Kodad copper plates reveal early roots of Kakatiyas
The plates, inscribed in Sanskrit using Telugu script, date back to the 9th and 10th centuries CE. ASI Director (Epigraphy) K Muniratnam Reddy says that these inscriptions not only offer detailed dynastic genealogies of the Eastern Chalukyas but also serve as some of the earliest recorded references to the ancestors of the Kakatiyas, bridging the historical gap between the prominent Deccan powers.
The most recent plate to be studied is a set dated April 22, 921 CE, belonging to King Ammaraja I. It traces the dynasty's lineage from Kubja Vishnuvardhana to Ammaraja I and records the grant of the village, Pokarani, to the Gundesvarabhattarakaya temple in Kakarti village.

First-term exam schedule for State schools announced
The General Education department has published the timetable for the first-term examinations. The timetable will be applicable to schools following the Muslim calendar too. A meeting of the Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) monitoring committee, presided over by the Director of General Education, decided to conduct the examinations from August 18 to August 29. The examinations for Classes I to IV will begin only on August 20. The examinations for the remaining Classes till Class X will be held from August 18 to 26, while those for the higher secondary classes will be held from August 18 to 29. After the examinations, Onam celebrations will be held in all schools on August 29. The schools will close for Onam holidays the same day. There will be no exam in Kasaragod district on August 27 on account of Ganeshotsavam. The examination scheduled for that day will be held on August 29.

Sathya Sai Collector launches I to V grades of Kendriya Vidyalaya on NACIN campus
District Collector T.S. Chetan on Monday inaugurated 'standard I to V' classes at the newly established Kendriya Vidyalaya on the campus of NACIN (National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics) near Palasamudram in Sri Sathya Sai district. 'Holistic development of students is possible only by imparting quality education,' the Collector said. Addressing the students, parents, and staff, the Collector highlighted that the government's core objective was to make quality education accessible to children of all the sections of society in rural areas. 'The Kendriya Vidyalaya set up in this rural ambience has a noble objective to provide vibrant academic and infrastructural support to students from Telugu, English, and Hindi medium backgrounds,' Mr. Chetan said. The Collector said that equipping students with strong English communication skills and comprehensive abilities, besides nurturing respect for their mother tongue, would play a vital role in their holistic development. 'It is the prime responsibility of teachers to strike a balance by empowering students with academic and social strategies to evolve into notable forces of change globally, without losing the aesthetics of glorious culture,' he said. Referring to the constructive role of Parents-Teachers Meetings, the Collector called for greater community participation in driving the academic and emotional growth among school children, and added that sports and games should also get their due share.
