"Had 30-45 Seconds To React": Pak PM's Aide On India's BrahMos Attack
A top Pakistani politician has admitted his country's military had only 30 to 45 seconds to determine whether a BrahMos cruise missile fired by India during Operation Sindoor could have a nuclear warhead.
Rana Sanaullah, adviser to Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, also pointed out that the risk of a nuclear war weighed heavily during the India-Pakistan conflict, which broke out after Pakistan-linked terrorists killed 26 tourists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam.
"When India fired BrahMos at Nur Khan airbase, Pakistan's military had only 30-45 seconds to analyse whether the incoming missile may have a nuclear warhead. To decide anything on this in just 30 seconds was a dangerous situation," Mr Sanaullah told a Pakistani news channel.
Nur Khan is a major airbase of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in Rawalpindi's Chaklala.
"I am not saying that they did good by not using a nuclear warhead, but at the same time the people on this side could have misunderstood it also, leading to the launch of the first nuclear weapon that could spark a global nuclear war," he added.
India struck multiple Pakistani air bases during 'Operation Sindoor', damaging runways, hangars, and buildings, causing a massive blow to Pakistan. Satellite images showed extensive damage in Sargodha, Nur Khan (Chaklala), Bholari, Jacobabad, Sukkur, and Rahim Yar Khan.
It was not the first time India struck Nur Khan. During the 1971 war, the 20 Squadron of the Indian Air Force (IAF) targeted the air base with their Hawker Hunters.
The Indian military destroyed multiple camps of terror groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Hizbul Mujahideen, and killed more than 100 terrorists during 'Operation Sindoor'.
After India's overnight operations, the Pakistani Army launched drones and missiles at western parts of India, which were successfully intercepted. India then hit selected military targets deep inside Pakistani territory.
The two countries reached a ceasefire agreement to halt military actions with immediate effect after four days of intense cross-border drone and missile strikes.

He even claimed that if PM Modi won't be projected as the BJP's face, the saffron camp won't be able to win even 150 seats in the general elections. He said that BJP has no choice other than PM Modi to contest the 2029 Lok Sabha elections in his name. When asked about Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat's recent remarks suggesting that leaders should step aside at the age of 75, Dubey said that this does not apply to PM Modi as the party needs him to be in power rather than PM Modi requiring BJP. The BJP MP further said that a political party functions on the basis of personality cult. Remark on Thackerays The BJP MP also spilled the beans about his recent controversial remark on Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray over the ongoing language row in Maharashtra where he dared the 'bahut bade boss' to come out of the state and said, ' Tumko patak patak ke maarenge" (you will be thrashed badly, again and again). Dubey said he being a lawmaker, he won't take the law in his hands, but the people of whichever state the Thackeray brothers will visit, will thrash them. Dubey's comments came in response to Raj Thackeray's comment on the victory rally in Mumbai earlier this month, where he told his party workers to beat those who don't speak Marathi, but not to record videos of such incidents. Love-Hate Relationship With Owaisi Dubey also revealed about the relationship and bond he shares with his arch rival and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi. During the interview, he said that he shares a cheerful and friendly bond with Owaisi for a long time. Dubey said that Owaisi is a family friend of him for years. The two firebrand leaders from rival parties were part of a seven-member delegation, headed by BJP MP Baijayant Panda, that travelled to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and Algeria as part of India's global outreach in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack and India's response, Operation Sindoor. Before the team-up, Owaisi had slammed Dubey for his remarks on the Supreme Court. Following the apex court's landmark ruling on Tamil Nadu, which effectively imposed a deadline for the President and governors to approve Bills passed twice by the legislature, Dubey had said, 'Parliament and State Assemblies should be shut," noting that the Supreme Court was overstepping its boundaries. Dubey began his political journey in 2009, and has won the Godda Lok Sabha constituency in every election since then. Watch: Commandos Rappel Down From Chopper On 5-Star Hotel In Delhi For Anti-Terror Drills
New Delhi: Delhi Police organised a two-day mock drill in New Delhi starting on Thursday to check anti-terror preparedness in the national capital. Today, the drill was conducted at Claridges - a five-star hotel in Lutyens Delhi, Hindu College, and several other locations. The mock drill will involve multiple agencies, including, National Security Guard (NSG), Special Cell, Fire Department, Indian Army Ghatak Brigade, SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) commandos, along with other important stakeholders, sources told IANS on the condition of anonymity. It is stated that anti-terror mock drills will be conducted at more than 10 locations across the capital. The mock drills were being conducted at Claridges Hotel, Lutyens Delhi, Hindu College (North Campus, Delhi University) and Venkateshwar International School, Dwarka. Similarly, at Claridges Hotel, it included a bomb blast drill, and NSG commandos landing on the terrace via helicopters. Other locations where mock drills would be conducted include Indira Gandhi International Airport, AIIMS and others. These mock drills are happening ahead of the August 15 (Independence Day) celebrations. Notably, these drills are being conducted against the backdrop of Operation Sindoor. These drills are aimed at assessing emergency response and ensuring smooth coordination between agencies, and ensuring operational efficiency. "The general public is advised to extend cooperation and avoid falling for rumours, misunderstandings," said a senior officer. The entire exercise will be closely monitored by senior officials to ensure effectiveness and draw key learnings. The last mock drills were conducted in May across the country at over 200 locations to test emergency readiness, days after the military conflict between India and Pakistan. These drills were carried out following Operation Sindoor, launched by the Indian armed forces in the intervening night of May 6-7 in retaliation for the Pahalgam attack on April 22, in which Pakistan-sponsored terrorists killed 25 innocent tourists and one local pony ride operator.

Projects worth Rs 5000 crore and a political message: Bengal gears up ahead of PM Modi's rally
Political analysts await Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public meeting in West Bengal's Durgapur tomorrow, July 18, a significant event just days before the state's ruling party Trinamool Congress's annual 'Shahid Divas' mega rally on July 21, where it is expected to set the tone for the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections in West Bengal. This marks the Prime Minister's second visit to the state in recent times, following his address in Alipurduar after Operation Sindoor on May 29. Following the launches of some projects, PM Modi is expected to lead a rally from Gandhi More to Nehru Stadium, culminating in a public meeting at the stadium. The Prime Minister will also flag off the 132 km Durgapur-Kolkata section of the Durgapur-Haldia Natural Gas Pipeline, part of the ambitious Jagdishpur-Haldia and Bokaro-Dhamra Pipeline, also known as the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga (PMUG) Project. This section, costing over Rs 1,190 crore, traverses through Purba Bardhman, Hooghly, and Nadia districts, promising natural gas supply to households and having created employment during its construction. In a move towards cleaner energy, PM Modi will also dedicate the Retrofitting Pollution Control System – Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD) systems at Durgapur Steel Thermal Power Station and Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station of Damodar Valley Corporation. These projects, worth over Rs 1,457 crore, are expected to facilitate cleaner energy production and create job opportunities. Rail infrastructure will also receive a boost with the dedication of the doubled Purulia – Kotshila Rail Line (36 KM) in Purulia, a project valued at over Rs 390 crore. This upgrade is set to enhance rail connectivity for industries in Jamshedpur, Bokaro, and Dhanbad with Ranchi and Kolkata, streamlining goods movement and reducing travel times. Additionally, two road over bridges (ROBs) constructed under the Setu Bharatam Programme, costing over Rs 380 crore, will be inaugurated at Topsi and Pandabeswar in Paschim Bardhaman, aiming to improve connectivity and reduce railway crossing accidents.
