following circumstances:
Shortly before 9 a.m. Friday, Detroit Police went to a home in the 17400 block of Washburn on report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found Robinson's vehicle crashed into the front porch of a home on the opposite side of the street, with the woman still inside, showing signs of multiple gunshot wounds.
Medics were called to the scene and pronounced her dead.
"It is alleged that the defendant and the victim were engaged in an argument inside the victim's vehicle. When the altercation escalated, it is alleged that the defendant exited the vehicle and fired a handgun multiple times into the driver's side window, striking the victim," the prosecutor's office said.
"After the victim's vehicle traveled to the opposite side of the street and crashed, it is further alleged that Defendant Ross fired a rifle multiple times into the driver's side window, fatally wounding Ms. Robinson."
In response to the case, the Wayne County Prosecutor's office added that help is available for those experiencing domestic violence. A list of resources including support services and shelters is on the prosecutor's website.

Brad Pitt's Home Burglarized After Thieves Enter Through Front Window and Ransack His Property, Police Say

The alleged burglary occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, the Los Angeles Police Department told PEOPLE. The suspects "broke into the residence via the front window, ransacked the location, then fled the location with miscellaneous property," police said. All three suspects are yet to be publicly identified. Pitt, 61, was not in the home at the time of the alleged burglary. A rep for Pitt had no comment. The burglary comes amid a string of celebrity home invasions in Los Angeles in 2025. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's Los Angeles home was burglarized on Valentine's Day. Police sources told NBC News, ABC News and TMZ at the time that the burglars allegedly smashed a glass door or window to break in before ransacking the home and fleeing. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson's Los Angeles home was also burglarized last year on Aug. 5, 2024, per ABC 7. The invasion of Pitt's home comes while the actor has been on an international press tour for F1: The Movie. The actor was most recently seen at the film's European premiere in London's Leicester Square on Monday, June 23. Brad Pitt's L.A. home torn up by burglars while he attends ‘F1' premiere

Thieves broke into a Los Angeles home owned by Brad Pitt on Wednesday and ransacked the actor's abode while he was out of town, according to law enforcement sources. Los Angeles police officials said a break-in at a home occurred around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. At least three suspects scaled the security fence at Pitt's Los Feliz-area house and smashed a window before entering, making 'a real mess' and stealing some items, according to sources not authorized to discuss the case. Pitt's possessions were tossed and overturned as the thieves 'had gone through looking for what they could take of value,' said one source familiar with the crime. Pitt is one of the latest celebrities to see their home burglarized. South American theft gangs have plagued upscale areas of L.A. in recent years. In early February, Olivier Giroud, the French striker who plays for Los Angeles FC, had his home targeted and $500,000 worth of jewelry and watches stolen, sources said. Then on Valentine's Day, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's home was burglarized. Pitt's midcentury modern home, dubbed the Steel House, is one of several owned by the movie star. He was in London on Monday night for the European premiere of 'F1: The Movie.' Last August, the FBI, working with local police, dismantled a multimillion-dollar crime tourism ring that had operated for years in Southern California, facilitating thefts across the country. Their investigation led them to a most unusual hub: a Los Angeles car rental business. The group directed crime tourists who committed hundreds of thefts across the nation — including in Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties — beginning around 2018. The thefts occurred in about 80 cities in California, Colorado, Arizona, New Jersey, Kansas and Illinois and netted about $5.5 million for those charged in the case, according to the indictment. Prosecutors, however, estimated the loss to businesses and homeowners at about $35 million. The trend of South American crime groups visiting Southern California for thefts and robberies emerged roughly six years ago, and authorities have been grappling to get it under control.

Teen in clown mask goes on robbery spree, then parent turns him in, IN cops say

Police were searching for a person accused of robbing cars in a 'clown-like mask' when a parent walked into the sheriff's office with their 16-year-old son, Indiana deputies said. The teen went on a two-night crime spree in an Evansville neighborhood, where he broke into two vehicles on June 19 and tried to rob more vehicles and a home on June 22, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office said in a June 24 news release. 'This is just youthful immaturity,' Sheriff Noah Robinson told WEHT. 'Wearing a mask like that ramped up social media attention and led to this person's parents seeing it posted online.' Police did not identify the teen suspect. Two residents said cash, a laptop and designer handbags were taken from their vehicles as home surveillance footage captured the masked teen, according to deputies. Three days later, the teen was seen on home surveillance footage as he tried to open several locked vehicles and a locked garage, according to the sheriff's office. Another person said two window screens were removed from their home, which police believe was an attempt at burglary. The teen did not get into the home, garage or vehicles on June 22, deputies said. A parent recognized their child in the surveillance video posted to social media by the sheriff's office in the hopes of identifying the suspect. They brought their child to the sheriff's office, where the teen confessed, deputies said. 'We are grateful to the parent who demonstrated courage and integrity by doing the right thing, even under difficult circumstances,' Robinson said in a statement. 'Their decision to bring their child forward not only aided our investigation, but also gave this young person an opportunity to face consequences and access the resources available through Juvenile Court.' Multiple stolen items were found at the teen's home, according to deputies. The teen is currently in the Youth Care Center and is held pending proceedings in juvenile court, deputies said. He was charged with two counts of attempted burglary, theft as a felony and two counts of theft as a misdemeanor. Evansville is about a 175-mile drive southwest from Indianapolis.
