EAIC Refers AADK Drug Release Case to Public Prosecutor
The commission had received a complaint alleging that AADK officers neglected their duties by releasing several individuals who tested positive for drug abuse during a raid at Kampung Felda LBJ, Labu, Negeri Sembilan, on March 8, 2023. The EAIC stated that this alleged act constitutes an offense under Section 211 of the Penal Code.
'EAIC decided to refer the investigation's findings to the public prosecutor in accordance with subparagraph 30(1)(c) of Act 700,' read the commission's statement.
In addition to the referral for potential prosecution, the EAIC has also forwarded findings related to disciplinary offenses committed by the involved AADK officers to the Disciplinary Authority. This comes 'along with a recommendation for disciplinary action under subparagraph 30(1)(b) of Act 700.'

Man charged over sickle attack at coffee shop
KOTA BARU: A father of three pleaded not guilty in the magistrate's court here today to a charge of injuring a man using a sickle at a coffee shop here, on June 5. Mohd Yusaini Mohd Yussof, 37, pleaded not guilty to injuring 40-year-old Kamaruddin Sha'ari after the charge was read out to him before magistrate Rais Imran Hamid. Mohd Yusaini is accused of intentionally injuring Kamaruddin's forehead and under his right eye using a sickle at a coffee shop in Simpang Empat Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) here, at 7.45pm, on June 5. The man was charged with committing an offence under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which provides for a maximum prison sentence of up to 10 years or a fine or whipping or any two of these punishments, if convicted. The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Naabil Mohamed Asri, while the accused was represented by lawyer Muhamad Fiqri Muhamad. The court granted bail of RM5,000 with additional conditions stipulating that the accused must not approach or disturb the victim or any prosecution witnesses until the case is concluded. Aug 10 has been set for mention.

Father pleads not guilty to injuring man with sickle in Kelantan

Decision on Zayn Rayyan neglect case to be known tomorrow
KUALA LUMPUR: The decision on whether Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matin's parents, Zaim Ikhwan Zahari and Ismanira Abdul Manaf, will be called to defend themselves or acquitted by the Petaling Jaya Sessions Court on charges of neglecting the six-year-old autistic child to the point of causing physical harm to him, will be known tomorrow. Judge Dr Syahliza Warnoh is scheduled to give the decision at the end of the prosecution case at 9am. If the court decides that the prosecution has succeeded in proving a prima facie case against Ismanira and Zaim Ikhwan, then they will be called to defend themselves, while if not, the two accused will be released and acquitted of the charges. On April 24, the prosecution closed the case after calling 28 prosecution witnesses throughout the 20-day trial which began on Feb 4. Among the prosecution witnesses called to testify were the first person to find Zayn Rayyan's body, Faizul Najib Abd Munaim, Auni Afiqah Abas who was Zayn Rayyan's caregiver, forensic medical consultant Dr Rohayu Shahar Adnan, three investigating officers and two 10-year-old child witnesses. The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Raja Zaizul Faridah Raja Zaharudin, Aqharie Durranie Aziz and Nur Sabrina Zubairi, while lawyers Haresh Mahadevan, Ramzani Idris and Lavanesh Haresh represented both accused. Zaim Ikhwan and Ismanira, both aged 30, were charged with neglecting Zayn Rayyan in a manner likely to cause physical harm to the victim in the vicinity of Block R, Idaman Apartment, Damansara Damai up to the nearby river area between noon on Dec 5 and 9.55pm on Dec 6, 2023. They were charged under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment or a fine of RM50,000 or both, if convicted. Zayn Rayyan, 6, was reported missing on Dec 5, 2023 and his body was found the next day in a stream near his house. – Bernama
